He also has very fast hands, and in the Spurs game it was clear that Parker was frustrated by his defense.. One announcer even commented, he never say, he never seen Parker disrupted that much by one guy. Been watching Cole from day one, and I have a feel of the type of players he matches up well against, believe it or not, he also matches up very well vs Rose. He's a pesky defender not a good defender. He's actually not very good with keeping guards in front of him. He just moves his feet a lot and it "looks" like good defense. I've watched enough Norris Cole to know what he is.
Only one game Parker scored 32 but then again he held him to 13,17, and 20.. If he puts up those numbers vs the Heat, and Duncan fails to score 45, its lights out..You're smoking Crack. Curry got cooked by Parker. He couldn't do shit with Parker as Curry is not a good one on one defenser...better than Thompson but still not a good defender.

Basically to have a chance Parker is going to have to out score or come close to out s..
Curry wasn't even defending him a majority of the time. They started switching him off and putting Jack on Parker and going to the smaller lineup. You can't hold a defender to anything when you aren't defending him and you're not a good defender in the first place.
Spurs aren't build around Tony scoring a lot of points. He's a PG. He also distributes. Tony had games in this playoffs where he had 17 points and 18 assists. That's the tony you don't want to see because that means everyone is scoring.
I'm suprised you're sounding so gotdamn silly in this thread. The Spurs don't need Parker or Duncan a lot of points to win. They want everyone distributed. A sure fire way for them to lose would be parker and duncan dominated the ball. Everyone knows that and that would never happen. Their players are too smart to do something so stupid.
It's the role players that you don't want scoring.

Stop with the dumb shit. The Spurs don't need to worry about scoring points. They score 100+ a game. They never have problems scoring. The issue is whether Pop will devise a defensive scheme to contain Wade (because Lebron is going to get his) and keep the Miami shooters off the three point line. Chicago and Indiana give Miami problems because they dont need to double and send as much help. The issue is going to be if the Spurs can defensively handle their assignments one on one.
Will the Heat beat the Spurs if they play? Who knows, this is why the games are played... But as a honest basketball fan (my allegiance to the Heat put aside) t.
Doesn't matter unless you can convince me the Spurs will score at least 110 or find a way of holding the Heat to under 110 its just a moot point.
The simple fact that you are leaning on Cole to stop Parker as the core of your argument should pretty much let anyone know that you're a homer.
Most teams in the NBA are incapable of guarding against the pick and roll, the Heat may have problems rebounding and other things, but their strength is guarding the pick and roll, and to beat the Heat they may be force to score more than they average (due to so many S.A. mismatch on defense) I just don't see that happening ..They score 100+ a game.
aside from that, stopping tony parker is not the key to "stopping tony parker".
This is a logical fallacy. The Heat don't even average 100 points a game in the playoffs so why would anyone need to make an argument for 110 points (and they scored 105 in one game and 88 in the other during the regular season against the Spurs). However now they are just gonna start scoring 110 a game? You're such a fucking homer that you are creating ridiculous hypotheticals. Stop the bullshit RR. You should be better than this.

If you take away the pick and roll, then where is the scoring going to come from? And unlike Indiana and Boston, they wont be able to man handle the Heat in the paint, so don't expect the same 2nd chance rebound put backs either.I'm not even sure why RR is making that argument in the first place. Since when has the story been "The Spurs will only go as far as Tony Parker takes them"?
The Heat has played the Bulls and Pacers, teams who match up better against them by packing the paint, .
Something Pop mastered all those years going against Shaq, he wouldn't double...he'd go straight up & deal with the consequences. I don't see the Heat with anyone outside of Lebron you'd double. The only time I'd double down is when he posts, make him come off the ball or spin inside...cause he killing George spinning baseline.
Cuban talk about this damn near anytime he talk about the Heat & he asks why don't teams do what the Mavs did against them: mix your defensive coverage. If you don't change, the Heat will kill you...Spo is pretty good at figuring out the opponent & adapting. We rotated 3 different guys on Bron & switched from zone to man numerous times. You gotta know Pop is going to devise a better scheme than Thibs & Vogel.

Ok is Curry a better defender than Conley, hells no, however Curry speed bothered Parker and held him in check most of those games as opposed to Conley who got carved like swizz cheese...
Parker averaged 22.5 ppg against Curry, what are you talking bout dawg??? He went for 13, 25, 17, 32, 20, & 28. That's not holding him in check bro.
22.5 will not cut it vs the Heat...

I came up with that number based on a conservative yet realistic stat line I expect vs the Spurs... I didn't go crazy giving Wade 30 and James 40.. I then added up the tally and came up with 110.. I really don't see the Spurs being able to be successful in running their pick and roll offense nor do I see them being able to slow down the Heat offense enough to beat them more than one game..You're real good as moving the goal-posts man. You've been talking shit 110 point a game shit when not only do the Heat score less than 100 a game in the playoffs but average well less than 100 against the Spurs. So how in the hell are you telling people that unless the Spurs can score 110 a game they can't win?
You're making a bunch of silly-ass arguments.
I believe Miami will win but it won't be because of the reasons you're giving.
With Shaq you could put one of your best defender one on one against him (Duncan) and though he is not the physical beast Shaq was, Duncan did have the foot speed to at least slow him down and make him play on both ends of the floor...

I came up with that number based on a conservative yet realistic stat line I expect vs the Spurs...e..

Why are you under the illusion that the Spurs can only score if they run a pick and roll? Even if Miami could cause problems for their pick and roll, to follow your logic one has to presuppose that the Spurs are so offensively-challenged that they depend on once scheme to generate points.
The Spurs don't have a problem scoring points.
The key for the Spurs is gonna be what kind of defensive schemes that Pop runs take the Heat role players out of their sweet spots (haslem off the baseline jumpers, Allen off the curl corner threes...Bosh off the 15 footer from the right block, etc).
Think of the Heat as a bigger stronger, more athletic version of the Warriors with the ability to take it to the hole almost at will..

Dude did you just start watching hoops in 2011? Duncan DID NOT guard Shaq. Duncan stayed at the four & no...the Spurs did not "slow" Shaq down, they just beat everyone else & destroyed them defensively with the pick & roll.

Why the fuck would anyone be dumb enough to do that when the Warriors play NOTHING like the Heat ??
That's fucking retarded RR.
Yep. You need a big man, a good-fast scoring PG, and some shooters to beat the Heat. Spurs have the personnel. However, Miami is just the more talented and faster team and I think that will win out over the course of a 7 games series. But the Spurs are obviously the team that match up best against Miami considering the available teams. The Spurs gave Miami a run when they rested damn near their entire starting lineup.
Norris Cole is not the type of player to stop Parker. Stop that dumb shit. Cole is an average defender at best.
it's not going to be Tony Parker vs Cole. it's going to be Tony Parker vs Bosh or whoever is playing Tim Duncan. Ok is Curry a better defender than Conley, hells no, however Curry speed bothered Parker and held him in check most of those games as opposed to Conley who got carved like swizz cheese..
Against small fast guards the best weapon is a small guard with quick feet... Against a physical strong guard the best defender is a stronger bigger guard..
I wonder how many screens Conley got hit with over a course of 4 games from guarding Parker?
Most of the time when the Heat get up to the 110 level they pull their starters out and call it a day, and they do this way more than most teams..How in the fuck are they conservative if they are FOURTEEN POINTS higher than what the Heat averaged against the Spurs during the regular season. Are you fucking serious??![]()
