►► OFFICIAL UFC 210: Cormier vs. Johnson 2 - Apr. 8th, 2017

The UFC is drying up now. No cash cows to sell PPVs. Their new hype's are getting destroyed (Paige Van Zant and Sage Northcutt) or getting popped for weed (Gastelum) They are on a steep decline and will continue to fall.

Bruh y'all keep saying thAt, but UFC has never been as big as boxing. It's at the height of its popularity because of being on Fox.

The people you named including Jones, Rousey, and McGregor are for fair weather fans. The cult still follows regardless.

The cult is what kept them going this long.

Joe even said it last night that fighters are now going to have to turn into promoters under the new management. That means the shit is about to get as commercialised as boxing

People who say that came because of the stars they name anyway.

There's always a percentage of people like that who will drop off, then there are people like me who came in when Rampage, Chuck Lidell, Rashad Evans were the big stars - but stayed because of everyone else I found once I got there. Those people don't seem to notice that stars come and go all the time. Ronda didn't even do anything to become a huge star. She was just a girl who was obviously on a winning run, and was pretty. But she wasn't the only one who was pretty - her and Miesha Tates rivalry made it something. Then she was actively promoted. They can decide to push the same buttons on someone else, and if the audience takes to them then its on.

Now CONOR- He willed his way to stardom. He's really a self promoter who won some key fights when it mattered. He's a rare find like Floyd, or Ali, or Tyson, or any of the other major stars that took boxing higher and higher every era.

And even with all that it'll never be as big as boxing was. Shit boxing isn't even what boxing was.

Cormier killed it on the mic after he won that shit. Calling out two fighters on both sides of the ring was a good look. He's come into his own as the heel. Cashing checks and winning belts.

Sport is just a little over 20 years old. Give it time. MMA gyms have to become more popular. All the dinosaurs still don't embrace it as a sport. Damn, we still don't have any quality MMA gyms in the hood up her in NE Ohio, but boxing gyms are still around.

MMA has a chance of getting huge because the MMA champ for a weight class is truly the baddest person on the planet. I can tell you when Stipe hit Cleveland it was electric. Been there when the Cavs were in the playoffs and it was an even crazier atmosphere.

I think the concussion thing is going to hurt football over the next 10-20 years, and MMA will be the place to see some violence.

Normally I would see that and though I enjoy mma above all sports I see it eating itself before anything else. It's such a high risk sport, even though people will always dare to do it , as soon as they get to a certain threshold you won't be able to cling to certain stars for two long because they fade quickly. Only way they will be able to have stars for longer than 3 years would be if they can kinda fix the sport lol.

That's just my guess tho. I'd love to be wrong.

Yupper. My guy will.be 39 by then. Fuck a rubber match

Especially being nearly 10 years Jones' senior. Crazy how their paths played out.

- 1st match is postponed
- Jones wins in Jan. 2015
- Jones' legal issues
- DC fills in on short notice and defeats AJ for interim title - May 2015
- DC beats Gustaffson - good 5-rounder in Oct 2015
- Jones beats OSP - spring 2016
- Jones is out week of vs DC at UFC 200, Silva steps up on short notice and goes up a weight division from 185 to 205 and DC beats him via decision - Jones is suspended as of July 2016
- DC beats AJ for a 2nd time - April 2017 - Jones is in attendance - AJ retires post-fight

Yeah so fuck a rubber match. DC just wants that W back. And for the gamesmanship between them two, it'd be a perfect way to shit on him. Retire right there in the ring lol

Oh shit I forgot about Cody Garbrandt vs TJ Dillashaw.
Just got announced for UFC213
Either one of them is a star but Cody can be a HUGE star.

Their TUF season as coaches starts in just over a week too leading into that summertime bout.
Yup and that season alone w the beef between them two will build it up. Sheeeyit UFC ain't gone be hurting for stars. I guarantee you there's one on the way we don't even see yet. No one really saw Conor coming.

Ronda popped up overnight as well.

Looking forward to that Dallas PPV next month. 2 title fights on the main card. Poirier-Alvarez headlining the televised prelims beforehand. The first JDS-Miocic fight a few years back was a good battle. Joanna J and Andrade will be fast-paced and high output from both.

Rumble Corner Audio Transcript

As per MMA junkie
Round 1
Voice: Take your time. Nice. Take your time. Don’t take him down.

Hooft: Don’t wrestle him.

Voice: If you’re going to go, go single.

Hooft: You don’t have to wrestle him, AJ. Just relax.

Voice: Don’t wrestle him.

Hooft: Get out of there. Get out of there.

Grappling coach Neil Melanson: OK, stud. Now, let’s get your hands hot.

Voice: Why is he wrestling him?

Hooft: This is stupid.

Voice: Why is he wrestling him?

Hooft: (Expletive) it, man. Just get off the cage.

Voice: Get out of there.

Voice: Why isn’t he listening?

(Johnson and Cormier are broken up by referee John McCarthy, and Johnson lands kicks.)

Voice: He’s tired already, DC. He doesn’t need to do this.

Voice: Why isn’t he listening?

Hooft: I don’t know why he’s doing that. We have no (expletive) eyes.

Break between Round 1 and Round 2
Hooft: Can you tell me why you’re wrestling? Now, you’re not going to wrestle. You take your distance. Stay away, two steps away. Why are you so worried about everything? The kicks and the knees are really good, but no kicks. Where’s your hands?

Voice: You’re doing great. Don’t (expletive) wrestle him.

Hooft: If you stand your distance, it’s an easy game. Why make it difficult?

Round 2
Hooft: Movement. Athletic. Movement. That’s it. Take your distance.

(Johnson reverses against the cage and goes for another takedown)

Hooft: You need distance.

Hooft: I’m not saying nothing.

(Cormier has Johnson on the mat and is setting up a choke)

Hooft: It’s going the same as last time.

(Johnson submits to Cormier via rear-naked choke)

Hooft: Why, why the (expletive) does this happen every (expletive) time, man? Crazy.

I didn't even know they did corner transcripts. If this is real, which I don't see why it wouldn't be. I figured Hooft bailed after the fight because of the dumb way he
was fighting. But at the end of the day, he knew it was his last fight and that was a dick move not to be there.

Jones is going to make DC cry again. I like that DC is embracing the fact that fans hate him, but Jones is the true heel. It doesn't get more black hat than they his coked up post fight bullying of Cormier in their post fight conference. lol

Oh yeah! Joanna vs Jessica is gonna be a beast.

I dunno how Joannathasn't been marketed as PPV star yet. She's totally marketable to me.

Yeah - should be interesting to see if the women's fight goes the full 5 rounds. Andrade throws heavy, and Joanna's known for being more precise and technically brutal. I was hoping she'd get more shine being the co-main event under Rousey back in late-2015 on that PPV card in Australia that drew 55 - 56,000 live and around 1 mill' on PPV buys. Also, being on the main card of the NYC show last November @ MSG. Past 3 wins are by decision. As for who hits harder ... fans should probably ask Jessica Penne. She's been TKO'd by both in her past 2 fights.
