Xbox One Console Reviews

that voodvid has been working like a charm for me. It's still super clunky and very beta feeling, but the content is there, which is where its power is.

i am really starting to get excited for injustice 2. i think its time for me to pre-order the ultimate edition. i love me some fighting games. may is gonna be a busy month for me if injustice, sonic mania, tekken 7 and marvel vs capcom infinite comes out within a month of each other.

This Week On Xbox: February 17, 2017 (Special Episode + A Message From Phil Spencer)

Here we go…a special episode of This Week On Xbox plus a message from Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox, about the games lineup coming to Xbox in 2017.

Remember, you can watch the interactive version of This Week on Xbox from the Community section of the New Xbox One Experience dashboard in Canada, the UK and the US or at the Xbox YouTube channel (This Week on Xbox Playlist).

Today is a big day for Team Xbox as we celebrate the worldwide launch of early access for Halo Wars 2. Since the launch of the original Halo Wars on Xbox 360 eight years ago, the passionate Halo community has been urging us to publish a sequel. I am incredibly proud of the action-packed experience the talented teams at 343 Industries and Creative Assembly have created on the biggest Halo battlefield ever.

From the in-depth, story-driven single-player campaign to the innovative and accessible Blitz mode, to the more traditional Deathmatch, Halo Wars 2 is designed for players of all skill levels to have fun. And, with Xbox Play Anywhere, players get both the Xbox One and Windows 10 PC versions of Halo Wars 2 with a single digital purchase, including shared progress and achievements across both platforms. I have been playing Halo Wars 2 behind the scenes for a few months now and the game feels like a return to what made the first Halo Wars great with a new take on RTS that will attract even more gamers to the genre.

2017 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting years ever for Xbox gamers. We are preparing to launch the most powerful console ever made this holiday – Project Scorpio – along with a diverse lineup of games. In fact, we are committed to delivering even more exclusive games for both Xbox One and Windows 10 this year than we launched in 2016. I was very proud of our first-party lineup in 2016 and I am encouraged by an even bigger and more differentiated first-party lineup in 2017, starting with today’s launch of Halo Wars 2.

Our studio partners at Rare, Undead Labs and Sumo Digital/Reagent Games are working hard to develop exclusive Xbox One and Windows 10 games this year, from new IP like Sea of Thieves to all-new chapters of fan-favorite franchises like State of Decay 2 and Crackdown 3. Sea of Thieves is currently in technical alpha and is taking a community-oriented approach that lets players participate in the development process, and both State of Decay 2 and Crackdown 3 are looking and playing great. And of course, we’ll have more in store for you at E3 2017 in June.

I’m also excited about the return of two original Xbox classics coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 this spring – Phantom Dust and Voodoo Vince. Fans of the original Xbox game Phantom Dust can look forward to the re-release of the original classic with Xbox Play Anywhere support and cross-play, as well as improvements to game balance and frame rate. And Voodoo Vince: Remastered is coming to Xbox One, Windows 10 and Steam through the ID@Xbox program. This new edition features high-fidelity visuals and Xbox Play Anywhere support, along with the classic gameplay and brilliant soundtrack fans know and love.

There’s a lot to look forward to this year from independent developers as well. Between Cuphead – one of my personal favorites and an Xbox One console exclusive also coming to Windows 10 – and Below, Thimbleweed Park, Tacoma, Ark: Survival Evolved, We Happy Few and more, 2017 is shaping up to be an incredible year for the ID@Xbox program.

We are focused on building the largest games library in Xbox console history, which means our Xbox One Backward Compatibility lineup will continue growing this year. We’ve delivered top fan favorites like Grand Theft Auto IV, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and the BioShock and Mass Effect trilogies to our catalog in recent months, and we’ll continue adding more games throughout the year.

In addition to all the amazing exclusives, ID@Xbox and backward compatible games coming this year, I’m thrilled with the great games our third-party development partners are creating, including upcoming titles For Honor, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands, TEKKEN 7, Mass Effect Andromeda, South Park: The Fractured but Whole, Prey and Injustice 2.

With such a broad and varied roster of games and first party exclusives on the horizon, continuous improvements across Xbox Live, and the upcoming launch of Project Scorpio, 2017 is going to be an incredible year for Xbox One and Windows 10 gamers. On behalf of everyone at Team Xbox, thank you for your continued passion and support.

OH SHIT!!!!!!! -------------- I'm fucking ready...

Shadow of Mordor sequel Shadow of War leaked

By Tom Sykes an hour ago

Will release on August 22.

A sequel to Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor has been leaked by US retail chain Target, via an online booboo that, at the time of writing, hasn't yet been fixed. Titled Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, the sequel will see Talion and his ghost buddy Celebrimbor teaming up once again to have another crack at Mordor. According to the Target description, you'll "go behind enemy lines to forge your army, conquer Fortresses and dominate Mordor from within". And in case there was any doubt, the Nemesis system will return, creating "unique personal stories with every enemy and follower".

I particularly like the bit about confronting the "full power" of Sauron and the Ringwraiths in this game, suggesting encounters with the Big Eye himself and his ethereal chums, rather than just a procession of increasingly powerful orcs and uruk-hai.

In addition to the base game, a 'gold' edition of Shadow of War has also leaked, containing two story expansions that will a new campaign, playable character, abilities, side missions and more. There will also be two 'nemesis' expansions include as part of the gold edition, which will whack in a new orc tribe, fortress, and other bits and bobs. On PS4 and Xbox One, the standard edition will set you back $60, while the gold one will retail for $100.

There's no mention of a PC version in the leak, but seeing as the original game released on PC as well as consoles, it seems a safe bet. According to Target, Shadow of War will release on August 22. It's once again being developed by Monolith, and being published by Warner Bros, a representative of whom is no doubt typing one furious email right about now.

Have a read of our Shadow of Mordor review if you're inspired to play the original game, or our lament to the fact that its inspired Nemesis system, to date, remains un-stolen.

Thanks, Wario64.

We've known for some time that a sequel to Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor was likely in the works, and today new details regarding the follow-up were leaked.

Revealed in a listing on Target's international website (as discovered by NeoGAF member DeathByBacklog), the new game is called Middle-earth: Shadow of War. The page features box art for it and a brief description.

"Go behind enemy lines to forge your army, conquer Fortresses, and dominate Mordor from within," it reads. "Experience how the award-winning Nemesis System creates unique personal stories with every enemy and follower, and confront the full power of the Dark Lord Sauron and his Ringwraiths in this epic new story of Middle-earth."

PS4 and Xbox One versions are both listed. The original Shadow of Mordor was also available on PC, though the absence of a PC version on Target's website doesn't preclude it from also being in development.

A release date is stated as August 22. That might prove to be true, but early release dates on retailers' websites don't always pan out.

In addition to the standard version of the game, a Gold Edition will also apparently be available. Here's what that includes, based on the description:

  • Slaughter Tribe Nemesis Expansion
  • Outlaw Tribe Nemesis Expansion
  • The Blade of Galadriel Story Expansion
  • The Desolation of Mordor Story Expansion
  • Gold War Chest
  • Over $125 in total value
The two Nemesis expansions feature "a new Orc Tribe featuring new enemies, followers, missions, abilities, weapons, Fortress, and wilderness updates, and a Mythic Gear Set." The story expansions, meanwhile, have "a new campaign, playable character, and abilities, side missions, enemies, allies, and more."

The Gold Edition page also reveals slightly more about the game itself, teasing the ability to "[f]orge a new Ring of Power, conquer Fortresses in massive battles, and dominate Mordor with your personal Orc army."

We'll have more on Shadow of War as it's announced.

Mass Effect: Andromeda | Spoiler-Free Hands-On Impressions Vlog

This makes me nervous..... I'm liking the combat, but it almost seems like your character will be to powerful. Be able to jump jet, slide, and use fire and ice from a Omnitool and not from the powers wheel... seems like overkill unless this game has destructible cover.

I check every day and so far... it's still being worked on. My money is that it's going to likely drop in April or May.
