<p></p>
<p><strong>Rappin 4 Tay</strong> and <strong>Drake</strong> have settled their differences over borrowed lyrics after Drizzy agreed to pay the Bay Area rapper <strong>$100,000</strong>, according to <a sl-processed="1" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.tmz.com/2014/07/16/drake-who-do-you-love-rappin-4-tay-playaz-club-stolen-lyrics-settlement/" target="_blank">TMZ</a>.</p>
<p></p>
<p>The situation came to light earlier this year when 4 Tay, real name&nbsp;<b>Anthony Forté,</b> accused the <strong>OVO</strong> boss of reusing his 1994 <em>"Playaz Club"</em> lyrics during his verse on <strong>YG's</strong> single <em>"Who Do You Love,"</em> which was released in February 2014.</p>

<p></p>
<p>On <em>"Playaz Club"</em> 4 Tay raps:</p>
<p></p>
<p><em>"I got a ho named Reel-to-Reel/ She got a buddy named SP 12, now you know the deal/ We gets freaky in the studio late night/ That's why the beats that you hear are coming real tight/ Something to roll to, something to stroll to/ If you's a playa in the game this will hold you/ Mo money, mo money for the bank roll/ Stick to the script, don't slip in the '94/ A lot of fools put salt in the game/ Till these women get the notion that they running the game."</em></p>
<p><a sl-processed="1" href="http://api.ning.com:80/files/*whl3J3XpWQyJxkqk*8WfQ0smMxGa6VYou5Lv5utvZTzouxSLotTBp5djwj*Fs3D5iMiOjiFRs*d7zsohlKeLQERJ1EK*LtR/drakerapperofyear.jpg" target="_self"><img src="http://api.ning.com:80/files/*whl3J3XpWQyJxkqk*8WfQ0smMxGa6VYou5Lv5utvZTzouxSLotTBp5djwj*Fs3D5iMiOjiFRs*d7zsohlKeLQERJ1EK*LtR/drakerapperofyear.jpg" width="430"></a></p>
<p></p>
<p>Drake's lyrics on <em>"Who Do You Love"</em> are nearly identical.</p>
<p></p>
<p><em>"I got a shorty name Texas Syn/ She got a buddy named Young/ JB and now you know the deal/ We turnt up in the studio late night/ That's why the songs that you hear are comin' real tight/ OVO crew, n*gga, thought I told you/ If you a player in the game, this should hold you/ And man shout my n*gga Game he just rolled through/ Eatin' crab out in Malibu at Nobu/ A lot of fools puttin' salt in the game/ Until these women get the notion that they runnin' the game"</em></p>
<p></p>
<p>4 Tay was offended that Drake, real name,&nbsp;<strong>Aubrey&nbsp;Drake</strong><span><strong>&nbsp;Graham</strong>, didn't credit him for the lyrics. No lawsuit was filed, but the two reached an out of court financial agreement that puts the issue to rest.</span></p>

:lol::lol::lol::lol: When I first heard Drake's verse I was like WTF this nigga strait jacked 4tay's whole first verse. :smh::smh::smh:

well, if this is the case, then Jay Z would be broke right now......How many Biggie lines did Jay Z bite?

This move shames Jay Z. He owes all the nineties rappers that check. Nas, Biggie, Tupac, Big L, Eminem...

Drake loves the Bay Area, he didn't want to be scared coming here. He just wants to be friends with everybody. He didn't want it with any bay rapper. He just paid for any potential beef to go away.

...and that's a smart move, too bad people know about it........(they should have did that shit, quietly)

Point is stop biting lyrics ! Drake has jacked a lot of lyrics.

If you have to steal cadences and lyrics you aren't an artist you're a fan...you should go find a cubicle to work in

Rappin' 4-Tay Calls Out Drake for Copying His Lyrics On YG's "Who Do You Love"

drake_rappin_lyrics.jpg

Earlier this week, the record "Who Do You Love" from YG featuring Drake surfaced online, with Game jumping on the unofficial remix soon afterward. Produced by DJ Mustard, the record is deeply rooted in a Bay Area sound that has become synonymous with Mustard's style, and each rapper does their part to pay homage to the West Coast. Apparently, Drake went a little too far with his lyrical tribute. Veteran San Francisco MC Rappin' 4-Tay has called out the Toronto native for copying his rhymes on the song.

Drake starts off his verse rapping:

I got a shorty name Texas and
She got a buddy name Young JB and now you know the deal
We turnt up in the studio late night
That's why the songs that you hear are comin' real tight

This follows 4-Tay's formula on his 1994 single "Playaz Club":

I got a ho named Reel-to-Reel
She got a buddy named SP 12, now you know the deal
We gets freaky in the studio late night
That's why the beats that you hear are coming real tight

Rappin' 4-Tay voiced his displeasure on Twitter, saying Drake used his lyrics without paying homage. 4-Tay also tweeted at Drake to direct message him about the situation.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>New Song w/ <a href="https://twitter.com/YG">@YG</a> Feat <a href="https://twitter.com/Drake">@Drake</a> In This Song Drake Copys My Lyrics &amp; Lines From My PlayazClub Song &amp; Pays No Homage! ??? <a href="http://t.co/GzzKW6vDfM">http://t.co/GzzKW6vDfM</a></p>&mdash; Rappin' 4-Tay (@rappin_4tay) <a href="https://twitter.com/rappin_4tay/statuses/417852679683993600">December 31, 2013</a></blockquote>

Back in 2010, Drake pulled a similar move by reciting lyrics from dead prez's "Hip Hop" on "Over," the lead single off his debut album Thank Me Later. "One thing 'bout music: when it hits, you feel no pain/And I swear I got this shit that make these bitches go insane," he rapped. But no issue between Drake and dead prez arose after the song's release.

Drake just paid a ton of respect to Rappin' 4-Tay -- in the form of cold, hard cash -- to settle a beef in which 4-Tay claimed Drizzy jacked his rhymes.

4-Tay first put Drake on blast when YG's hit "Who Do You Love" came out. Drake drops lyrics on the song that are clearly ripped straight from 4-Tay's 1994 hit "Playaz Club."

4-Tay was offended Drake didn't give him credit on the song. No lawsuit was ever filed, but sources close to the situation tell us a very lucrative agreement was reached.

4-Tay's manager tells TMZ ... Drake's record label agreed to pay 4-Tay $100,000 for "borrowing" the lines

[Verse 1: YG]
I'm that nigga with the plugs
I'm the nigga who got homies that be sellin' drugs
I'm the nigga on the back street
With the fat heat, niggas better run like athletes
I'm that nigga, I'm that nigga
My Bank of America account got six figures
I'm that nigga on the block
Police pull up, I'm tryna stash the Glock
You that nigga on the low-low
You're the nigga, you're the one that be talkin' to the po-pos
Porsche sittin' on Forgi's
Niggas can't afford these
The Panamera shittin' on the 9-11
I call my homies, not 911
I'm the nigga with the juice
But I'll never do my nigga like Pac did Q

[Hook: YG]
Bitch, who do you love?
Bitch, who do you love?
Bitch, who do you love?
Bitch, who do you love?
Bitch, who do you love?

[Verse 2: Drake]
Champagne
I got a shorty name Texas Syn
She got a buddy named Young JB and now you know the deal
We turnt up in the studio late night
That's why the songs that you hear are comin' real tight
OVO crew, nigga, thought I told you
If you a player in the game, this should hold you
And man shout my nigga Game he just rolled through
Eatin' crab out in Malibu at Nobu
A lot of fools puttin' salt in the game
Until these women get the notion that they runnin' the game
They got money that they jumpin' on the pole to make
Did the motto, took a flight to the golden state
I'm the general, just makin' sure my soldiers straight
Had to leave my nigga, homie got an open case
But I'm big on the west like I'm big in the south
So we gon' pay some people off, we gon' figure it out
And my name too big, and my gang too big
Young Money shit, me and Lil Wayne too big
I'mma crush that ass even if it ain't too big
I would pinky swear but my pinky ring too big
Wassup

[Hook: YG]

[Bridge: YG]
I'm that nigga, I'm that nigga
Bank of America account got six figures
I'm that nigga on the block
With the fat heat; run like athletes
I'm that nigga, I'm that nigga
Bank of America account got six figures
I'm that nigga on the block

[Hook: YG]

[Outro]

 4tay had to do this even if it was homage, most the drake fans wouldn't know it, they'd think it was original. But yeah I agree about the Jay-z shit we been saying that for years and Drake probably did overpay but to me that shows respect for than just trying to sweep it under the rug.

It was paying homage nothing more.

But since its Drake, its a bigger problem

Im sure that 100k was chump change, but a lot of 4Tay!

Most artists do this.
Reworking a dope line IS homage imo.
Its kind of like an Easter egg for hip hop fans.

A dope line is one thing....but stealing whole cadences, song structure and lyrics is another.

An artists CREATES something new, anyone can steal and change a word or two. That's why we revere and celebrate artists

Hip Hop has been hijacked, no one is original now it's all corporate rehashing to cash in
