I guess I’ll chime in. I’m a melanoid man (from America) and have been living in Japan for almost 20 years.
Systematic white supremacy is alive and well here, as it is all over the world. In Japan’s case, a lot of it’s fucked up views come DIRECTLY from America. As America thinks, generally, so does Japan as it relates to other people (there are some deep exceptions, but that’s a topic for another thread).
With that said, you don’t feel racism in the same way you would as you do in America as often . My experience in Japan has been, by and large, positive. I have been pretty successful here. But with that said, I can think of numerous whites who have not produced nearly as much as I have , in a shared work environment, who have seen comparable success. So, just as in America, being melanoid I do find myself having to work harder, on average, to get the recognition for what I do versus whites here.
But again, on the flip-side, my experience here has been by positive, by and far. There is a reason I have decided to remain here for the time being.
And before anyone asks, I am not in the military. I have done the English teacher thing back in the day, but have since progressed quite a bit in my career to the point where I wouldn’t go back to doing that.
I hope that gives some curious minds a degree of insight.
