I don't think he's educated on 90's rap. Young people in general.
In R&B we promote Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye. They're revered. In rap that isn't done. It's he's old or that was my daddy's shit. In rap it's constantly promoted that you need to stop rapping at 30.
It's like in rap we only teach Biggie and Tupac from the 90's, so I could see where he gets that, because it's a problem with the culture overall.
Look how the radio plays mostly new shit unless you have a DJ who is older they might play older stuff on Friday or Saturday night.
the issue i have with staples' project is his beat selection. dope emcee , but his production was vibing with my ears. the crazy thing is he has cope producers making his beats (no id, dj dahi)
