Certs..What have you obtained this year or in the process of obtaining?

wish I could trade places with you, that on the job training + classroom training is definitely a recipe for success..

I sure hope so.

I've noticed most of the other students working there like to just sit around or play on the computer. It allows me to do more of the hands-on with the staff and soak up as much as I can.

can you share some insight on the network + certification test

Thanks bro

I would describe it as a relatively easy exam. If you are not already knowledgeable about networking, look at the professor Messer videos for Net+.

http://www.professormesser.com/free...omptia-network-certification-training-course/

For those interested in the Network+ cert, here is some more detailed feedback. This exam is more broad than deep. The exam doesn't "drill down"on any topic. Often, you can figure.out the correct answers with knowledge of acronyms and enough knowledge to eliminate an answer or two. Here is an example Of a Net+ question:

You want to ensure that you are transferring a file using encryption - which of these protocols do you use? 1) SMTP 2)Telnet 3)SFTP 4)HTTP. Now, if you know enough to say rule out http and SMTP since one is for web traffic and the other is for email, maybe you narrow it down to telnet and SFTP. If you remember that the S in SMTP stands for SECURE, then you would probably pick that as your correct answer,.even if you were a bit fuzzy on telnet (though you shouldn't be if you really are or want to work in networking/security).

Question for the folks that have utilized the Professor Messer vids AND passed a cert exam, preferably A+ --- was his training sufficient? I mean i just started looking at his vids this week and he wraps some things up in 10 minutes that others like TrainSignal take hours. Granted the others cover alot more but it seems like Messer is catering directly toward the exam. There are things that he explains in a way that is very simple to comprehend.. others will have you lost in the fog. I'm just curious of the results.

Congrats, how was the test? I am looking at taking this sometime during the Fall.

Only slightly scary part was the fact that it is 100 questions. I just drilled the info into my head, homie... reading, Professor Messer, Labsim, even a couple of Android apps I found that give you practive tests & flash-card style drilling.

Bump

Just talked to the professor for the A+/Hardware class. Told me if I get certified before class ends, I pass with an A and will not have to come back to class :dance:

I went back to school myself seeking a couple of IT certificates (not certifications) and there are several classes that will waive you with an A if you have the accompanying comptia cert. Good luck on the test if you plan on taking it.

does anyone have this book

i would appreciate the upload

thanks in advance
