I agree, but I'm just saying if they are going to do it, do it so it gets attention and moves them in the direction of their goal (vague as it is).
Normally, if a name gets at least 1% of the vote, the name gets posted in the results. Third party votes where one person writes in Mickey Mouse, another Popeye etc is wasted AND goes unnoticed. So they need to show they made an impact. If they participate in exit polls they can say who they voted for a why, getting news coverage and attention. Right now they are just saying sit out, and they won't be noticed doing that.
Even if people sit out in large numbers, there is no way to prove that was because they want a specific agenda passed. Trying to take credit for folks not showing up after the fact is silly. If they do a coordinated campaign, then they can say we came, but you didn't earn my vote and then go on to tell candidates how to do so. I don't think this election is the one to mess around with, Trump is too dangerous imo, I'm just saying if you're going to do it, have some strategy about it. These folks have no plan, no strategy to win, then get pissed because people who think past emotion in pursuit of action and results don't take them seriously.
That’s the point. It’s easier to say don’t vote rather than have a coordinated campaign. The reason why the ADOS movement’s message of not voting is so crazy (not the idea of reparations - which is important) is that they can claim victory based on strategies that are in line with other coordinated efforts by Republicans and Foreign influences to suppress voting by African Americans. That’s the crazy thing. If Blacks don’t show up to vote, can the ADOS movement really claim victory or should the Russians or Republicans? How about all three - that will show the Democrats right?
Why not coordinate a write-in to show the nation the importance of the black vote. They never answer this because they are advocates for non-voting. Even in the other thread you have mantras, tweets, talking points, but never an answer for this simple question. It’s because there is none. The movement is taking an important discussion and advocating for something that is the antithesis of what our ancestors fought and died for.
