Official NBA 2016-2017 Thread - 30 teams, 1 goal. 2 weeks left, so much can happen!!

If Russ was playing in a winning system for a coach who really wanted to win, there is no way he would have those numbers..
I don't care if he averages a quintuplet double I would not give him the MVP playing the way he plays, because if you give it to him they will send a message to all young players that they now reward selfish stat padders who are more interested in winning metals than actually winning..
Now if he was a young player on a bad team I would understand, but this is his 9th season and has played all his career with talent doing nothing with it..
He has great stats but one number no one is talking about is the fact that he has, by far, the lowest shooting % in anyone in the top 20 scoring.. Matter of fact his overall shooting .422 isn't that much better than LeBrons 3 point shooting .398..
So this is telling me that he don't shoot better, he just shoots more..
lol ....i see russ wont get your mvp vote.

To me the Thunder would have to have a better record than the Rockets for him to win it over Harden, only because I feel they both have similar talent on their teams, and have just as much talent, just one is playing to make his team better while the other is trying to make himself better.

So strange how out of sync the Warriors look without Durant. I know they lost some pieces after last year, but give me a break!

Btw...NBA playoffs start late next month. Teams better start "finding themselves".

I think my Bulls will sneak in...but if we have to battle the Wizards or Cavs in round 1....i think it'll surely be a one and done for us.

Man what the fuck I just saw....

Leonard and Aldridge out for rest
:smh:

Yea crazy they'd be out of sync after learning how to play with him this year for most of the year and then having to adjust on the fly.
And before anyone says anything stupid like "Other teams lost people too" Did those people put up Durant stats? If no, then no.

99% of this is on Kerr.
His rotations have been ass. He's tinkering with the lineups he's not playing McGee or ZaZa
and they aren't focused or dialed in. The team is good enough to win all of these games they've been losing he has to coach better. and he is not he's doing his dumb game 7 routine every night now and it's costing the team when if he'd get out of the way they could win these games.

But most of the main pieces they had before he arrived are still there. There isnt much adjusting that needs to happen. Just do what youve been doing before you got Durant.

I can understand missing what he's provided since he's joined, but lets not act like they were a shitty/confused team before he arrived.

We're not acting like anything. I'm saying it takes more than a moment to adjust to something you been doing all season.
And Kerr is the culprit. He just doesn't make sense. He needs to coach better. A better coach would have resulted in a win in a few of these games.
In this game the game was close and he took out steph and klay and ran with the 2nd string against boston's starters who finished the game because...

He's gotta do better period. He doesn't have them ready to play. They don't play hard. They don't run the offense. They don't get the shots they get when they run the offense and that's independent of if Durant is on the court or not. Lazy basketball and careless basketball and it's always immediately reflected in their turnovers and assists.

23 assists is barely passing the ball for them.
in the closing possessions they had a chance to cut it 6 with plenty of time left and instead of grabbing the rebound they played tip with it and the celtics got 3 offensive rebounds without a true big man on the court.

Lack of everything right now and they better get it together.

Draymond took 15 shots and only had 2 assists. 2.

What? That's it, lol. You think the Warriors are invincible, that's on you. I don't subscribe to that line of thinking. If Durant isn't healthy enough, they can get touched. Especially without the top seed.

Who said they were? You acting like they chasing the regular season record..

You talking about they in trouble if they lose the 1 seed.. and I'm telling you they are not

The problem is that teams are still playing the warriors way tougher and harder with effort than they do against other teams and the warriors this year because of kerr are not matching their hustle or intensity.
Steph came down court on a fast break and dribbled the ball out of bounds with no pressure on him in the 4th quarter. crucial possession.

another crucial possession the celtics got 3 offensive rebounds and the warriors didn't attack whoever thomas was guarding.
celtics basically out hustled the warriors for this win and the warriors didn't offer any fight and that's on the coach.

They're not playing hard at all. and Kerr has to make them. They not going to motivate themselves.

I feel you, but those dudes aren't machines. And that was a crucial possession. They came out of the gate swinging, but that firepower wasn't enough to sustain a lead. There's only so much you can do without Durant. The turnovers started to mount and Boston is good in the 4th. They had some effort, but just ran out of gas IMO.

The sky isn't falling, but that top seed would be a way easier ride to the conference finals. Durant will return, but to what effectiveness?:dunno: We'll see. Maybe they'll figure something out.

They could sustain a lead if they played actual defense and didn't relax or take off multiple possessions. Team are out there actually just wanting it more than it's showing. Along with Kerr doing his best to not have a rotation. It could be a machine. It was a machine last year.

All you gotta do this year is the same thing with durant out. Starters play. 2nd unit comes in runs the offense and maintains it until starters come back in

but people don't know what their roles are because of Kerr nor do they know how many minutes they're going to play because of kerr whereas before it was so easy Walton could do it.

There's no reason McGee couldn't get more than 5 minutes. Every time he's in he's effective. On both ends.
No reason ZaZa only played 18 minutes.
No rhyme or reason and it's just idiocy from Kerr.

Beginning half of the season he wouldn't even call timeouts. He's got to get it together
Ain't nothing new either I been saying this for 3 years.
He needs to do better possession to possession valuing them. He's good at end of game plays and such but he needs to do a better job making them play hard. They had a disrespect incentive last year. This year that incentive isn't there but the intensity of the other team is still there.

Thought about.

You play the Nuggets and the Jazz before the conference finals. It's not about getting there. It's the shape you're in when you get there. Think about that.

Nuggets about to body whoever in that top spot.

Watched the game last night. Cs beat that ass, but Kerr is wild with his rotations. He doesn't trust McGee in the game at the end period. Plus I have no idea why Steph was out so long in the 4th as well as Dray and Klay at one point.

Cs played tough and made big shots. They were pesky on D as well.

Warriors is a smaller team with KD. Makes you appreciate how much he's improved this year when he can actually focus on it instead of worrying about scoring all the time.

Dray got to pick up the scoring slack as well. He is averaging 12.8 since KD went down. He's got the advantage on the perimeter often, so he should really utilize it more, especially since Klay and Steph are in a bit of a shooting slump.
