I wasn't really too crazy about the sample, I don't really touch samples after mid 80s early 90s unless it's just soundtrack/score stuff. I originally gave it a go. I came up with this Premo sounding chop loop with drums and a bass line. I wasn't crazy about it enough to even bounce it, so I left it on the cutting room floor.

:(

Anyway, rather than complain I just quietly sat this one out and hoped the next winner would come with a fly idea for next month. Most of this month's contestants chopped the same section(me too)and the ideas were pretty dope.

JackNickelz: I'm gonna keep it extra garlic with you. I applaud your efforts month in month out. This one was not my taste. I'm more of a Crown Royal guy and this was like a tall can of 211. Like it wasn't all the way trash so I'll just call it litter.

Drowzie: I always appreciate a good bass line. You had one indeed but it didn't seem in tune/key with the sample. Like a few cents either + or - off on the bass module. Dope beat none the less and you are appreciated. Also for them subtle beats with just bass and keys you don't always have to slap them big drums on those. A subtle Kick, Rim shots, tambs/bongos and hi hat work will do. Like more of a jazz/brush kit.

USUKAZ: Only critique I have is to remove some Sustain & Release on that bass. I almost got a headache listening to all that "Dooooooon!!!"

Ghost'Em: You did the most manipulation with the sample, it didn't get stuck in the box genre-wise neither. It sounded like some score work and was dope overall.

bishmon: I would be a lie to say that this didn't sound exactly like my first batch of beats I made when I first learned to use Acid Pro. It would be almost sacrilege for me not to vote for this. It wasn't nothing too crazy but I heard something there that took me to a certain period.

Thanks to all, don't take my words to heart. I'm not exactly award winning right now so this is all subjective opinion. I wish you all well in your travels. Hope to see you all back next month. I'd love to spar.

imma have to go with bishmon because i like that he changed up the sample to where it sounded nothing like the original song (all he really did was slow the pitch, but still),, while all the other beats were really good, they all sampled from the same few bars & began to sound identical,, props tho, because all the beats were nice

First off props to everyone who submitted. I liked them all for what they were. Based off the rules my vote goes to bishmon. He had the best flip. But everybody did well to me.

P.O. called the sample battle and didn't enter :tut:

I didn't enter because I couldn't fuck with the sample. I had some redundant sounda, that no matter how I flipped it or chopped it up, I was never satisfied. Plus hearing the various types of beats entered with the same loop was just unattractive to me.

Overall, the two I decided to go with where the two that changed the sound of the sample. I chose Bishop because it had a nice hip-hop feel to it.

Until next month. Seems like a landslide.
