Agreed. Also, I really loved the role that Reg E. Cathy played this season, as Luke's Father: James Lucas.
There were 2 key speeches Reg gave in Episode 2.... Which proved to be absolutely
prophetic, by the end of the whole season.
And they BOTH applied to Bushmaster, directly.
The 1st speech was about Hate.
In episode 2, Reg E. Cathy said:
“Hate only wears you down…it does not wear down your enemy.”
The 2nd speech was when Claire walked into Luke's father's church during his sermon at the end of Episode 2.
This is when Luke's father is telling his congregation about the Native American parable of a boy and his grandfather.
The grandfather tells the boy of 2 wolves that live within us, that are in a constant struggle.
One wolf is good, it represents humility, kindness, and benevolence... while the other wolf is evil.... and represents anger, pride, and ego. The boy asks his grandfather: "Which wolf will win?"

and his grandfather replies wisely....
“It's the one you feed.”
The whole way this scene played out was priceless. Claire was sitting silently in the back of the church listening intently, with the cuts between the other events unfolding around Harlem & Brooklyn.
These 2 speeches absolutely summed up Bushmaster's entire story arc.

But since these 2 speeches happened so early in the season... It really didn't hit me until I went back and re-watched Episode 2.
Bushmaster constantly
FED his own inner "2nd Wolf".

Plus, his anger at the Stokes family, combined with his pride & ego over being Harlem's "Chosen One"... never allowed him to ever stop his mission of trying to topple & kill Mariah.
Thus, by the end of the whole 2nd season... we see a badly injured Bushmaster returning alone to Jamaica... because his Hate only wore HIM down to the point of defeat... but it never wore down his enemy, Mariah Stokes.
That was just brilliant.

That was one of my favorite parts of this entire season.
