DC First Look: Titans aka Teen Titans

Nightwing's costume is official
Yeah it is. Wonder what they got planned for next season. Must be bringing in a new member, Wally?

Didn't like
how easily Slade was killed, probably not dead though, and how Donna died, she'll probably be back too

I don't think
Deathstroke is dead nor is Donna Troy. I know Slade is supposed to have a healing factor similar to Rose. Or maybe they can use the Lazarus pit ploy as a way to bring him back. He was too good of a villain to not have him come back to enact his revenge
I'd luv to see Kid Flash on there as well as to see Beast Boy do more than turn into a damn tiger. He's only done one other animal and that was for a single moment in the season 2 premiere

Slade is just an OK villain.. they keep having to nerf the titans just to give him a chance I mean an old man with pretty good aim is no match for wonder girl or starfire.... and no way that truss would kill Donna.. calling bullshit on that one

i want to see the brotherhood of evil.. or brother blood next season.. fuck all this emo shit an tear up some shit next season

and again Bruce Wayne is British lol??

wonder girl and dove are fine as hell

I think kid flash and Robin (Jason todd) don't get along.. that shit would be comical lol

Keep sleeping on Deathstroke if you wanna

I finally got around to watching this. Was pretty good except for the lazy writing at the end. I wonder who the villain gonna be next season.

They usually run out of steam by the time the season ends. I remember the 1st season final battle was very anti-climactic. Really good build up and then and then a 10sec fight

I FINALLY binged the first season...

I do NOT understand the complaints especially if you really comic book fans
no different than berlanti verse

my time is too limited to watch shows with lazy half ass writing & production value, when so much great content is available

I watched the first season over the weekend

I thought it was interesting.

But yeah i could see people having issues with it

I was not expecting the heavy violence and language a little excessive but i got it.

There is a very specific audience they targeting with this

And they got money and will support this type of show.

Unfortunately that's the same audience who would bully a black actress for playing a damn alien

Ok was it the boys or watchmen or even stargirl? No.

But i never ever ever thought I'd see a live action titans so just off that they had me.

Robin ain't the best actor, jason todd got a weird face, Gar is perfect and raven is a little miscast but could grow into the role. Kory could have had her own show she the best in the bunch.

The writing is ummm ambitious? but you can tell they know the comics and grew up with the characters they fans so thats good.

Sidebar... look i ain't never in nobody pockets and i ain't a hater. I would LOVE to have an opportunity to be the next berlanti or feige. But they need to let someone outside berlanti verse get a legit crack at this stuff. We know his get down. I know he built a large loyal fan base but we gotta get some better writers etc up in here.

The cameos, easter eggs and at least 3 very cool fanboy moments make it worth it for me.

What really hurts them is that young justice exists and those scripts even animated are exemplary.

I like it its fun, the costumes effects and production are good enough for me to get invested.

Its a comic book show of the f*cking teen titans for adults... you can't really hate too hard in that if you a comic nerd.

I'm gonna try to finish the second season so i can give a full honest fair assessment.

Again these fools put freaking hawk and dove on here...

C'mon cuz we gotta appreciate the little things.

I'm tired of half measures and improvisations from limited showrunners and writers mostly hired for nepotism not skill / talent

I can't be grateful for easter eggs snuck in by writers no one allows to write actual story

Realistically though

you REALLY think they gonna FIND and INVEST in 8 episodes written by a Marv Wolfman level visionary?

You think they gonna be able to do a Judas Contract level live action adult series?

maybe my expectations are just lower for WB/DC content

but I was pleasantly surprised cause I didn't expect much.

My cousin hit me with this point too to actually SUPPORT your point.

She said...

If this was MARVEL? and they had been behind this? would you have been THIS positive?

And I had to be HONEST and say NO.

And I have NO IDEA why subconsciously have different bars set for each entity but apparently I do.

I didn't see the writing as the biggest issue especially for session 1. The problem is that they aren't being given a budget to really do the characters justice. The second session suffered from the same budget issue, worse writing and they did the sequel thing were you throw in way to many characters just for fan service.

The animated versions of the Judas Contract weren't bad, so I'm positive the same thing could have been pulled off and I kind of thought they were doing their own version of it in the second session. I was wrong our it wasn't executed well, but it can be done.

You were just answering a question, but generally speaking people really need to stop comparing Marvel and DC especially with the mindset that everything Marvel has had a hand in was great. I'm not necessarily a fan but DC gave you Smallville, Arrow, the Flash and I hear Doom Patrol isn't bad. Marvel/Netflix gave you quality shows like the Punisher, Daredevil and Jessica Jones but they also put out Iron Fist which people say they didn't like . Let's not forget the ABC/Marvel still Disney Inhumans show that everyone tries to act like didn't happen.

I get having a preference but the die hard fan thing is lame especially when alot of people enjoy the characters from both Marvel and DC. I'm not in any way saying accept and support bad products. The issue for me is good or bad people are judging the products before they even come out or see them based purely on which team produces it.

I hear you.

You make good points i can't really response fully as i haven't seen the 2nd season yet.

You know again being older and a life long fan it is very difficult for me to really be unbiased

When robin got saved by jason todd i stood up and shouted. I NEVER want to lose that joy.

In my convo with @ViCiouS my point and i don't think his point was to down one against the other.

But I started reading comics in the early 80s and collected and sold them hell i started clubs and even had literary classes with them.

And honestly i repped the dc bullet. I wasn't a diehard true believer like that.

DC vs Marvel is tradition

But specifically we were discussing how my personal expectations are completely different. I don't EXPECT dc stuff to knock me out... honestly i didn't even realize that.

But i hold marvel to a ridiculous high standard and yes iron fist inhumans were bad but damn look at Marvel batting average?

Wb/dc/cw had a HUGE advantage tv wise.

I watched every episode of smallville. And even that went off the rails early but i stuck with it.

I defend the cw shows i watch them ALL but I'm REAL about the overall quality.

I'm not a huge critic on production quality unless its GLARING

I thought titans looked good. Gar jacket, raven goth look, starfire eyes, hawk and dove costumes. The stunts locations etc it was fine to me.

Again am i grading on a curve?

Probably. But i liked it.

HOWEVER there is valid argument that we shouldn't just ACCEPT a product because they put a superhero logo from our childhood on it, like you and Vicious said.

Titans has added another integral member of the Bat-family to the mix.
Jay Lycurgo has been cast as Tim Drake for season 3 of the HBO Max superhero drama, EW has learned.
In DC Comics canon, Tim Drake is better known as Batman's third Robin, taking over the position after the death of Jason Todd. It's currently unclear whether we'll see Lycurgo's Tim actually pick up the Robin mantle in season 3 because the official character description makes no mention of it.
Tim Drake is "a streetwise kid who's managed to grow up on the toughest streets without losing his indelible belief in heroism," per the description. "His easygoing demeanor is backed up by a near-genius mind, a natural detective with a perception of detail far beyond his years."

Tim's introduction into the Titans-verse would seem to fill the show's Robin void, however. Original Robin Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) transformed into Nightwing at the end of season 2, and Jason (Curran Walters) will abandon the name (and his team) in favor of becoming the vengeful Red Hood in season 3, which is currently in production.
With season 3, Titans is relocating from San Francisco to Gotham City and introducing several more iconic characters from Batman's beleaguered hometown, including former-Batgirl-turned-Gotham City Police Commissioner Barbara Gordon (Savannah Welch) and fear-toxin-loving baddie Scarecrow, a.k.a. Dr. Jonathan Crane, an inmate at Arkham Asylum who moonlights as a profiler for the GCPD.
Lycurgo also has a supporting role in Matt Reeves' upcoming film The Batman; it's not yet known whether his role on Titans is somehow related. His other credits include I May Destroy You and the ITV series Anthony.
