<<{{Official 2019-2020 NBA Thread - the season returns July 31-October 12. }}>

Dope tribute. Brought out Usher and Boyz II Men. Two OG's and they represented. I wish Melo would've played but people grieve in different ways.

Zion got 24 and played almost 30 minutes. Good thing they're taking the cuffs off that boy.

Nuggets got a HUGE win against the League's best(record-wise) in Milwaukee. Barton is shutting me up. I guess he can stay:lol:

Says the socialist tranny loving Kobe stan that fights for gay rights on BGOL. Im here and your fag buddies still aint showed up. And lets be real you wont be making a bunch of Warrior and Curry posts this season because that bandwagon is done. You bout to be a Clipper. No need to pretend Arthur. By the way, I posted that yesterday, you waited til after the loss to respond.
I told you that in July. All you fake Dubs bandwagoners will become Clips fans this season. 4 years ago you was a Laker fan when Kobe played Art.

Bitchillleaveya and Gay Carver still MIA. Last years season opener they was all in this bitch braggin how excited they were. KD leaves nigs start changin screen names and buying Clips jerseys.
I root for players, not teams, dumbass! I've been very clear on that. Rode with Kobe his entire post-Shaq career, now Curry is my favorite player. And I won't give a shit about the Warriors once he's gone unless I happen to really like the individuals remaining on the roster. You go ahead and root for some white billionaire owned corporation your entire life if you want to but that's not what I'm going to do.

FYI--

Never in a million years did I think I'd root for LeBron to win a championship. But I'll be rooting for the Lakers this year.

I NEVER was a Lakers fan. Rooted against Kobe & Shaq for all three championships. I started rooting for Kobe when his play after Colorado showed his resilience and mental fortitude was something I'd never seen in basketball. That run where Dave Chappelle said "Kobe looked like he was out there playing for his freedom." The quest to win one without Shaq. What I loved most was his temerity (and, of course, as Stepheh A Smith might say, his unmitigated gall) to shoot the most impossible shots. Curry's similar recklessness paired with amazing skill made him the most entertaining player to me as Kobe was transitioning out of the league. But I never gave a fuck about the Lakers before Kobe and never gave a fuck about them when he left. Because I care more about the players on the court than the company they work for. I think it is a much more fulfilling sports experience-- I root for what makes me feel good. So even though my thoughts about the best equipped team to win a championship is (I still think it is the other LA team), I'm rooting for Kobe's team this year.

Nobody insists it's the only way

But those that are successful aren't ignorant to the benefits of analytics

The talking heads absolutely frame it as either you use it completely or you're outdated

Jalen said it years ago how they're trying to push ppl who actually play the game out in favor of number crunchers

And he was right

Dope!!! Wanna fly out to Memphis in April to see the Sixers and Ja play live.

Analytics is merely one tool in a box of many...

All successful teams use it in one form or another. Like I said earlier the media was behind the curve on this one in its outset and now they're playing catch up. In doing so they are pulling every trick possible to make it seem as if they were there for the ride the whole time. That includes pushing analytics, its existence, and examples of it being used successfully to the forefront.

This is the same with ANY trend that sneaks up on society, is moderately successful, and the media is late to the party. This ain't just limited to sports.

You can't have a unique username on bgol and then carry that same username, or an offshoot of that username across other social media sites.

On top of that, you don't need to be a troll ass nigga behind that username, because there's always an off chance somebody might run across it... and then expose you and your entire existence.

I'm that somebody... dumb luck, but it happened... and today, I'm that somebody.

I won't expose you Brucie... just enjoy your birthday, m'kay?

Right
And the point is that nobody is saying it doesn't have a place

The problem is subscribing to the idea that its the only way.

Just my 2 cents on the analytics vs old school ball agrument :dunno:

The problem with going 100 in either direction is bad because they both have a place. Analytics can get you some quality wins and even a playoff run. But great players tend to step up in crisis moments and defy logic, reason, and stats. They defy analytics and go super saiyan. That's what makes them great.

Take Kobe, there were probably plenty of games during the down years where Kobe might have gone like 8/30 and had a bunch of missed contested inside jump shots. So the analytic crowd would look at the numbers and see definitive proof that those are terrible shots. But what they don't see is 7 of those 8 made shots probably came in the 4th quarter when the team needed them the most.

Or Lebron's block in the finals. Analytics would dictate that the smart move would have been to go for the foul and hope for missed free throws. But Lebron being a great player, said fuck stats and turn the gear to superman mode and came away with one of the best blocks in finals history.

All the great players have moments like that. Jordan, Magic, Bird, Curry, Kobe, etc. That's what I mean by great players defying logic in crisis moments.

I honestly think that's the reason the Rockets haven't been able to get over the hump in the playoffs. Analytics can get you there, but once you're there you need to unleash your star player to do what the fuck he does best. Fuck the stat sheets. When the game is on the line they don't need stats. They need to get out their own way and let Harden go off.

I guess my point is that (even with the rockets) athletic ability and that x factor still come into play and analytics aren't the only way to succeed.

My thing is I think it has a place it is not THE PLACE
its ironic because the analytics purists believe without a doubt in the numbers and the numbers dictate everything
and those who make it the source of how they run their teams and how they coach and etc all suffer the same fate of....
not using common sense and logic lol
which is hilarious because they're using the numbers to not be logical which is an endless roundabout of oxymoronic behavior

It's like every year he has a period of a few weeks where he gets on fire
This is true. This one feels like one for the ages though. These are the type of point total I expect through a course of a 82 game season....this dude did it in a week it seems.
