Damn, it just hit $1.3 billion, sweet.
Alright ya'll, on to The Avengers, we coming for that Avatar spot, c'ya in 19 days.

A Quiet Place was a really good movie. Saw it at a Thursday preview. Those high concept films are usually letdown by execution. This was done just right. Krasinski is a really good director. It’s an almost totally silent film and you have to know what you’re doing with the camera to tell the story. Not sure how it’ll play with the BGOL crowd — there was some stupid white people stuff that almost took me out of the film in the first ten minutes but after it got going in the 2nd act it was really good.
That 40% hold is really good for Ready Player One. Wasn’t sure how that second weekend was going to be, but it got good word of mouth out the gate.
Tyler Perry’s recent films are usually budgeted around $20 mill or so, but he’s his own entity so it’s tough to confirm.
Blockers made back its budget but it opened on over 3300 screens, so that P&A budget was probably through the roof. That number is separate from the production budget so they’ve got a ways to go before the studio is in the black. Plus it’s not a true tent pole so I’m sure the exhibitors were able to get a nice chunk of that opening weekend vs. what they have to do with Marvel type films where they’re almost showing it for free the first weekend.
They're not wasting any time getting this on home video.

Funny today I was on another board comparing Titanic and Black Panther. I was saying that basically BP's success was really commendable because there are more entertainment options now than in 1997 and there are white people that will not go see it because it's a "black" movie. I was immediately called a racist and told I should change my screen name to 'ihatethewhiteman'
Shits crazy bro
you good over here fam
Ill be shocked if Black Panther does another 40mill! that would be great but highly unlikely..But what Black Panther did was astonishing; I was hoping for it to do like 400 mill. Leaps and bounds above that which is great. No other movie ever has done what Black Panther did/doing; so I can totally live with that...........jus did a lil math ...
i think it jus might get 1.4....( ultron going down...)
i think overseas will power it ...i think the domestic run is almost over ...
probably another 40 mill plus...
but i think we are starting to c the slow burn on the overseas numbers...

Will there be a extended edition for BP?
Hopefully Marvel will not do what the Lord of the Rings did with their DVDs.

will BP still be in theaters when Infinity War drops?
if so, it could increase the numbers again.
knew it
they killed the run already.
movies just won't be in theaters long enough to catch these movies that sat in there for a full year and shit

the dvd release a month from now will push it out the theaters ....thats actually doing a disservice to the run ...
disney being greedy ...smh...make me think they low key trying to sabotage the numbers...

Disney is NOT trying to sabotage anything.
That would be incredibly foolish of them.
After all; who would they be hurting (other than themselves) by removing BP from theaters now....?
Yep. I miss those days. But the theatrical window has changed in relation to how the home video market has. That secondary market which used to guarantee a huge revenue stream long after a movie left theaters with DVD sales and rentals is a lot less generous. Physical media (blu-ray and dvd) are on life support and there just isn’t the same green in streaming, and there’s a ton more content for consumers to get into. So distributors and pro cos are real quick to capitalize off a film’s theatrical to keep their investors happy.

Remember back in the day it took a minimum of 5-6 months AFTER the film left theaters to even see VHS?
now, well in recent years, you can pretty much guarantee the blu ray is dropping 2 1/2 to 3 months from the theatrical release.
and it's a mistake if its a monster the people will buy it in may or sept.
it's a classic movie. there is no time limit it transcends. no need to strike while the iron is hot. it's a volcano it'll always be hot.
