Star Wars The Last Jedi (SPOILER Discussion thread)

Saw it yesterday and I was left with disappointment. Felt robbed of a epic Luke Skywalker vs Kylo duel. It was cool having Luke project himself across the galaxy and look like a unstoppable Jedi god to fuck with Kylo but his sacrifice would have been better executed in episode 9 IMO. Rey being a nobody is a complete letdown and hopefully is revealed to be untrue. Kylo becoming the master could have been done in episode 9 early in the film but it was cool how Snoke didn't see it coming. No reveal on who is Snoke was a let down. So many unanswered questions from TFU were just swept under the rug instead of shedding light on the story branches. Going forward into the extended universe I'm looking forward to the prequels. This film just felt like it was rushed in ways.

I really think the empire should have been finished after return of the Jedi. Lucas could have gave us a Jedi version of raiders of the lost arc

That reimagined fight was awesome! I would love for them all to be done again but maybe animated in a way, but just done where the Jedi are dope ass fighters. This cartoon was so underrated. This is the Grievous I wanted.

When they first aired I used to keep up with them. But then they started changing the times. When they aired, and started shorting the animations. Into 3 to 5 minute clips. My favorite one is when mace windu crushed grievious chest.

it's right behind empire strikes back for me. i didn't know alot people didn't like that movie like that. i thought that shit was dope. a real war like movie.
When I saw it in the theater. I feel asleep on it. A really wasn't feeling it until the Vader scene. But I bought it on Blu Ray this summer. Watched it again. And had a change of heart about the movie. To me rouge one is up there as one of the best star wars movies.

My favorites star wars in order is.
Return of the Jedi
Empire strikes back
Rouge one
New hope
Revenge of the sith
The force awakens
Attack of the clones
Phantom menace
The last Jedi

My nigga Yoda was soft

Always running and hiding
lol. yoda went in exile since he felt like he didn't defeat the emperor. that was a good fight though. i laugh every when obi still yoda in revenge of the sith that rather fight the emperor and not anakin because he don't want to fight his brother. yoda almost wanted to tell him "nigga no, die you will , fighting the emperor."

If the Emperor could sense Dark Vader emotions why couldn’t he sense him coming up behind him and thrownimg him over a railing.
Same situation... also sloppy

I continue to think people are just complaining because it’s the BGOL cool thing to do..

But if you watch the original trilogy it’s got Way more problems but we overlook them because it’s a special movie.. it’s close to our heart.

But I think we all had blinders on...
Vader didn't use the force to throw that cat over the rail. Come on. Look at the two situations that you just described. One is an obvious use of the force in front of someone more powerful and adept at the force than he was. Proven by Snoke throwing force lightening at Kylo with no hesitation and disciplining him.

Vader was conflicted, which the emperor felt. Vader was damn near next to Palpatine, picked him up, got electrocuted and threw him over. Minimal force use if any and the distance makes it a non factor.

As far as your comment about Leia and the force. The comics made it clear (they are continuity) that Leia was stronger in the force than Luke.

However in the movies, they didn't really set leia up that much. I can see why people were shocked and a little pissed at Mary Poppins Leia.

I think people have hyped up Ackbar way more then he was ever supposed to be... he only had made 5 lines in Return of the Jedi and I’m watchkmg it now.

I think it’s his “it’s a trap” phrase that has made people think he really was this amazing thing but actually he was just a background character.
Naw man. Ackbar was a military genius. They really fleshed out his character in Clone Wars.
Point is, he is one of the known faces of the rebellion. Him and Mon Mothma.
Wouldve been much better to have him take the last stand instead of some previously unknown character.

that would of been a dope move. but in this era of women heroine in films, they created a legendary soldier from the rebellion we never heard until this film, to teach poe a lesson in leadership and sacrifice her life.

EXACTLY!
That was the point. Shit is crazy. Think about all the shit we have women doing in film that makes no fucking sense and just not plausible. It was an obvious gender move.
Think about Rey's character. What has she sacrificed, learned or had to overcome in her whole story arc? She has sacrificed nothing.

Damn, this seems really divided

I liked it...I liked it a lot

I liked it better than any of the recent ones :dunno:

More power to ya man. I didn't like it that much. Thought it was solid but convoluted and had "twists" for the sake of twists. Each of these new trilogy movies have been a slave to the original trilogy imo. They use those movies to either set up the same kind of result (Force awakens) or use it to do the exact opposite for shock value (Last Jedi)

Missed opportunity for me would have been them using Anakin's force ghost instead of Yoda. Think about how powerful that would have been!

Merry xmas

I guess I'm in the minority. I thought it was dope. I can understand a lot of the comments about disappointment to a degree, but after TFA, I thought this was a nice progression of the story. Guess I tempered my expectations after TFA.

1. Empire Strikes Back
2. Rogue One
3. Revenge of the Sith
4. A New Hope
5. Return of the Jedi
6. Attack of the Clones
7. The Last Jedi
8. The Force Awakens
9. The Phantom Menace

I can fucks with this list...

The only thing that I’d swap would be to move Attack of the Clones below Force Awakens. The C3po and R32 comedy hour was to much... even though I really enjoyed everything else.

I was done Leia flew back to the ship after the bridge got blown up. Only dope part was in Snoke's chamber. And who the hell is smoke anyway?

In the expanded universe Leai is very strong in the force. Even Luke made a reference to his strong Skywalker blood. So that moment despite coming out of left field is just something you gotta roll with.

As for Snoke there are a lot of unanswered questions that deserve payoff. Rey can't be a nobody. Someone had to say hypnotize her and lock away her Jedi training. I don't believe she just a idiot savant in the ways of the force and lightsaber combat.

She shouldve played Rose..
