This gonna sound like hate...but if you are in New Orleans and eating at Popeyes, you are a psychopath. There is definitely a mom and pop place that has better chicken.
It could be a colluded effort like this dude says. Neither business is losing with all this free advertising. I haven't heard people talk this much about the best fast food chicken sandwiches. People are going out to buy both sandwiches to compare.

The location near me is fucked up! Line of cars just to get in is a disaster. If you can at least make it into the parking lot, good luck finding a space to park.

Out of curiosity, I went to a Popeye's around the time it opened to avoid the hordes and drama that will most likely follow in the perfect storm of an understaffed squad, poor management, and wildlings customers.
The good: soft roll, big crisp pickles, wholesome chicken breast. good taste overall
The bad (management/ownership): Franchise ownership (Nigerian) packs the sandwiches in regular paper bags instead of the special personal roll up bags as advertised (da fuck? lol). Even with a small line, as opposed to the upcoming HORDE scheduled for later in the day, the drive-thru line moves slow as fuck. Ridiculously understaffed. Its no wonder the turn-around of employees is high as hell. Not worth the stress.
Was it worth the short but slow drive thru line I experienced? NOPE
Could I fathom waiting over an hour or more amidst a horde of chicken sammich zombies? FUUUUCK NO
Is the new offering from Popeye's a "Chick Fil A killer"? FUCK NO
Would I try again? Yes, on occasion, after the marketing generated hype fizzles out

I went to Popeye's today and they had a sign on the drive-through saying that they start selling the sandwich on September 1st

I just checked out UberEats...they're sold out at all 3 locations near me. Not just the spicy chicken sandwiches but all chicken sandwiches.
Undereducated people tend to think popularity means good. I'm not calling people dumb, but if all you do is play it safe and never try anything outside of you tr box, of course you'll think this chicken sandwich is amazing. When we were kids, we thought McDonalds was good...now I can make a hamburger and hand cut fries that will make McDonalds taste like shoe insoles. If you are in a major city and find yourself caught up in this Popeyes sandwich nonsense, you really need to venture out and try something new.

Fuck Popeye I went to two of them and they were out of chicken sandwiches you never has that problem with chick fil A and they be busy all the time I like Popeye but they have to get their shit together before chick fil A run them out of business.
