Drake Coughs Up $100K To Rappin 4 Tay For Biting His 'Playaz Club' Lyrics

A dope line is one thing....but stealing whole cadences, song structure and lyrics is another.

An artists CREATES something new, anyone can steal and change a word or two. That's why we revere and celebrate artists

Hip Hop has been hijacked, no one is original now it's all corporate rehashing to cash in

Idk
Not sure i can name an artist who hasn't reworked something.
Biggie has done it
Mos def and talib have done it
nas has done it
Black thought has done it
It's a part of hip hop

right...they do this all the time.. giving props

4-tay is just broke! and grabbed some money:lol:

Yea this kind of like a unwritten rule man. You don't sue for no shit like this. And 100k for a feature verse on YG shit? Hell nah....I don't blame him though. Its not like he out here doing anything so shit scoop the 100k up if you can.

I didn't know dudes could sue for that shit lol. French Montana needs to be on look out. He better keep biting BIG and Pac since they're dead.

BTW, let's not get this twisted.

There's a difference between paying homage and just biting.

I know it just shows me as being an older man, but I hate when young people hear some stuff they like and think it's new, and then I be like, "Dogg, that's Biggie!" Or, "Aww man, he got that from a rapper named Tech 9ne!"

This right here is an example of that. Borrowing a line is cool - whole verses are not cool.

Her is an example of what's cool...

What about when BlackStar redid slick rick's children's story

Well, I'm mean...there's a difference between jackin' and a tribute (paying homage).

When Snoop Dogg did a rendition of Slick Rick on his first album, it was obviously a tribute and he said it afterwards. What Black Star did was a tribute.

What DJ Quik did was a tribute

Drake would have never said a damn thing about Rappin' 4 Tay.

He didn't deserve shit for them weak ass lyrics. A Drake verse probably would've been more profitable.

Word ? 4tay's lyrics were about the reel to reel and the SP-1200 beat machine, very clever metaphor for early rap studio production. Drake just talking about the lowest common denominator - sex and girls.

Drake make more money though !!! and he got bitches man !!!

Jay definitely owes Bun B then..... 99 Problems/Touched

Rappin' 4-Tay Calls Out Drake for Copying His Lyrics On YG's "Who Do You Love"

Earlier this week, the record "Who Do You Love" from YG featuring Drake surfaced online, with Game jumping on the unofficial remix soon afterward. Produced by DJ Mustard, the record is deeply rooted in a Bay Area sound that has become synonymous with Mustard's style, and each rapper does their part to pay homage to the West Coast. Apparently, Drake went a little too far with his lyrical tribute. Veteran San Francisco MC Rappin' 4-Tay has called out the Toronto native for copying his rhymes on the song.

Drake starts off his verse rapping:

I got a shorty name Texas and
She got a buddy name Young JB and now you know the deal
We turnt up in the studio late night
That's why the songs that you hear are comin' real tight

This follows 4-Tay's formula on his 1994 single "Playaz Club":

I got a ho named Reel-to-Reel
She got a buddy named SP 12, now you know the deal
We gets freaky in the studio late night
That's why the beats that you hear are coming real tight

Rappin' 4-Tay voiced his displeasure on Twitter, saying Drake used his lyrics without paying homage. 4-Tay also tweeted at Drake to direct message him about the situation.

Back in 2010, Drake pulled a similar move by reciting lyrics from dead prez's "Hip Hop" on "Over," the lead single off his debut album Thank Me Later. "One thing 'bout music: when it hits, you feel no pain/And I swear I got this shit that make these bitches go insane," he rapped. But no issue between Drake and dead prez arose after the song's release.

Probably because dead prez copped those lines from bob marley's trenchtown rock
