Xbox One Console Reviews

If you are doing the Target deal, make sure you select in store pick up. Now UPS is delaying my package. :smh: Service disruption in Kentucky.

That's for Tomb Raider and Black ops.

Target delayed Fallout again. New estimated delivery date 11/20/2015 - 11/24/2015 :suicide::smh:

Your New Xbox One Experience begins today and I recently had the opportunity to chat with Mike Ybarra, Director of Program Management, Xbox about this complete transformation coming to Xbox One.

The update for the New Xbox One Experience is available starting today. Monthly releases inspired by your feedback have been a cornerstone of the Xbox One experience. We launched the Xbox Feedback site to enable you to influence how Xbox One evolves and we’ve been listening. Over the past two years, we have delivered more than a hundred new features based on your input. On behalf of the entire Xbox team, I want to express our appreciation for all of your valuable feedback.
The New Xbox One Experience is a complete transformation of Xbox One, integrating the speed and versatility of Windows 10. We put fans at the center of everything we do and wanted to make some big changes, including enabling one of your most requested features – the ability to play Xbox 360 games on Xbox One. We also wanted to meaningfully improve how gamers interact with Xbox One and redesigned it to make it the fastest and most social Xbox experience ever.

Here are some of the new experiences that you will enjoy on your Xbox One with this update:

Xbox One Backward Compatibility. You’ll be able to play over a hundred Xbox 360 games on Xbox One starting today, with hundreds more to come. Xbox 360 game play on your Xbox One includes the added benefits of Xbox One features such as screenshots, in-home streaming, and Game DVR. You can even enjoy multiplayer with friends playing Backward Compatible titles on Xbox 360. To start playing your Xbox 360 games on Xbox One after 12pm PST today, refresh your Game Collection to see your pre-purchased, digital Xbox 360 titles from the Backward Compatible title list in your ready to install queue or simply insert the disc for a supported Xbox 360 title and download the game to start playing it on Xbox One. In addition, for a limited time, all Xbox One owners can play backward compatible games on Xbox One with the multiplayer benefits normally available only with an Xbox Live Gold subscription. Take a look at the list of backward compatible games available now, and get started playing today.

A new Xbox One Home makes it faster and easier to get to the things you love. We redesigned Home to provide fast access to the games and apps that you’ve recently used. The new Home also enables you to get to social activities quicker:

  • Share your achievements and game clips with the Xbox Live community.
  • See whether your friends are playing the same games.
  • Access Game Hubs to get breaking news and updates from game developers and the Xbox Live community.
A new guide lets you rapidly access top tasks with just one button press. You can bring up the guide from Home by tapping left with the D-pad or left thumbstick. Or, while playing a game, you can double tap the Xbox button on your controller to instantly overlay the guide – without interrupting your gameplay. You can access your Profile, Friends, and Settings; quickly start a Party; view your Messages and Notifications; and Snap an application all from the new guide, saving you valuable time weaving in and out of apps.

A new Community section makes Xbox One more social. This section is designed to help you keep up with what other gamers are doing on Xbox Live as well as jump directly into the conversation yourself. Check out what your friends are up to and keep track of the games you follow in the redesigned Activity Feed. The new Trending section lets you view the most popular posts from other players on Xbox Live.

The revamped OneGuide is your single destination for TV, movies and video. Find the most exciting new movies, TV shows and videos from across apps on Xbox One. App channels help you discover what’s new in your favorite apps, making it easier to find entertainment content. TV listings are viewable instantly in OneGuide – including listings from over-the-air channels and, coming soon, Sling TV. Picture-in-picture allows you to keep browsing for other things to watch without missing what’s happening on live TV.

A new Store makes it easier to find the content you want. The new and improved Store includes four easy to explore areas – Games, Movies & TV, Apps, and Music – plus a new vertical gallery view to reveal more listings at a glance. You can browse through intuitive categories like Staff Picks, New Releases, Top played, Top rated, Coming Soon and Recommendations to uncover new games, apps, and entertainment for your Xbox One.

Got my update here in England. Not to bad so far.

I kinda missed it after I "downgraded" back to the original dashboard...but the bugs @ the time were unbearable...the shit works/moves smoothly now tho...a nice little bonus is I dl'ed assassin's creed II years ago when I had a 360...it was free @ the time if you had gold...never had time to play it tho cuz I was always on the PS3...and sure as shit that muthafucka is showing up in my list of games

i beat that tomb raider already.i was on that game all day on the 10th an beat it about 11:45pm on the 11th.i love that game.it has lots of reply value.i started the fallout 4 an so far i really dont like that shit.money wasted for real.the game slows down so much an glitches at times.for this to be the most talked about game the could have done much better with the graphics, story, damn the whole game.its no emotion at all in the game.the 3rd person part is whack!!aim is off ,just a waste of $65.im playing the star wars battle front an im alittle upset about this as well.the graphics got dumbed down on this game too.it still looks alright its just the beta looked better for some reaon.hell its still fun to play as for fallout 4 isnt.thats just what i think.theres alot of people that love it but i am a gamer i will give any game a try.

A lot of people are saying Tomb Raider is a GOTY contender.

I just ordered 3 more games from Target using that discount code.

Might take them to Best Buy for store credit, then get the same games at a slightly cheaper rate using my BB Gamers Club discount.

Hopefully BB don't give a hassle trying to return these without a receipt.

I have to play Tomb Raider before i complain about "the gameawards" GOTY list. Dudes on the twitter and the forums are saying T.R deserve to be on that list. :dunno: I'll know on the 16th. I only played three games on that list. And i say The Witcher 3 is The GOTY. :D

I ended up getting 6 games from Target for an average of $32.6.

I might do this a few more times and grab a bunch of games that will be $59.99 so I can take them to stores with no receipt.

thanks...just went ahead and preordered w/ them as a backup...watch that shit ship before my gamestop order...found a thread on reddit...claims someone @ gamestop told them they have absolutely no controllers in any of their warehouses...yet they took a shitload of preorders on the controller/charger bundle and guaranteed delivery dates on em :smh::smh::smh: niggas never emailed me back neither about the one I was able to find in stock and tried to reserve

*edit*

as I type this gamestop is showing that they have it back in stock online...but I'd take that w/ a grain of salt...they claim to have controllers in stock...but I have yet to receive shipping confirmation for my order placed 2 weeks ago

*edit*

cancelled the best buy preorder and I just ordered the controller from gamestop...supposedly I should get shipping confirmation soon :dunno: and then I guess I can cancel the original preorder that they just completely shitted on and disregarded lol...this better be the best damn controller I've ever held

*edit*

ya the new batch gamestop got is official...they just took payment on my 1st order w/ the charger so I cancelled the new order smdh...but they def have the controllers in stock

These are my system sellers. I haven't played the Uncharted series, but I do know it's supposed to be amazing. I've been waiting for Last Guardian since my 3rd completion of SOTC. Zero Dawn looks like it has an interesting story and concept with the robots and the "apparently " primitive humans.

Damn am I missing out because I went with FALLOUT4? Im not the type that can play multiple games at once. I gotta finish one and start one after. fucking with Fallout I prolly wont see Tomb Raider til January

As part of the New Xbox One Experience, we have added button remapping capability for standard Xbox One controllers through the Xbox Accessories App. This highly-requested feature offers a great alternative to remapping buttons on an individual game basis. Now each user on the console can have their own custom button mapping.

elite_controller_table_ver5-rgb.png

For those who want the ultimate degree of personalization, the Xbox Elite Wireless controller is the best choice for complete control. Here’s how the remapping capabilities compare across the Elite and standard controllers:
Standard controller remapping can be accessed in three ways through the New Xbox One Experience:

  1. Settings / Kinect & Devices / Devices & Accessories
  2. Settings / Ease of access / Button mapping
  3. Launch the Xbox Accessories app directly
For standard controllers, you can now swap button pairs. For example, if you choose to map LB to X, then X is automatically mapped to LB. This maintains that all buttons are always mapped on a standard controller. You can do multiple button swaps in sequence to move button commands to where you want them to be on the controller. When buttons are remapped on a standard controller, the remapping is not transferrable to other consoles. In other words, if you move to another console, you’ll need to go through the remapping process again with that new console. Remapping is available for both first party wireless and third party wired controllers. Remapping for standard controllers is available for Xbox One consoles only, with PC support to be confirmed at a later time.

For the Elite controller, the only required buttons that need to be mapped somewhere on the controller are A and B. Another unique remapping feature for the Elite Controller is that you can have multiple buttons mapped to the same function (e.g. multiple physical buttons or paddles can be mapped to X). Remapped settings are stored directly on Elite controller, so you can bring your custom settings to another console or PC.

On consoles, the Xbox Accessories app notifies users if their controller has an optional or mandatory firmware update. On the PC, the recently updated Xbox Accessories app can now be used to update the firmware on your standard controller, Elite controller, or Chatpad.

For more information about the New Xbox One Experience button remapping feature, check out the following posts at Xbox.com:

Star Wars: Battlefront Reviews

CCC2-noscale.jpg

Polygon - 8

Battlefront trades complexity for accessibility

In a sea of multiplayer-focused shooters, Star Wars Battlefront distinguishes itself as much by what it does as what it doesn't, and that comes at a price. Its old school simplicity doesn't always mesh with its attempts to bring those ideas into 2015, and it lacks some of those back-of-the-box bullet points that most modern AAA shooters wouldn't be caught dead without.

That said: This in a game where you crest a frozen ridge on the surface of Hoth and see a thousand lasers turn the sky into a disco and an AT-AT into scrap metal. If a little of the fat has to be trimmed for more people to have that experience, then blaster holes for bullet points seems like a fair trade.

Giantbomb - 3/5

It’s hard to not get caught up in the occasional moment in Battlefront if you’re a big Star Wars fan. I loved stalking towards rebels as Darth Vader, force choking them as the Imperial March played. As I played as a Stormtrooper on Tatooine, I stopped for a moment to watch Luke and Vader battle with lightsabers as X-Wings and TIE fighters engaged in a dogfight above them. There’s a whole lot of Star Wars seeping out of every pore of Battlefront, and no amount of forced fan service took away from the fact that some moments in this game reminded me of the many things I love about the film franchise. If the impending release of The Force Awakens has you in the mood for a casual online shooter set in the Star Wars universe, this game can certainly provide that for a dozen or so hours. Battlefront initially checks all of the boxes for being a great Star Wars game, but its limited amount of content and lack of meaningful progression kept me from wanting to return for more than a brief visit.

Destructoid - 6

Star Wars Battlefront feels authentic in many ways, but that authenticity is aggressively pursued at the cost of gameplay, and is often tacked-on. If you're in the mood for a relatively shallow shooter with caveats you likely won't be disappointed, but I wish that DICE had a little more time to polish it and add more substance.

IGN
- 8.0

Star Wars Battlefront captures everything I love most about Star Wars. It’s playful and imaginative, driven by a sense of adventure and fun above all else. By embracing this, and improving on the classic original Battlefront, developer DICE has made almost exactly the Star Wars multiplayer shooter I’ve always wanted.

The catch is that this revival comes with baggage, and doesn’t always know what to do with itself.

Game Informer
- Review in Progress

I'm enjoying my time with Battlefront, and look forward to playing plenty more of it, but I worry about the depth it has out of the box. Even in my first few days of playing, the repetition of having only four maps for the game's best modes, Supremacy and Walker Assault, sank in quickly. Can the allure of an authentic Star Wars experience top a light offering? Time will tell.
