Disney is trying to also have a Star Wars universe
but unlike the Marvel one it needs better direction and leadership.
It didn't really seem like a Star Wars movie at all to me until the Sith appeared the end. It seemed like a heist movie in space. It's just that certain characters like Chewey were easily identifiable.
Make the universe sure but I don’t think anyone sat down waiting and wishing to know Han Solo’s back story first.
Make some Darth Vadar movies. That muthafucka got up to ALOT of carnage between episode 3 and episode 4 surely. Heck the ending of rogue one got people hyped as fuck when he took out all them people like nothing.

yeah i almost fell asleep 2 or 3 times during this movie.
I'm sure Ant Man & Wasp will be a lot better.

Damn Solo is gonna bite the dust, Disney better seriously rethink their strategy because this ain't working and I dug Solo.
I enjoyed the movie for what it was, at least gave me some depth on Han Solo became Han Solo.

Before seeing Solo once.
They aren't having a Christmas release this year, so their next release isn't until Christmas 2019. They have plenty of time to revamp things. The writing needs to get a lot better.
Plus IMAX and 3D money. There was no reason to see it in IMAX or 3D. It wasn't an action packed movie that required you to spend more.
With Moviepass if I like it, I will pay once to see it in IMAX or 3D and then go see it again in standard. I have no desire to see Solo again.

the last jedi was a slap in the face to the majoriy of star wars fans. the director, who also wrote most of it, was given the green light to butcher the franchise by the chick in charge of the star wars brand at Disney. that movie was horrid and the fan are not playing that -ish this go round. time of the year release means nothing. Black Panther, The first Deadpool, Logan were all not traditional release dates and made money because they were good. They don't trust her and there was really no need for this movie. Disney got greedy in this case and is being rewarded for their arrogance. Good.
I'm sure that had a lot to do with it. I think it still would have made more and been in a better position if it came out in December

IMO a guy like Timothy Zahn could be the Kevin feighe (sp) for the star wars movie verse.
There are a ton of star wars books (novel's and comics) that for the most part do a fine job of expanding the SW universe.what do u mean ...i dont follow it that closely....
The best of these was the Thrawn trilogy which introduced grand Admiral Thrawn and imo gave the best interpretation of the clone wars.

While,Ron Howard did direct the movie,he basically had to scrap everything and reshoot the movie. For,whatever reason, Kathleen Kennedy thought it was a great idea to hire two directors that were known for comedy and when she felt the movie was too comedic "they parted ways"when the movie was a year away. That's,when she brought Ron Howard in too "finish" it.
On top,of that many fans didn't want a Han Solo movie and on top of that many fans were still upset about that abomination called The Last Jedi. It doesn't help,Disney could of pushed the movie back when you had the movie sandwiched between Infinity War and Deadpool.
It's crazy,I'm not a Star Wars nerd but I do enjoy the franchise. Out of the movies that came out by Disney,Rogue One is my favorite.
problem is - how many expanded universe writers created quality stories of a similar caliber as Zahn?
