Amara La Negra Is A Fraud

I don't understand. Maybe she tans or she stays in the sun a lot. I dunno but there ain't nothing fake about her skin color - it is what it is. You can go to ATL or Miami or even Texas and see any number of broads her same skin tone.

Years ago, I used to mess with a chick from Carolina that was as dark as her with contacts in and people said the same shit to her.

oNE
she has pics as a kid on her ig with the same skin color.

This child is lost. Her rant is ravaged with so much ignorance that's it's difficult to try to begin to pick it apart but I'll just start and end with:

"Stop trying to find allies with people who call themselves black..."

Let's see.. there's Black British, Black Carribeans, Afro Germans, Afro Portugese.... are we supposed to denounce all of them as well? Because through her logic, culturally they're nothing like Black Americans either. They all have different music, food, dance, culture etc.. I know carribean folks who claim carribean culture first and their blackness second which I have no problem with.

Granted, there are cultural and racial issues in the Dominican Republic but that's about it. Isolated to a country for good reason because the rest of Latin America doesn't have that problem. Anyone here who knows Colombians, Hondurans, Ecuadorians, and of course Brazilians, know this. Brazil has more black people than we do in America. They own their blackness and have far before Amara Le Negra came along. She's just reiterating her stance which is fine.

The problem with this child is that she can't see past her Americanism. She's almost Republican/Patriotic in the way she speaks, in that everything is done through the lens of an American eye, which is simply not the case.

She has drawn her own conclusions as to what Black is through that American lens and has rejected anyone else's culture before understanding that no matter how much she rants, this life is spent in the grey area between culture and race. And the two will intermix early and often so you must get used to it.

It's far more complicated than just black and white but to assume black America is the only way is even more complicating.

Agreed.

Black is your skin color, people can’t denounce where they’re from having everything null and void because your skin color’s “Black”.

I'm west Indian and I always make that distinction because that's my roots , and the question always comes up "where are you from?" So I let it be known early.

Has nothing to do flag or empire its a culture thing. African Americans do the same.

Its definitely a culture shock relocating to America.

a lot of Dominicans and Jamaicans have a problem have with American blacks

Bajans too!!
