I don't see anything wrong with paying a membership although I don't know about restricting it to yearly. When people put their money out they like having options. That being said I think at this point paypal or a paypal like payment option is also necessary.

But the DB outages that occur from time to time should be nearly non-existent.

And again the tranny posts should be zero to none.

Shit, I read about Joomla here just before the 2007 holidays, got some files of that Mr Jody thread and found the rest in torrents.
I just made 3 bricks for my first site I made for a client using Joomla so I cannot complain.
And this is just a small example, I have been around BGOL since 98.
I have no problems with the 10$ a year thing.

Now if that kills BGOL, then it will live in our memories!

1. No Ads (whatsoever)
2. No FTPs (whatsoever)
3. No Blunt / or blunt bait (or any aliases, whether any of them had matching IP addresses or NOT. People use proxies nowadays, ya know?)
4. Figure out a small *revenue sharing* plan for different types of *content contributors*, ya know?
(i.e. software vs. advice vs. pron vs. comedy vs. music vs. news, etc., etc. or some shit)

Only then...would it even enter the REALM of possibility.
