Rumor: Wolfenstein: The New Order 2, The Evil Within 2, and Prey 2 to be announced at E3 2016

Rumor-Wolfenstein-2_06-07-16.jpg

Sequels to Wolfenstein: The New Order, The Evil Within, and Prey will be announced by Bethesda Softworks during their E3 2016 press conference, according to Eurogamer.

The website said that in addition to these announcements, it also understands the rumored The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim remaster to be true.

First news of a Wolfenstein sequel came in September 2015, where a voice actress for the first game said during a TV interview, “Now we’re making a second one, which will take two more years.”

Prey 2—or rather, a reboot different from the Prey 2 we once knew, developed by Arkane Austin—was previously rumored for an E3 announcement by Kotaku.

As for The Evil Within 2, this is the first we’re hearing of a sequel, but developer Tango Gameworks has been quiet since it finished its downloadable content releases for the first game in mid-2015.

Bethesda Softworks will host its E3 2016 press conference this Sunday, June 12 at 7:00 p.m. PDT / 10:00 p.m. EDT. Get the full E3 2016 schedule here.

‘Skyrim Remaster’ rumored to include DLC and mod support for PS4 and Xbox One

Fans of the Elder Scrolls series may in for a treat as a recent rumor suggests that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will find its way to the PS4 and Xbox One in the form of a remaster. According to a report by WCCF Tech from June 6, Bethesda plans to announce the Skyrim Remaster during the company’s E3 press conference, which will be held on Sunday, June 12. The release of Skyrim for PS4 and Xbox One may be enough to excite most, but Bethesda looks to be adding additional content to make this release the definitive version of Skyrim.

While official details on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Remaster will come in several days, additional information surfaced today on NeoGAF via an insider that suggests the game will receive improved visuals and all the downloadable content which includes, Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn. Improved visuals and all the DLC certainly makes for a definitive edition, but that’s not where things end. Rumors also suggest that the game will have mod support on home consoles. Bethesda allowed mods on the console version of Fallout 4, so the inclusion of mods in a Skyrim Remaster is a welcome bonus.

With the announcement of Skyrim set for E3, many will be left to wonder when The Elder Scrolls VI will happen. If Bethesda follows a similar path as they did with Dishonored, which saw a Definitive Edition release in 2015, while its sequel - Dishonored 2 – is set for later this year, we could hear of The Elder Scrolls VI at E3 2017.

Fans of the Elder Scrolls have something to look forward to on June 12 as we should get our first look at Skyrim for PS4 and Xbox One.

Microsoft isn't adding a TV DVR feature to the Xbox One anymore

Microsoft is no longer planning to add a TV DVR feature to its Xbox One console. The software giant originally unveiled plans to add TV DVR to the Xbox One back in August, noting that the feature would arrive some time in 2016. "After careful consideration, we've decided to put development of DVR for Over-the-Air TV on hold to focus our attention on launching new, higher fan-requested gaming experiences across Xbox One and Windows 10," revealed a Microsoft spokesperson in a statement to The Verge. "We're always listening to fan feedback and we look forward to bringing more requested experiences on Xbox One, Windows 10 and Xbox Live this year."

Microsoft had originally planned to let Xbox One users schedule recordings on the go, and stream or download shows to mobile devices and other Windows 10 PCs. The DVR feature would have only been limited to free-to-air TV, and Microsoft had released digital TV tuners in Europe and the US that would have supported it. After Microsoft killed off Windows Media Center in Windows 10, the company still doesn't have a viable alternative.

It's clear that Microsoft's priorities are firmly back on gaming with its Xbox One console, and we're expecting to hear about new hardware and games at E3 next week.

Bungie might be getting those wolf tickets ready to sell..

Details Leak For Destiny's Rise of Iron DLC

ub83ezp9pxp44ybnvfjy.jpg

More info on Destiny’s Rise of Iron DLC has come out ahead of Bungie’s planned announcement tomorrow, and I’m not gonna lie, it sounds incredible.

Thanks to the Xbox Store, which is responsible for inadvertently leaking just about everything (h/t Reddit), here’s a description of Rise of Iron, which will be out on September 20.

Destiny: Rise of Iron is the next highly anticipated expansion to the Destiny universe. The wall which stood for centuries along the southern border of Old Russia has collapsed. Fallen mutants now scavenge the tombs of the Golden Age, and the plague they have unearthed in the wastes is more dangerous than even they understand. Join Lord Saladin. Journey into the Plaguelands. Learn the fate of the Iron Lords and stop the growing threat before it is too late.

Includes: • New Story Campaign & Quests • New Armor and Gear • New Weapons • New Raid • Maximum Light Increase • New Strike • New Plaguelands Zone & Social Space • New Crucible Mode & Maps • New Enemy Faction and Bosses

I reported last month that the new raid would be themed around the Fallen, with a twist. Apparently the twist is that they’re goddamned mutants. We should see Rise of Iron in action tomorrow during Bungie’s stream.

Destiny is going to be a hard sell.

Especially now that this new expansion is officially current-gen only

Bungie Details How Destiny: Rise of Iron Will Split Current, Last Generation Players
Share.
The Xbox 360 and PS3 will now be treated as "legacy consoles."
By Jonathon Dornbush With the announcement of Destiny's upcoming expansion, Rise of Iron, Bungie revealed the new content would only be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players. In a new post on Bungie's official website, the studio details what that means for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 players.

The PS3 and 360 will now be treated as "legacy consoles," meaning that any Destiny players wanting to play new content going forward will have to upgrade to the next generation of consoles. Bungie will split the worlds of each generation beginning in August.

PS3 and 360 players that do not make the change to the current-generation of consoles will still be able to play the version of Destiny as it stands now, but no new content is planned for Destiny on last-generation consoles. Characters will progress separately on previous-generation hardware as opposed to being shared between generations. Those who do upgrade following this split will be able to port their Guardians to the new generation, so long as they remain in the same console family.

Gawker filing for bankruptcy - Report

Kotaku owner chooses Chapter 11 over paying lawsuit judgment, could be sold to IGN parent Ziff-Davis

A dispute over a pro wrestler's sex tape could soon upend the gaming media landscape. Recode is reporting that Gawker Media, parent company of gaming blog Kotaku, is filing for bankruptcy protection today rather than pay out a $140 million judgment in an invasion-of-privacy lawsuit brought against it by Hulk Hogan after one of the company's blogs posted clips of the recording without consent.

According to the report, Gawker still intends to fight the judgment, but informed its workers that it is accepting offers to buy the company. It has already received an offer from Ziff Davis for less than $100 million, but anticipates that it will receive others as it progresses through the bankruptcy process. (Before the Hulk Hogan trial began, Gawker owner Nick Denton estimated the company to be worth between $250 million and $300 million.) Regardless of the offers, Gawker is not expected to sell until after its debt is restructured or the company successfully fends off the Hogan judgment.

In a memo sent to Ziff Davis employees, CEO Vivek Shah indicated that the company would add Kotaku--as well as its employees--to its consumer tech and gaming properties. Beyond Kotaku, Gawker Media owns a variety of blogs, including Deadspin, Gizmodo, Jezebel, and Jalopnik, all of which would also be kept running in the event of a Ziff Davis acquisition. To date, Ziff Davis has been focused on tech, gaming, and men's lifestyle offerings, including IGN, Geek, Askmen, and PC Magazine.

While any such acquisition is still far from certain, the idea of IGN and Kotaku as sibling brands under parent company Ziff Davis would have been nearly unthinkable just seven years ago. Ziff Davis entered a bankruptcy of its own in 2008, leading to it shutting down its long-running magazine Electronic Gaming Monthly and selling the popular web counterpart 1UP Network early the next year. Its fortunes turned in 2012 when it was acquired by j2 Global for $167 million. Months later it purchased IGN off News Corp. for less than $100 million. News Corp. had paid $650 million for the site in 2005.

Over the past few weeks, leaks in the gaming industry have been extremely frequent and with E3 right around the corner it seems more and more surprises are leaking out into the open.

A new version of the Xbox One that increases the internal hard drive to 2 terabytes of storage may have been leaked by a GameStop employee to games website, Gamespot. The new model holds a placeholder release date of December 31st and is priced at $449.99, the same price that the Xbox One Elite console launched at.

With what is planned to be a “special” E3 this year, it is very likely that Microsoft could announce an Xbox One with a bigger hard drive as well as the rumoured slim model and even the rumoured Scorpio. With so many rumoured iterations of the Xbox One reportedly coming, Microsoft could have one of the most interesting conferences this year.
