►►► OFFICIAL UFC 142 ----- Aldo / Mendes - Saturday, January 14th - BRAZIL

I think if you are the best in the world in your weight class, you should not have to move up, or down. I don't want to see Aldo, Edgar, GSP or Silva move up or down. I believe that there are challenges for each of these fighters in there respective weight classes. All this "Edgar is too small too fight at 155" bs ended when he knocked out Maynard. If he gets destroyed by Henderson, and feels like he should move down, the so be it. If he gets beat, and doesn't do it, so be it. Sometimes you just get your ass kicked. Look at Florian. Look at Rumbles big ass nearly sweating himself in to a coma to slim down to 170 to fight midgets. Negro outta be ashamed of himself.

Aldo ... where does he rank P4P now?

When you look at P4P in my opinion you look at a couple of things...first the records and accomplishments of the people the guy has beat..the length of his winning streak...and the way he wins. Silva has beat former champions..one of which is in a division above him so he takes that one...his run has been long enough to be put up against GSP and Aldo's..and he has won in spectacular fashion in all but two I think..and those opponents did not come to bring the fight. GSP has one too many fights were he dominates, but doesn't finish and Aldo's opponents don't match up to those of Silva or GSP even though he beat two former champs. I say 1. A. Silva 2. GSP 3. Jones (simply because he has made is look so easy against the champ, the former champ Page, and up and coming undefeated Badar..and 4. Aldo..if he would have came back and finished Hominik the way Silva finished Sonnen he would be higher up on the list.

Ex fucking actly. Joe Rogan and the like with the "he looks great at this weight class, he is big for this class and strong and all that bullshit..plan and simple..some dudes just don't have it to be the champ. Florian can cut his leg off and go to 125, everything ain't for everybody.

True ... Florian's had a commendable career, but just didn't have enough to take out the former champs in his bouts with Penn, Sherk, and Aldo. Big ups on him moving up to 185 to compete on TUF 1 and finishing runner-up to Diego Sanchez (who has fought at 170 and 185 throughout his career) and in fighting at 185, 170, 155, 145 dating back to 2004 / 2005.

props for the pics Shaundella is sexy as hell. Its CRAZY the amount of hate (RACIAL) she gets in the MMA fan world.

Anthony Johnson needs to get his condition in order. After the first failed shoot attempt he was done. He couldn't defend himself on his feet so all he could do was lower his head and hope for a take down. That's not going to happen against the world class fighters. IF he can't make 185 he may as well move up and fight at 205. The problem is that Spider, GSP and JBJ are all in control of their divisions there is no easy path to the championship at any of those three classes. If he was disciplined like Bernard Hopkins was, who stayed at 160 even between fights, Johnson could stay at 170 and contend against Condit or Diaz while GSP is ailing.

I didn't know people didn't like Shondella. Even the fuckin third world Brazillians are racist. SMDH She's sexy, I'll cheer for her.

What's crazy about Palharas is that he has to give access to his leg in order to get that lock. You have to give some specialist a taste of their own medicine to beat them, like when Gonzaga headkicked Crocop..they don't expect it. Someone needs to train on how to rip his fucking foot off as soon as he tries that shit.

I hear you. Good luck. I'd try to stand up with that dude first then if shit got on the ground I'd go for his ankle.

is it me, or does rumble remind you of that big kid in the kiddy-pool too big to have his ass in there? Negro get your big ass outta that pool.

dan mirgliatta might as well hit rumble with a folding chair in the back the way he officiated that fight. how can you say he wasn't doing anything on the ground. look at vitor's face after the fight if you don't believe me

the whole rumble weight fiasco makes me respect dudes like fedor & frankie edgar even more because here you have a sport where these dudes purposely eat like victoria secret models to fight at lower weight classes to beat up guys smaller than them meanwhile fedor & frankie basically fight at their walking around weight and still win fights against naturally bigger guys.

True ... always commendable when guys keep it within their natural weight classes. I can respect the bigger guys who are NATURAL HEAYVWEIGHTS just dealing with it too and staying in the 235 - 265lb range ... when some of the guys who are 230 - 240 could do damage to themselves and TRY and cut down to 205, and then rehydrate back up. Guys like Randy Couture were the exception in that he was a naturally smaller build and worked well at both light heavy and heavy, as he kept his weight in the 205 - 225 range for the most part throughout his career, and even when he did fight heavyweight ... it wasn't like he was putting on excess weight just because. He was still in shape and had some cardio to him for a guy who got into the sport in his mid-30s and kept at it until his late-40s.

funk, is there any footage of the post fight presser? i haven't come across anything reliable, even on the ufc website

ESPN's Outside the Lines will air an investigation into the payment for UFC fighters on Sunday morning that already has UFC President Dana White steamed, even before he's seen the report in full.

A portion of the Outside the Lines segment is available at ESPN.com, along with an article headlined, "UFC fighters say low pay simply brutal." White wasn't pleased with that, and he wrote on Twitter on Thursday that he'll have a public response to the show after it airs. He added that his people also taped ESPN's interview with UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta, and that the UFC will show fans the complete, un-edited interview.

ESPN wasn't able to get any active UFC fighters to complain about their pay on the record, and the only former fighter quoted on the record criticizing the UFC is Ken Shamrock, who has lost legal battles with the promotion. So the report is lacking any fighters who can specifically document how they've been treated unfairly by the UFC.

Where ESPN's report appears strongest is in its presentation of how much more the top fighters make than the lowest-paid fighters: It notes that the biggest stars can make seven-figure paydays for each fight, while the lowest-paid fighters make four figures per fight. There's no question that at the bottom, UFC fighters aren't making a lot of money.

However, some of the numbers presented both on the Outside the Lines broadcast and in the accompanying ESPN.com report don't seem to add up. For instance, the report refers to the median pay of UFC fighters as between $17,000 and $23,000 a year, and yet an unnamed "Fighter X" who is quoted as saying, "I'm in the middle tier of fighters," reveals that he has made as much as $80,000 in a year. If a middle-tier fighter makes $80,000, then the claim that the median pay of UFC fighters is $17,000 to $23,000 a year is bogus.

And even though it is true that some UFC fighters make less than $10,000 a fight, those are the largely interchangeable fighters who fill up the bottom of the undercard on UFC shows. Those fighters would be comparable to NFL practice squad players, who are sometimes signed for as little as a week at a time and paid as little as $5,700 for their week on an NFL team.

The Outside the Lines piece also would have benefited from exploring what has happened to rival promotions that have paid fighters more money than the UFC pays. The most notable example is the clothing company Affliction, which made a splash as an MMA promoter by signing several high-profile fighters to contracts that paid them significantly more money than they could make in the UFC. Affliction, however, went belly-up after promoting just two events.

So while it may be true that some low-paid fighters consider the UFC's pay scale to be "brutal," the UFC's business model is also the only one that has proven to be a viable way for MMA fighters to remain employed and for an MMA promotion to remain in business.

Outside the Lines is a well-respected show that often stirs up important debates inside the sports world. We'll see with Sunday's episode what kind of debate about fighter pay begins. And what kind of response White offers.

UPDATE: After MMAFighting.com published this, ESPN.com changed its story to say that the $17,000 to $23,000 median income is per fight, rather than per year.

Kes - Yeah ... Dana White doesn't have a good relationship with them at ESPN. Sees them as haters and shit ... is on good terms with Jon Anik (from MMA LIVE) and brought him aboard the team though.
