I use Comcast Home and it's perfect. Easy to install or have installation done. Night Vision Cams, Rewind motion events from the Cam. Where I live the respond time was about 15 mins for the police to show up when tripped. You can open up your Cams on your TV, Computer, Phone. I had ADT but I just like the integration with my other Comcast Systems. I've had it about 3 years with no issues.

There are IP & CCTV cameras.. IP cameras use Ethernet cable and most can do power over Ethernet. ( so One cable/camera )
When ever people talk about security cameras someone always says what about wireless.
Unless you already have a power outlet next to where you want to put that camera.. You will have to run wires anyway
Also we all know that wireless signals can be flaky and they will be at there worst when you REALLY need that clear picture.
IP cameras usually have a Much clearer picture than CCTV cameras.
Some very Fancy looking cameras Only work with your phone, So if your phone is off or Your Data plan runs out or you are getting a bad signal
Some of the systems you see on TV have pricy subscription rates you have to pay every month

Take a look at Synology & or Q' Nap security , No monthly fees, record in your home and upload to the cloud at the same time if you want
All those fancy things nest and Ring doorbell can do, Synology can do something close or might put in the software with an update.
Ring Doorbell looks nice but it seems like something you would stop doing after a month
Synology & Q' Nap are really for people that need video to watch their stuff

IP cameras = digital. Uses cat5 wiring and IP address. An NVR (network Video Recorder) is used to record camera footage.

Analog cameras uses RG59 or RG6 wiring (same wire used on your cable or satellite tv). Analog cameras are less sophisticated than IP cameras and is a plug and play setup..... No IP address.

CCTV = Closed Circuit Television. This is a general name used for camera systems.

Ring to make battery and solar-powered spotlight security cameras

Ring
, the start-up behind the doorbell camera of the same name, has added an outdoor light/camera hybrid with multiple power options to its roster of Wi-Fi connected home security devices. The Ring Spotlight Cams will start at $199 and will be available in three versions: wired, battery-powered and solar-powered. You can preorder them in the US and Canada today, but only the wired version will ship in the next seven to 10 days; the battery- and solar-powered version won't ship until the fall.

All versions of the Spotlight Cams have built-in LED light panels that turn on when they detect motion, a 1080p HD camera and two-way audio so you can hear what's going on in front of your camera and can talk to whomever's nearby. The cameras have a 140-degree field of view. The solar-powered cam comes with a Ring Solar Panel to keep the battery pack charged.

The company said the Spotlight Cams, especially the battery and solar powered versions, will help owners add more outdoor cameras to their home security setup either or not you have the proper electrical setup. But the non-wired versions of the Spotlight Cams will cost you more: The solar option is $229, and you'll have to pay another $29 if you want an extra battery for the $199 battery-only version. However, the Spotlight Cam is still cheaper than Ring's Floodlight Cam, a similar hardwired light/camera combo that's $249.

Nest Secure is a $500 home security system

Nest Cam IQ Outdoor brings security to your backyard

New Nest cams and smart doorbell first look

Got a fake cam mounted near my "no trespassing"sign. The five real cams are at the gutters around the property. Costco has a sets of multi infra-reds on sell every few months so check them locally or online. Got a full body view of a knucklehead who thought he was avoiding the fake (@ $20 with a solar battery that just keeps a flashing red light charged) last week. Motion detector activates on the side between neighbor and the spooked jumped like a jackrabbit. He was running from the cops on a B&E at 4:30 am. My final surprise is my motion flood light in the back yard. They caught his dumb ass

fuck nest, a lot of the new cams coming out offer free mobile notifications, live internet streaming, and allow local backup without a subscription

Fuck all that cheap free for everybody save a buck bullshit. I want something that cost real bread but works.

That zoom lens
