Yup these corporations are pissing off GenZ and millennials

What is the "so much money, to no work" are these biz owners are referring to??

Familiar talking point going back to forever, but caught new steam when Covid happened and people got assistance for a period of time. Id hear it often when I'd go out to see my accounts. "I can't keep help because people would rather stay home and get paid." I'd always think to myself... "People with solid gigs that valued them never left/came back when called. The people that opted to take the bread worked for peanuts for assholes that didn't value them to start." Even now, good companies, with solid benefits aren't having a bad time with staffing. It's the bad jobs with low pay getting their asses kicked.

I got three jobs because of this.

But baby boomers aren't in the workforce right now.

There are still a lot of Boomers (1946-1964) in the workforce. I'm one of them, and I'm not 60 yet. I consider myself and those like me the last of the Baby Boomers. Before the Covid Pandemic Baby Boomers were working longer and putting off retirement. Baby Boomers gave us the eternal youth culture. Fifty is the new thirty and all that shit. Then Covid-19 happened. Rona was like no bitches, 50 is 50 and 70 is 70 and if you're fat and out of shape you're out of here. Death became real as many of them were vulnerable. There is nothing like seeing people in your tribe get sick and die to make you face your mortality. Baby Boomers are about a quarter of the workforce and those that can afford to are cashing their chips in. Sadly we're taking a lot of knowledge and skill with us. As one the last of the Boomers its a unique experience. When it comes to the American Dream for us its like being late to the cookout. The best food is gone. What was supposed to be hot is now cold and what's supposed to cold is now warm. As the last of Boomers you can remember when things were better and worse yet can detail how it all went down hill. I have pretty good Health insurance by today's standards but I had great insurance when I was young. When I saw a doctor I had no co-pay. I was in the Hospital for three days after a car accident 30 years ago and paid nothing. I didn't have to care where I went or who I saw for care. It was all covered. That was the late 80s and early 90s. The 80s were the turning point for the working class. The Regan Devolution was in full effect. CAC's were trying to turn back the clock. Corporate America was deregulated and Trade Unions were the new bogieman. A lot of working class as well as white collar workers bought into all that bullshit. They paid for it in the 90s and ever since. In some cases with their jobs in others just a general loss of real wealth. The middle class has been been slowly bled of its wealth. Jobs have little security. Corporations have paid workers next to nothing and overworked them. The attitude being just be glad you have a job. When Corporations wanted to raise their stock price they just laid off workers. Why build a better product when you can just lay people off. Wall street has grown fat dumb and happy off the American Middle Class and has not paid its fair share into society. Sooner or later a reckoning is coming.

im watching this first hand here in detroit..lets go back about 15 years when the government allowed the big three to get rid of there
retirement fund to focus on corporate gains and that quote on quote corp-growth..now by then the big three has done already done
sold off most of the company,,ford sold off visteon,,and GM done sold off delphi and chysler was already bought by the germans,,and
also production wages had dropped for all three but not for the skill trade that was dominated by white men, whice are the best job to
have in them plants..now let fast forward 15 yrs..the big three had cut so much of the company and work force and with the help of
the UAW giving them crazy kick backs and corruption that plague's the UAW till this very day and NAFTA,,now the workers dont even have a decent
contract any more..the starting pay is low the hours are long and not including one person have to do several jobs at once on that line..
and now they cant keep workers and them nice kushy skill trades jobs that are still dominated by white men done got old on tha job and
are refusing to give them up cause they cant afford to and even if they did they wont have much of a retirement cause so many of them
are living so far out there means they rarely put and money into there 401k's so now the white middle class is working rite up to tha day
they die..it us to be a point it was very hard getting an auto job now i see these summ bitches putting out ad's err week looking for workers..
corporate greed killed this county and the work force...

White folks scoffed at Mexicans working the farms. Now them same white folks mad as fuck. Why, because now immigrants are coming for blue collar jobs and they will take low wages. ie, Carpentars, plummers, HVAC techs, brick masonry. These were jobs dominated by majority white men.
Some real shit you typed right there bruh.

Ask those same cacs if they voluntarily paid back their PPP loans or if they applied for forgiveness. I have a little side hustle that got $$$ so I saw how easy the process was first hand compared to that for those who really needed help but weren't "business owners". For me, the most shameful part of all of that is that churches received money from a fucking tax payer funded program...:smh: As I try to explain to my colleagues in other countries, this is the wealthiest, most functional banana republic on the planet.

It was operating the way it was designed, but Covid disrupted the system mechanism now people really see what’s going on.

True if we relegate it to the USA,.but when speaking of the economic system you have to think of it on a global scale. Whether USA citizens are awakening to the fact that there are inherent problems with the system that does not mean that they are cognizant or have solidarity with other workers across the world..

That's the point: working from birth until death.

Great post
Reagan and his ilk really did a number on this country...they been trying to roll back every single thing that was pushed through under FDR...now Reagan would be considered a fucking moderate in today's GOP...and the Dems have shifted right and regularly give concessions before they even begin to negotiate and have largely silenced the true left wing of their party (unless its gay rights)...wild times ahead

30% of GM, Ford & Stellantis workforce are paid under $19.08.

I suspect they will be buyouts in Sept cause it's contract time.

GM net profit each yr is over 10 billion.

Feds gave GM interest-free loans, upfront money & tax breaks for new plants/new hires moving forward.

Another 20% will be retiring in the next few yrs
sho nuff...while skill trade hourly jumped to $40 the turn over is so high most workers that been there less then 3 years still wont see shit
over $20..hell back in tha late 80's-90's production workers that was still making them box bro'hams at fisher body was all making $25.....
my son closet's cuzz started at lake orion for GM lil heffer at last 5 months she turned her nose up at that job,,she told me they aint paying
her enough to do all that bullshit making only $17.... :smh:

reaganomics....the GOP's policy's foundation...

To quote SWP, Gen Z cannot easily attain financial success the way Boomers did.

Boomers were able to graduate highs school and get livable wage jobs. Meaning, a high school graduate could get a decent jobs, good benefits, pension, buy a starter home, get married and take care of a house while his wife was a stay at home mother caring for their two kids.

Fast forwards, Gen Z don't got it like that and to make matters worse, Gen Z is competing with the global economy, i.e, H1B1 Visa folks and immigrants.

Why would a Gen Z, want to work super hard busting their chops to make the 1% richer all while technically being classified as the "working poor".

Working poor in a sense that fresh out of high school, it's almost impossible to buy a decent home in a nice area and live comfortably on the strength of just a diploma from your neighborhood high school.
THIS is INCREDIBLY well said...DAMN...I'm interested in more of what you have to say brother keep going

Click on SWP link in my post, that's where I get some good points.

He's got a ton of good fact based info.

What is the "so much money, to no work" are these biz owners are referring to??

Bernie Marcus is mad that businesses can't get away with only paying minimum wage anymore, and thinks that the reason why is socialism. He was one of the main people complaining that unemployment benefits were too high, too many young people don't focus on the company's bottom line and it's shareholders and benefits are too excessive.

Keep in mind, the book he wrote a few months ago was because he wanted to apologize and explain to his children and grandchildren why he didn't spend a lot of time with them. That's not a theory, he freely admits that. Dude's 93 and still can't see that there's more to life than chasing money.
