►► OFFICIAL UFC 212: Aldo vs. Holloway - June 3rd, 2017

Damnit I had max doing it in 1, but he took 3.

I got nervous the 1st two rounds, but when Max started to speed up I knew it was a matter of time.

I saw that coming after Max survived the first round. Max is a young guy that is physically passing through 145. Conor was a 155er that could still make 145. But 145ers don't have the power to knock them out. In this case Aldo is a small 155er because he has trouble making 145 now. But I could tell, he didn't have the power in his hands to ko max..and he's too short to headkick ko him. He should have ate that leg up and never stopped. That was his only chance.

I have no clue why he didn't throw any leg kicks. Maybe the plan was to throw them later?

Max went the distance with Conor and could use that to start chirping for a rematch at 155 to match Conor's feat as a 2 division champ, but who am I kidding? If Conor wins the Mayweather sweepstakes, he'll never step foot in the octagon again. So...

Conor will be back in the octagon for 2 fights: 1) 170 lbs belt; 2) Trilogy fight with Nate Diaz.

Shit someone just brought up Frankie Edgar on a podcast. I didn't realize this leaves the door open for him to get another title shot. I wonder if he would be able to take Max down and beat him up.

After winning more in one "boxing" loss than he'd win in the remainder of his MMA career? Nah.

That's not even including endorsements and movie deals. The only MMA fight I can see him going for would be Nate Diaz or GSP for that mean green... :money:

Yeah that's still a question mark. Frankie has always been a question mark even for Conor. Aldo just had his number but his style might be able to do something with Max. If not, max is truly the new wave. He kinda ran thru Aldo once he found his rhythm.

Yeah - gonna be interesting to see how these divisions play out. Namajunas might be the next match-up
for Joanna J. The champ (Joanna) has already beat Claudia x 2 and Karolina once. Claudia beat Karolina today, and Karolina beat Namajunas last summer. Conor has already beaten Aldo and Holloway. Aldo lost to Conor, but has beaten Edgar x 2. Does Edgar get a shot at Holloway? Cuz if he somehow beats Holloway, then Edgar-Aldo might happen somewhere down the line and Aldo would probably win yet again. Worth keeping in mind though is that Max has time and youth on his side. Holloway is around 25yo. Aldo is early-30s? Edgar's nearing his mid-30s or so?

Has Nate & Holloway ever fought yet? I think that would make for a good scrap if it hasn't already happen.

Yeah - that was unfortunate with the last minute co-main event cancellation in March. No word on a rescheduled date at this time yet.

There was some rumoured talk about Ferguson-Diaz. No sell though, as Diaz is waiting on a potential trilogy with McG. They both got PPV points on top of the millions they made with their contracts in the rematch. Both their fights are also Top 5 PPV sellers. No Diaz-Holloway fight in the past. Holloway's been at 145lbs, and Diaz at 155 & 170 over his career.

Oh that's right I forgot Connor and Nate moved up. So If Holloway wants his rematch he'd have to prolly meet Conor at 155lbs

Yeah - Nate's been primarily at 155 for the most part. Conor is a wild man at 145, 155, and 170. Wonder what weight him & Floyd would be at if they ever match up this year or next? As for Diaz-Holloway? That would be fun at 155 as Nate is so durable and Max is explosively high-output. He would be throwing the kitchen sink at Mr. I'm Not Surprised, Motherfuckers himself. Plus, Max has so many years to go yet so he'll probably move up a weight class as he gets older. Believe he's 5'11 - so it must be a tough cut, especially years from now when the metabolism slows.

Aldo will be 31yo in Sept.

Edgar's 36 in October.

Holloway is 26 in December.
Aldo definitely has time to adapt his game and maybe beat Max in a rematch later. Plus for some reason he wanted to try to beat dude on the feet. Not one leg kick. But I'm glad Max won. Aldo.... He's just too anti, and Max is better for the sport.

He pulls out of fights, won't learn a lick of English after all this time, just wants to be a fighter, which i understand, but in reality that shits boring lol

Two new guys came in, got on his head to different degrees and merked him.

I kinda hope he goes out on the pasture now. He doesn't seem like the type who will want to fight anyone else out there to get it back. And yeah, now I hope Max does work to Frankie to end the discussion.

Well said, EK. Like you said ... a guy like Holloway is great for the sport. He's been pushing for the UFC to come to Hawaii for years ... he's always exciting ... and has that well-earned 11-fight win strike in the division, and is far more active as a fighter without the long layoffs Aldo's had for stretches in his career. Aldo soured to the sport when he lost in that wild fight with McG, and pushed for the immediate rematch, but instead saw Conor move on to the 3 massive PPV cards without him (Diaz x 2 & Alvarez) ... meanwhile Aldo and Holloway got their big wins last year over Edgar & Pettis in July/Dec' respectively at UFC 200 & 206.

Personally think Holloway would win over Edgar too.
