Want to set up at least a 4, but would like a 6 or 8 cam system for outside and maybe a couple inside. Ive heard people say that they have the type that are wireless and i heard that the best are hard wired.

I would like the kind that i can pull up on with my cell device or tablet.

Also, i would like a system that can store the video on a huge hard drive that i can access days and maybe weeks later.

Who here has a system and what is the best setup?

Wireless is okay, but wired would be better if there's a chance of interference in your area. A 4 camera 1TB drive system will hold just under 1000 hours of time before overwriting older video.

I set up one of those Sam's Club Samsung systems a few weeks back for my dad's friend a few weeks ago. Use a 11/16ths bit to drill your holes to fit the female connectors inside.

First question is, how much money are you prepared to spend?

I want some good equipment and not just average.

I was hoping a grand would buy what I need but if it's more than that, I'm willing to blow a couple grand... whatever a good system costs.

I've never had a break in attempt, that I know of, but the longer I live in Cleveland, the more weary I am of niggas because the last thing I want to do is blast a fool and have to go thru months of litigation and court proceedings.

You ain't gonna see shit with camera 2. You need a better camera or put a motion sensor light out there.

NVRs will give you the best quality.

Wired is always best.

The more IR LEDs the better lighting you will get at night.

Pay attention to LED range in the camera specs (this is related to the amount of IRs)

Make sure it's also a True Day/Night camera.

Do not point your cameras at light sources or too close to light sources.

The more Megapixels you camera has the better quality it has.

Get a 4 terabyte NVR and set it up for motion recording only on all of your cameras. This would give you longer recording time.

You can also play with the frame rate and lowering the quality of the recording. Beware the frame rate will make your recording seem as though its skipping. In other words you will lose seconds per frame. You are actually adjusting how many seconds of recording per frame.

I will drop some info. Our game is not until 4.

Wireless option is as good as your wifi infrastructure. I use 2 ubiquiti WAPs working as one WAP, ubiquiti is a commercial grade wifi brand. 2 is a bit of an overkill for my 3700 sq-ft crib but it is up to you. For the money ubiquiti performance cannot be beat by any consumer WAP, for example, I haven't rebooted my WAP in over 2 years, knock on wood. For cameras I use Amcrest, they are great reliable cameras without breaking your budget. As far as recording, I use blue iris, which is installed on my always running home server but I think you can set it up on a NAS. Wireless option works best if you don't have time to run wire. If you have a power receptacle you are good to go. A good way to extend were you can put your camera is to use speaker wire to splice in longer sections. I use speaker wire that matches or blends into the surroundings. If you don't know how to splice, find yourself a electronics repair shop and they should be able to hook you up.

I use Alpha Series by Swann for my outside cameras.
And i use a wireless indoor camera inside. The shit is nice, because it picks up audio and has a built in speaker,
so i can press the talk button on my phone and speak directly thru the camera.
I just hate all the extra shit i had to buy with my camera system......like the power distribution box, siamese cables,
pigtails and BNC connectors. That added an extra $250 i had to come out of pocket.
The cables that normally come with the security cameras arent long enough or durable enough, and its best to use Cat6 cables anyway.

Some of yall know some shit about this, huh?

Some good shit in here!

Thanks to everybody!

There are IP & CCTV cameras.. IP cameras use Ethernet cable and most can do power over Ethernet. ( so One cable/camera )
When ever people talk about security cameras someone always says what about wireless.
Unless you already have a power outlet next to where you want to put that camera.. You will have to run wires anyway
Also we all know that wireless signals can be flaky and they will be at there worst when you REALLY need that clear picture.
IP cameras usually have a Much clearer picture than CCTV cameras.
Some very Fancy looking cameras Only work with your phone, So if your phone is off or Your Data plan runs out or you are getting a bad signal
Some of the systems you see on TV have pricy subscription rates you have to pay every month

Take a look at Synology & or Q' Nap security , No monthly fees, record in your home and upload to the cloud at the same time if you want
All those fancy things nest and Ring doorbell can do, Synology can do something close or might put in the software with an update.
Ring Doorbell looks nice but it seems like something you would stop doing after a month
Synology & Q' Nap are really for people that need video to watch their stuff
