Monolith Productions' dark Lord of the Rings prequel story, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, will be getting a "Game of the Year Edition" re-release next week, publisher Warner Bros. announced today.

Launching for $49.99 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC on May 5, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition will feature all the currently available downloadable content for the game packed in. This includes the Lord of the Hunt add-on, the Bright Lord campaign and a bevy of bonus missions, skins and equippable runes.

Though Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor was released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 following the initial new-gen launch, it appears that the Game of the Year Edition will not make its way to those platforms.

Does Shadow of Mordor deserve the "Game of the Year" moniker? Well, it took the number four slot in Polygon's staff-wide game of the year list last year, which you can read all about here. You can also check out our review of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, or watch the video below for a look at the game in action.

For the month of May, Xbox Live Gold members will receive three new free games on Xbox One and Xbox 360 as part of the Games with Gold program.
On Xbox One, Xbox Live Gold members can download CastleStorm: Definitive Edition ($14.99 ERP) for free during the month of May. Pool Nation FX ($13.99 ERP) is also being offered for an additional month.
On Xbox 360, starting Friday, May 1st, Mafia II ($19.99 ERP) will be free for Xbox Live Gold members through May 15th. Then on May 16th, Xbox Live Gold Members can download F1 2013 ($39.99 ERP) for free through May 31st.
Read more about May Games with Gold titles over at Xbox Wire.
*Titles are available as free downloads for qualifying Xbox Live Gold members in all markets where Xbox Live is available. Some regions may offer different titles depending on market availability.

Warner Bros has detailed the contents of Arkham Knight's pricey season pass over on Facebook—and one of the DLC bits will let you play as Batgirl. Look, there she is up there, with a cob on that would make Batman smi...that would make Batman glower in sullen approval. In addition to this prequel story that makes Batgirl playable for the first time, we can also expect more Batman story missions, 'Gotham City Stories' that allow us to play as Batman's other chums, plus various character skins, challenge maps and batmobile tracks. So quite a lot of stuff, in other words.

Here's the full season pass breakdown (thanks, Reddit):

"Earlier this week, we announced the Season Pass for Batman: Arkham Knight. While the story of Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham Trilogy will come to a close on June 23rd, we are excited to continue telling stories and delivering more content to explore and play through in the 6 months following the game’s release. We’ll be building more narrative, more missions, more challenges and more characters and vehicles that we want players to experience, even though they didn’t fit into the storyline of Batman: Arkham Knight.

We’ve heard from our community that you want more information on what we’ll be delivering in the Season Pass. While we aren’t ready to unveil every aspect of the content we’ll be developing, we would like to share more detail now to give you a better sense of the scope of the Season Pass.

Batgirl: A Matter of Family

An all new prequel story expansion in an entirely new location where you play as Batgirl for the very first time in the Arkham series - check out the first render of Batgirl.

The Season of Infamy

Play as Batman in all new story missions featuring legendary super-villains invading Gotham City, with new story arcs, missions and gameplay features.

Gotham City Stories

Play as Batman’s key allies in narrative missions extending their storylines, from both before and after the events in Batman: Arkham Knight.

Legendary Batmobiles with Themed Tracks

Drive the most iconic Batmobiles from Batman’s 75-year history, on custom-built race tracks, each themed to that Batmobile’s specific era. Every Batmobile will be drivable across every race track.

Crimefighter Challenge Maps

Engage in a series of new challenge maps utilizing the unique play styles of Batman and his allies.

Character Skins

A variety of skins from across the eras for Batman, Robin, Nightwing and Catwoman. As we fully ramp up development on the Season Pass, we will be sharing even more details on each monthly content drop. We hope you enjoy playing Batman: Arkham Knight as much as we’ve enjoyed making it."

The Dragon Age: Inquisition Multiplayer DLC, Dragonslayer, arrives FREE on Tuesday, May 5, on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360, Bioware has officially confirmed.

This new free Dragon Age: Inquisition DLC is an expansion for multiplayer called Dragonslayer that allows players to craft an item called the Dragon's Call and players face off against various dragons as one could guess easily.

The pack's featured players are three new Inquisition agents, Avvar warrior Skywatcher from the Fallow Mire, Zither! the Virtuoso (who was first revealed as an April Fools' Day joke on the game's official website), and Isabela, Raider Queen of the Eastern Seas fromDragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2. This content also includes Ferelden castle as reported by Gamespot.

In related news, BioWare has also announced that single player DLC Jaws of Hakkon will be released on May 26 for PS4, PS3, and Xbox 360. Gameranx reported that there will be new content in the game's single player this week while the Black Emporium Update is set to rollout on Tuesday at no extra cost.

The Black Emporium that previously appeared in Dragon Age 2 and Xenon the Antiquarian returns with a collection of weapons, accessories, crafting materials, and other rare items. Gamers can now change their Inquisitor's look in the 'Mirror of Transformation' and for those who have played Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2 can acquire two additional thrones; the Legacy Ferelden throne and the Legacy Kirkwall throne.

You can find out more about free Dragon Age Inquisition: Multiplayer DLC Dragonslayer via this link.

Both the Dragon Age Inqusition Multiplayer DLC, Dragonslayer, and Black Emporium Update arrive free on Tuesday, May 5, across multiple platforms while the single player DLC, Jaws of Hakkon releases May 26 to PS4, PS3 and Xbox 360 which was first released to Xbox One in March under a timed exclusive deal with Microsoft.

$40 for a season pass is robbery. I never cared for the predator and combat challenge rooms. The new bat mobile challenges don't interest me either. If it's not story dlc missions I'm not buying it.

Batman went from a day one buy for me, to a I'll wait until the price drops then ill cop:lol:

It's still a day one buy. Nothing else drops for me but 2K16. When is the Witcher release date or did it get pushed back again. Gonna get Mighty #9 in September.

Here are this week’s games and add-on deals on the Xbox Games Store. Discounts are valid now through 11 May 2015.

DRAGON AGE™: INQUISITION Official Trailer – Dragonslayer (DLC)

A new rumor claims that Microsoft will add some kind of TV DVR features to its Xbox One console, possibly by the end of 2015. The news comes in the wake of Microsoft confirming that it will not provide the Windows Media Center features in Windows 10.
Paul Thurrott, who has covered the Microsoft beat for a long time and has sources inside the company, mentions the Xbox One TV DVR addition in his post about the end of Windows Media Center today.
"Of course, many Media Center fans actually use the product to record and watch TV shows via Media Center PCs in the living room. Microsoft's solution for this need will apparently be the Xbox One, though the console currently only provides live TV watching, but not recording. My sources tell me that will change, and most probably this year, to include TV recording."
Rumometer_7.png

Microsoft has promoted the Xbox One as a TV set-top box since its launch, offering users a way to watch live television through the console, along with their their current TV listings in the UI. Microsoft sells an optional digital TV tuner for the Xbox One in Europe and recently added support for over-the-air TV tuners in the US and Canada.

However, the current 500GB hard drive size for the Xbox One could be an issue for any DVR feature as Xbox One owners will likely have games and other media stored on the drive already. If Microsoft were to add this feature in an upcoming software update, owners will likely have to purchase an external hard drive to store their TV recordings.

Thanks to Brent for the tip!

The Internet’s angry at something new every day. With P.T., there’s a good god damn reason.

Look, I don’t give a shit that Konami and Hideo Kojima are having a spat. I care about Konami burying an amazing piece of gaming history, and players not having any way to stop them.

Here’s how I feel right now:

axys3nfdise6gefag0cf.jpg

I don’t know who made that image (if you did, let me know), but you’ve captured my heart.

We’re used to older games being shuffled into the background when new hardware comes out. At best, we’re given a chance to spend more money to play games we already own. At worst, we’re driven to piracy in order to have experiences we’d be happy to pay someone for.

Unless something changes, P.T. is doomed to the second fate, meant to fall through the cracks. Given we’ve barely scratched the surface on emulating PS3 and Xbox 360 games, playing P.T. on anything but a PS4 with P.T. pre-installed won’t happen for a long time.

The games industry is not good at preserving its own history. We have to rely on people in the darker corners of the Internet fighting the good fight, even as the industry tears them down.

Konami funded P.T., so hey, they can do what they want, but when a game’s released into the world, it’s more than a product that generates revenue for a bottom line (or, in this case, potential revenue). If it’s lucky, it becomes part of gaming culture, and P.T. definitely was.

In the same week, we’ve seen what’s both amazing and upsetting about the advent of digital distribution. The Adventures of Tron Bonne, a rare Mega Man spin-off for the PS One, was regularly going for more than $200 on eBay. Now, it’s available on PlayStation Network for $6. P.T., one of the best horror games of all-time, is now longer available. Period. It’s totally gone.

It’s fine that Konami doesn’t want to make Silent Hills. Games are cancelled all the time, and we’re forced to wonder “what if?” over beers. It happens. There’s no way to know whether Silent Hills would have been any good. P.T. did exist, though, and it was absolutely horrifying.

We’re just a little over two years into this console cycle, which means millions of people have yet to buy a PS4. So many people will never get a chance to play P.T. How many thousands weren’t even aware P.T. was coming off the store or simply forgot to put it in their download queue?

And, yes, the puzzles are bad. Granted, Hideo Kojima and his team figured it would take the Internet weeks to figure out the riddle—when will people stop doing this?—which probably explains why the rest of P.T. is a mess. It’s purposely obtuse, meant to encourage collaboration, and makes everything after that heartbreaking scare an exercise in frustration.

I’ve never beaten it, and I don’t care.

P.T. was hardly perfect, but the first 30 minutes, everything leading up to the game’s biggest scare, are close. One of my new, favorite pastimes is to hand the controller to someone who’s never heard of P.T., and wait for this monstrosity to creep up from behind and ruin everything.

Bless you, P.T. See you next Halloween.

Anyone getting Witcher 3? I'm on the fence about getting a huge game with multiple hours of gameplay. Arkham Knigh drops in June so I'm going all in on that.
