If Sade Adu was not half white.......

I disagree. I've heard plenty of female singers sing her songs and none capture the essence she brings to them. There a few Sade tribute bands out there. The bands are very good but the singers lack that 'voice'!

Agree.

She may not be a versatile singer, but she do HER songs perfectly.

Sade never sung a song as beautiful as this, or as beautifully,
and yet Mpongo Love lived and died and none of you cared
to know about her....

Nobody is disputing that Sade has a horrible singing voice. It just fits the music and it is unique. There are worse singers out there. At least she sings on pitch!

I would completely enjoy instrumental versions of all of her songs. I'm not saying she has a bad voice. I just think the standout in her sound is the music.

Hasn't she always been a success in England as well? Based on these stats I'd say people all over the world liked her.

We do not judge music by the opinion of cacs; they have never
created material music. My beef in this thread is black America.
Nowhere have you heard me take issue with cacs who know
nothing about music.

specifically talking about sade, this thread is bullshit.

people don't like sade because she's half white, people like her because of the music.

which is in part due to her band which as a whole is called SADE.

You getting side eyes for this. :hmm:
I see you are back. I thought I had dismissed you with
the insignificance you present and represent; however I
will ask you one more question to test your knowledge
of music, how many musicians are in a 4 person band?

brother, I respect you for trying to big up african artists. But, as a general rule isn't it going to be harder for artists singing non english songs to have a consistent impact in the USA? Not a one hit crossover, but a lasting english language career. I don't think it's at all about Sade being light skinned, but about the quality of her music, that amazing band, and her lyrics. They still resonate with people many years after they were originally published. The stuff you are posting may be great, but the sound isn't something that resonates well here. You can't get mad at all of black america because african music isn't being played at the club or at some progressive church. You know, the kind where the young choir leader gets a song and changes the lyrics to christian verses "You wont find me in the club, bottle full of bub, i'll be all up in the church singing of god's love..." type songs
I understand what you are saying, but that is too simple. Millions
of people in the world buy American music who do not understand
English. Africans buy the music of other Africans without understanding
the language. The reason is simply that black people understand music
without needing to understand the lyrics. As I said before, my beef is
with black America. I know how they feel music because I feel it the same
way.

Is her music internationally known? I've never heard of her. Does her music compare to Sade's? I'm just asking. There are plenty of great artists out there who never get the acclaim or success others do. I'm not an 'artist' but I'm a musician and have been playing professionally since the mid 70's. No one knows me but my community. As for the half-white thing......there's plenty of artists who are not mixed who have made it internationally.
Internatially known? Who decides that ? And since when
was ignorance a defence or a criterion of wisdom. Whether
you know her or not has no bearing of the quality of her
music; that state of affairs is a reflection on your knowledge;
no more no less

^^ THis. You beat me by about 1 minute.

Sade drops classics... IN ENGLISH.
All these videos that Zinga is posting in this thread... sounds like they are speaking in multiple / different African dialects.

Black Americans DO NOT speak ANY of those languages. :smh:

So he shouldn't get upset.... if his 'taste' in music isn't widely accepted..... when American folks cannot even UNDERSTAND what the fuck people are singing about on them tracks.

People want to hear / understand / and most importantly... RELATE to the words.

Last time I checked... Sade doesn't just drop purely 'instrumental' versions only of her records.
Folks can relate to her 'themes', album 'concepts'... and especially her 'words'.

That's WHY she doesn't have to be 'the best' singer.
That's WHY it's not about her 'skin tone' either.

People 'feel' her music. And the 'mood' it creates.
Her sound / band ALWAYS creates a certain vibe.
And that's all her fans need / or want.
That's what they PAY for.

Hell, even the Neptunes remixed Sade's material and it was just as "John Blaze" as the original.

By Your Side / Sade

You think I'd leave your side, baby
You know me better than that
Think I'd leave you down when you're down on your knees
I wouldn't do that

I'll tell you you're right when you're wrong
And if only you could see into me
Oh, when you're cold
I'll be there, hold you tight to me
When you're on my outside, baby, and you can't get in
I will show you, you're so much better than you know

When you're lost
You're alone and you can't get back again
I'll find you, darling, and I'll bring you home

And if you want to cry
I am here to dry your eyes
And in no time, you'll be fine

You think I'd leave your side, baby
You know me better than that
Think I'd leave you down when you're down on your knees
I wouldn't do that

I'll tell you you're right when you're wrong
And if only you could see into me

Oh, when you're cold
I'll be there, hold you tight to me

Oh, when you're low
I'll be there by your side, baby

Oh, when you're cold
I'll be there, hold you tight to me

Oh, when you're low
I'll be there by your side, baby

In her life Sade has never and will never reach this level;
May I add that Barbara can play guitar to the high levels
of Africans...

Sade was accepted by Black folks from day One. Below is an interview with Donnie Simpson from BET Video Soul from 1984. Her 1st album was less than a year old.

The most I have ever spent on a concert was $187 per ticket. The wife and I went to she Ms Sade in Orlando and we were a mile away from the stage. That was several years ago.

No regrets.

Sade and her band cannot do this

Read my reply again bro. I was asking a question! I never said anything bad about her music either. You are taking great offense to this entire subject. At this point I don't even care anymore. Do you have an issue with people who are half white? Is that an African thing? Me being a musician...I appreciate all music whether I personally like it or not. If you dig this artist...cool but don't get mad because others don't. There's plenty of artists I can't stand but millions of others do. It is what it is. Take a chill pill on this bro.

Sade and her band cannot do this

This is nice. But how do you know that Sade can't do this? Musically, it's not hard. Can she speak the language? I don't know but internationally known artists typically sing in English. Very few foreign language songs make it to the masses. It's happened though.

Cant argue with you OP. Had this discussion about Bob Marley the other day. Him being half white is no pun half of his success. Him having a great band, great writers, and standing for what he stood for the other. Good post

You like what you like. You can't speak for anyone but yourself. I agree, good music is good music no matter the language. Many Americans want English language music though. I personally listen to a lot of Salsa music. I don't speak Spanish. I love African music and rhythms as well as music from Cuba. I come from a mixed race family and grew up in a household of a wide diversity music wise. I'm also a musician. So I personally have a lot of experience listening to and playing all types of music. I own several records by African artists. I'm no novice. I'm sure you're a proud African and it's cool to share music from your country. But don't slag other artists. Especially those who have sold millions of records and have fans all over the world. Be humble bro.

Nah, he getting the bitch slap for this ..... where my powder at..... :beatyourass:

We were not having a civil debate you fag.... you were trying to disseminate your usual trollish bullshit... big up music from Africa by putting down music from anywhere else and making up bullshit reasons for why music from anywhere else is somehow less than the music you like. I called you on it and you can't take it.
Again dude, you are a confirmed dick watcher, so go back to doing what you love to do most:

It is this sort of behaviour for which my ignore list is so long;
I stated the truth about Sade Adu. Her skill and talent are
marginal, and she carries favour among black Americans
because she is half white. There are many other African
women who are more talented than she is, but you would
never touch them with a 10 foot pole, unless they looked
Ethiopian. I am telling the truth, and you know it.

Listen to the exquisite strings...and the majestic tempo
which is superior to the simple solo rythm of Sade Adu..

Only Africans play polyrythms.. do not ask me why...

This clown always dry hypes his posts...you see maybe like 90 replies...3 or 4 pages...and when you open what turns out to be yet another bullshit Nzinga post........80 of the replies are single responses and posts by op that could easily have been put in one reply !!!:smh::smh::smh:......:hmm:

.

The substandard cac band of Sade Adu does not measure up to Kanam
music. Their arrangements are simple, their skill is rudimentary....and
they have no stage activity. However, those who love to see a half-white
woman may be satisfied with staring at Sade for the 1hr 30 minute of
her concert. Barbara in typical African fashion can go 6 hours non-stop
of superior performance

 keep thinking that fag, and I would be honored to be on your ignore list because it would be proof that you can't take being reminded of your dick watching.
....I'm glad everybody in this thread sees your bullshit strategy: Everything from Africa good, anything not directly from Africa bad. Got it; thanks.

Like most westerners, there is really nothing
live in a Sade concert. You would be no worse
off buying a cd and listening to it

Cool, but all the beats and rhythms sound the same. I guess Africans did invent the trap music every beat the same style after all. Matter of fact, why is trap music more popular in Africa than the stuff Zinger is posting?

Nzinga is a bad promoter of African artists.

It seems like everybody he posts is average and forgettable.

I KNOW the Motherland represents better than what this CAC posts.

Nzinga, don't think I forgot about the time they asked you to post a hand verification, and the hand you posted was a pic found in Google images.

You keep bringing up the half white thing. Posts are getting very trollish. Not sure if serious anymore. No need to keep posting. Let it go bro. How about posting some Angelique Kidjo, Youssou N'Dour, Ladysmith Black Mambaso, Hugh Masekela, Osibisa, Richard Bona, Etienne Mbappé, etc. These are internationally known African artists and musicians. None who are half white.

Man. Are you serious??! Her band is outstanding!! Stuart Matthewman was one of the producers on Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite. Moreover, Sade's success has nothing to do with her parents. When I first was introduced to her music, all I knew is that she was from England. Her music is timeless and was the backdrop for many events in our lives. I listened to some of the artists you shared and while they have beautiful voices, I just didn't feel their music.

 poor little fake African faggot dickwatcher has me on ignore.... I think he's the first to do that in my 17 or so years on here :bravo:

for everyone who isn't a dickwatching faggot, just remember, OP also talked shit about Prince. The same kind of shit he's saying in this thread, and as is his usual m.o. he posted this as an example of someone being a better guitarist than Prince:
