Thanks, brother. I often find the TV cards are easier to take when DVR'd given all the commercial breaks (and them running the same ads). Hard to sit by through them all. I haven't spoiled any of the results yet either surprisingly ... usually I'll fuck that one up by refreshing email, Twitter, or FB. I just refreshed FB and an MMA site had a picture of Henderson/Melendez and it said - "YOUR THOUGHTS?" - and I quickly closed the window like OH SHIT ... ALMOST SPOILED THAT ONE! - going to check them now

Big fan of both cats. Melendez is tough/durable and has good cardio. As for Henderson ... he's a proven champ (WEC/UFC). Is damn near impossible to submit. Has a gas tank & can go the full 25 as he's proven numerous times ... has a perfect record of 7 or 8 straight wins since merging with the UFC back in early-2011 after his great WEC run (and that amazing fight with Anthony Pettis at WEC 53 in mid-December 2010 - one of the best MMA fights most of us have probably ever seen). I had Henderson for my pick √

I was impressed with all the stoppages from the Team Alpha Male cats (Dillashaw, Benavidez, Mendes). awww....man, I only intermittently peeped the undercards, yeah....I just missed the Diaz knock-out by a few seconds, I was glad Diaz went down. I think that was the same Diaz Brother who fought Benson and raised his middle finger in the middle of the fight. That Josh Thomson head shot on Diaz was brutal, had his corner throwing in the white towels.

- Mad props to Henderson/Melendez on the main event performance(s). Both legit fighters. Both cats bringing it. Well-matched & good cardio/endurance shown.

- Effective usage of grappling and striking from Cormier over Mir. No point going to the ground with Mir. DC = former Olympic wrestler & Velasquez training partner at AKA. Mir = high-level BJJ black belt for years. DC didn't want to see how their wrestling and jiu-jitsu would match up. No point. Grapple the fuck outta the more battle-worn, over-the-hill Mir.

Big ups to Thomson. Great mixture of striking & finishing instinct.

Props to all the Team Alpha Male fighters on their stoppages.

Great mixture of KOS/TKOs on the prelims from several fighters.

Solid stoppage from Myles Jury over Ramsey Nijem. Caught him well.

Big ups to Matt Brown ... he's been in the UFC for some 6 years or so. Proved himself a mature, tough dude during his days on TUF years ago. Is currently on a 5-fight win streak and brought the scrap to my fellow Canadian Jordan Mein ... didn't allow him (Mein) to work his striking or elbows. Like fam' said earlier in this thread ... Mein was hesitant and timid in the 1st round. He caught Brown with that great body shot, but proper recovery from Brown and a great stoppage in the 2nd. Even more impressive with Brown is knowing he's on this current 5-fight run ... and just a few short years back he had lost 4 of 5 and was on his way OUT of the organization. Give him another win or two ... and he's probably a potential contender (despite the fact that he isn't a marketable household name). He's in a tough spot in that regard though, for real.
