Arena On Xbox Live Launches For Killer Instinct

We are pleased to introduce Arena on Xbox Live to the broader community for Killer Instinct! Also arriving with this month’s update are overlays for Party Chat, Wi-Fi Captive Portal, and Looking for Group improvements; and be on the lookout for an app from Dolby Atmos in the coming weeks! These features were all previously available for Xbox Insiders for testing and feedback, and are now ready for the broader community. Keep the feedback coming!

Here’s more about the new features beginning to roll out today:

Arena on Xbox Live Tournaments for Killer Instinct

Launching today on your Xbox One, you’ll find a new tab labeled ‘Tournaments’ in the Game Hub. Within this tab, you’ll be able to see upcoming tournaments you can register for directly on your Xbox One dashboard for Killer Instinct.

When it’s time to check in for your tournament, you’ll receive a notification directly on your console, or through the Xbox app on your Windows 10, iOS or Android device. You can then easily join your tournament, launching directly into your game from your Xbox One or Xbox app on Windows 10 PCs – and be ready to fight for glory, honor, and prizes.

Gamer-Created Tournaments come to Arena on Xbox Live

Also launching to your Xbox One, are the first ever gamer-created tournaments through Arena for Killer Instinct. You will be able to create tournaments for your Xbox Live Club in the Xbox app on Windows 10 PCs. Simply go to a Club page for a Club in which you are an owner or admin (or create a Club just for your tournaments!) and navigate to the ‘Tournaments’ tab. There you’ll see an option to create a tournament – set the date and time, tweak settings, and enter a description – and a few clicks later you have your very own tournament scheduled! Be sure to advertise your tournament to your Club’s Activity Feed to recruit players and hope you can stay friends even after you take first place.

Looking for Group Posting Notification

We’ve made posting in Looking for Group (LFG) to game with others even easier. With LFG notifications, you can be notified when anyone you follow creates an LFG post. Since the feature was first released last fall, gamers have created over 15 million posts! Want to let more people know about an LFG post? Now you also can share it to an Activity Feed or in a message.

Clubs on Xbox Live and Beam Integration

Clubs on Xbox Live now helps streamers and their followers find each other. The new ’Beam’ tab added to Clubs shows all Beam broadcasts from Club members, and new controls let Club owners filter broadcasts based on games and stream maturity rating.

Party Overlay Updates

It is now more simple to stay connected with your Party, which is why you now have the option to overlay the speaking Party members’ names – even when the Guide isn’t showing. Controls let you change the overlay’s position and transparency.

Dolby Atmos App

Following its April debut for Windows 10 PCs, the Dolby Access app will be available soon on your Xbox One and Xbox One S. This app enables Dolby Atmos audio, creating sound that flows around you, even overhead, through Dolby Atmos enabled AVRs and sound bars. With an additional store purchase, Dolby Atmos for Headphone enables this same immersive experience on almost any set of headphones.

The experience delivers breakthrough audio that takes you deeper inside your favorite games, movies, and TV shows. For gamers, a robust slate of native Dolby Atmos titles are coming to Xbox One later this year. Additionally, the upmixing capabilities of Dolby Atmos will create a more immersive audio experience for your existing multichannel games.

Thanks to your invaluable feedback, we continue to make improvements and updates. There will be more updates over the coming months; we plan to build and expand Arena on Xbox Live in both the Arena experience and participating titles. Please keep your feedback coming and stay tuned for more.

People say its about to expire every year, only EA and the NFL knows. I just cant see EA giving up that license. NBA live is dead, Titanfall & Mass Effect took a major L . I could see EA paying double to keep the license away from 2K. Madden and Fiffa doing big numbers for them.

As for Mass Effect, hopefully no one at Bioware's Montreal studio end up losing their jobs over what happened with Andromeda

Bungie says Destiny 2 can't run at 60 FPS on PlayStation 4 Pro

Update: Contrary to popular belief, Project Scorpio won't be held back by Xbox One. It'll only be held back by PlayStation 4 Pro if Bungie is forced to maintain parity.

Mike Ybarra further went on to clarify this. Microsoft won't limit a game to 30 FPS on Project Scorpio just because it's 30 FPS on Xbox One. A developer has the option of making a Project Scorpio title 60 FPS if they want.

Original: Bungie’s upcoming Destiny 2 has been on the minds of many gamers, especially when it comes to the game’s target frame rate. While 30 FPS will be acceptable for many, with the majority of shooters such as Doom, Titanfall 2, Halo 5 and more pushing 60 FPS as a priority—and looking damn good while they do it—it’s a bit puzzling that Bungie would stick to the 30 FPS option. Well, we finally may have an answer why.

In an interview with IGN, Project Lead Mark Noseworthy stated that, "The PlayStation 4 Pro is super powerful, but it couldn’t run our game at 60 FPS. Our game has rich physics simulation...networking...It wouldn’t run. There’s not enough horsepower there.” That by definition makes it weak, no matter how much you sugar coat it.

"We have more AI to shoot, more monsters in an environment with physically-simulated vehicles and characters and projectiles," added other Project Lead Luke Smith. "It will not run at 60 FPS on the PlayStation 4 Pro. I don’t want people to continue to hope."

Because of the fact that it runs at 30 FPS on PlayStation 4 Pro, there's no way it's going to be 60 FPS on Project Scorpio. If Bungie managed to get the game running at 60 FPS on PlayStation 4 Pro, it would've led to the Project Scorpio version also being 60 FPS. They were definitely willing to do that because they tested 60 FPS on PlayStation 4 Pro and failed, that's clear from the interview! They were willing to allow 30 FPS gamers play with 60 FPS gamers.

Correct. No chance Scorpio gets 60fps. Bungie/Activision will want console parity, especially in light of their marketing deal with Sony. https://t.co/3PA7MrSw00

— Ryan McCaffrey (@DMC_Ryan) May 19, 2017

We'll never know if Project Scorpio can run Destiny 2 at 60 FPS because Sony will want parity in terms of the frame rate when it comes to a marketing deal they paid millions for. This is probably the first example of a paid parity deal. Is this really what the gaming industry has come to? Maybe Microsoft will surprise us at E3 2017 but I have my doubts. So, console gamers, enjoy 30 FPS gameplay even on a machine which has an advanced, highly-modified CPU because Sony's PlayStation 4 Pro can't handle it. It doesn't matter if Bungie was willing to let 30 FPS gamers play with 60 FPS gamers, Sony won't allow it.

Recently, Microsoft released an update for Gears of War 4 so that even Xbox One players can play with PC gamers who can run the game at higher settings. They also allowed competitive play. It's clear that Microsoft is willing to let 30 FPS gamers play with 60 FPS gamers (some Gears of War 4 multiplayer modes run at 30 FPS on Xbox One), as long as 30 FPS gamers are given the option of opting out of playing with gamers who may have advanced setups. Gears of War 4 contains a toggle which lets Xbox One owners opt out of matchmaking with PC gamers. The same approach could easily apply to Destiny 2 and Project Scorpio. Bungie could let Xbox One owners choose if they want to be matched with PC or Project Scorpio players for competitive play. Some people are comfortable with this, others aren't. Gears of War 4 has the right solution here.

NBA Playgrounds "Buy, Wait for Sale, Rent, Never Touch?"

It's not that easy to steal or push people.

And EVERYBODY got handles, everybody can shoot 3s. I played a game against Allen Iverson and Shaq....

Shaq hit like 6 perfect shot 3 pointers...i almost broke my damn controller.

Like on NBA street and nba jam, if you tried to shoot a 3 with low stats you was missing 9 outta 10... and dribbling, you'd fall down every time trying to cross somebody up. This game just said FUCK IT EVERYBODY IS KYRIE IRVING
