Naomi Osaka Threatened With Expulsion For Refusing To Do Media Interviews....

Wait... I'm giving concern to a young woman is apparently having mental issues and you're going to ask me about Ronda Rousey because she could handle losing a fight? If can't show you concern for Ronda Rousey here, kindly STFU!
If she is having mental issues/dealing with depression, that's one thing. Of course I agree with her taking a break to take care of herself.

If she simply doesn't want to answer questions after playing a game of tennis, that's what I'm talking about.

I don't even get what you are saying about Rousey. So fuck you and that STFU shit.

She literally said she's been battling depression for three years and has social anxiety.

OK.... So that's what I said in my comment. If she is struggling with mental health, then I get it.

The way it was first stated is the she didn't want to answer questions after a loss.

I think you read it wrong pimpin. Her initial tweet came before the tournament even started so there was no loss involved. Maybe her anxiety was getting to her this week and it was too much to deal with.

Man listen....

I'm guilty of not having all the info before I commented at first.

I was 100% wrong.

I thought from the snippets of info that I had that she was basically being bratty and just didn't want to engage with the media.

That said, I wish her the best of course.

but she's weak tho.... on the court in a game....serena do that??
She is weak tho fam. She is the top tennis player in the world. How often is she losing any way? At most a few times every two years. She is just answering questions fam.

Do your press and go on with your life. Is 10 to 15 mins really that bad when you the top player in the world?

I'm of the mind that if she wants to skip interviews, they can just fine her....she can pay the fine and everybody can let it go, cause 99.999% of people don't give a shit if she sits around answering questions for 10 minutes or not.

...but about the Rousey thing... I think we were pretty hard on her....so lets not act like she got passes in bgol after she got destroyed in the octagon.

So all ya'll saying stuff like this. Would you feel the same if she was white?

Where were all of ya'll when Ronda Rousey was on Ellen saying that she wanted to kill herself because she lost one fight?!!!

I'll wait.....

didn't rousey take a year off after that loss??? so whats your point?

Shes a white woman. She deserves to be treated with kid gloves, understanding and decency. Naomi needs to be glad she gets paid to play a sport for a living and should understand she owes the media and fans her livelihood!

OK... She's being a bit dramatic. That's part of the deal when you are a professional athlete.

One reason they get paid millions. She needs to grow up and learn to deal with the press.
Unlike team sports you will have a coach or the team captain they may even rotate players to hold interviews after a win or lost. Tennis it will always be the player and it can be exhausting constantly answering the same questions after every match. And sometimes those questions are personnel and not professional when they are top ranked female players. Remember when a reporter told Serena Williams she should smile more...
Those millions come from the media and tv contracts. Talk just like everyone else or find another job.

I give her an A+ for effort and this may be a ploy on her part to put the press on the defensive but in the end, the Press is the Press. If you're in entertainment arts, sports entertainment, or politics you have to deal with them. We just had possibly the Biggest Cry Baby in Human history whine about the Press for 5 going on 6 years. I am worried that she may not have what it takes to deal with the stress of being on the world stage. The ones who ultimately rise to greatness ignore doubters or use it to fuel their internal fire. As a sports fan, I think interviewing people after they just lost an emotional game or match is kind of Stupid but it has given us some great post-interview gems:

In the end, I think she'll be just fine.

Because she is a biracial sister that supports black men. She's an easy target.
then you should understand that some people have no tolerance for bullshit. and instead of jumping on her for not doing something she's not getting paid for (she gets paid to play tennis) how about asking why when dominant sisters are being questioned by the press, they're talked to different? they're held to a different standard. after years of hearing how they defined Serena and Venus, why the fuck are y'all riding the sister?? ask yourself that objectively and get back to me.

and...i'm too old for crushes...especially on someone young enough to be my daughter

She's withdrawn from the tournament.... :eek2:

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/tennis/...draws-french-open-following-press-conference/

Naomi Osaka has announced her withdrawal from Roland Garros one day after she was fined $15,000 by the French Open and warned that she could face expulsion from the tournament following her decision not to speak with the press during the tournament.

Osaka, 23, who won her first match against Patricia Maria Tig and was scheduled to face Ana Bogdan in the second round, had released a statement last Wednesday stating her intention to skip her media obligations during Roland Garros because of the effects of her interactions with the press on her mental health.

It seems that you obviously haven't been following her story or why she doesn't want to talk to the media. Until you catch up, hold your comments to yourself.

Its nice to be rich to say fuck it when you want
don't really feel sorry for her but she definitely should do what's best for her mental health
on the other hands, millions have to go to work everyday regardless of social anxiety depression or whatever
but why did the organization not let her simply pay the fine, if that is the rule?
still i guess 10-15 minutes of answering question is too much for her mentally so hopefully she's seeing a therapist

until you play at her level you have idea what pressures and bullshit she has to deal with.

of course not. i could say the same thing about something i've dealt with/currently dealing with in my life
everyone of us have specific and unique pressures that we deal with everyday.
i'm just saying its great to be rich to walk away from it for a time and i hope she's getting the help she needs
not bashing her at all and I would never wish to be famous

No matter how we try and spin it, answering questions for 10 to 15 mins is nothing. Especially for her when she gets such easy questions. Has to be some other stuff going on

You dudes are dumb as shit.

Obviously money doesn't phase her like a lot of you wanna be keyboard militants on this thread. If she feels her mental health is more important to her than money so be it. Advertisers and sponsors spend billions of dollars to buy athletes just to prop them up like animals at a dog show just to make them bark on command, we so used to it we accept it as gospel on that's how it should be.

If it is to much she should leave the sport. But don’t shit on people who did nothing to her.

For the sake of clarity, Amajorfucup, this is Rousey's great grandfather:

How'd you adapt to having those conversations with your son?
How'd you adapt to having those conversations with your son?

My son is super arrogant and super sensitive which makes no sense to me. As for how I adapted, I just try and reiterate that I love him and only want the best for him. We also have a timeout system if he feels I’m putting to much pressure on him. Majority of the time he gets confused with parenting and pressure. I also took in my nephew and I think he gets upset that me and my nephew have relationship based on our love of sports and my son could careless about sports.

no rule book to it my guy! You do the best you can and keep showing love! #Respect

SMH... As I see this thread continue, I'm going to ask before I post....

But there is a response from Candice Owens.

Would y'all like me to post it, or would anybody care to post it themselves?

I believe what Naomi says about herself.
I saw the sad look on her face in 2019 and I could tell that she suffers from some type of depression.
She has a very quiet, soft spoken disposition and probably more of an introvert than a extrovert.
She's doing the right thing by taking care of her mental health first.
No one criticized ex Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch when oft time when he got moody and refused to do post game interviews or give one word
responses to reporters.
