Xbox One Console Reviews

 They just want the clicks. They could easily just make the review provisional like polygon does.

seemed like almost every single preview was like that..in the first teaser where Locke had said something like"Lets bring him in.." people thought they were going to try and capture him

I would not be shocked if master chief wasn't in Halo 6. Spartan Locke and team osiris can carry the series for a couple of games. Let the black man take over lol.

The $25 is a good price for a Christmas gift.

I hope they let me use that Gamer discount.

ya I seen a lot say they did it in the forum for the same deal on slickdeals...too much legwork imo just to get my hands on that controller...if I trade in my old system I'd still have to pay about $300 extra when you include tax...the elite controller + the free controller and game that gamestop are throwing in still don't justify paying that much outta pocket

I wanted Fight night round 4 and Mass Effect 2 :(

Ever since we announced Backward Compatibility was coming to Xbox One the number one question I get asked is, “What games are going to be available?” That question has finally been answered.

Today Mike Ybarra, Director of Program Management for Xbox, announced the first 104 titles coming to Xbox One Backward Compatibility when the feature launches as part of the New Xbox One Experience on 12 Nov.

At Xbox, we believe that gaming is universal and should be enjoyed by everyone, everywhere. Our philosophy since launching Xbox One two years ago has been to put gamers at the center of everything we do and create the best, most seamless gaming experience possible. We’re taking a major step forward in that journey on November 12 when we start rolling out the New Xbox One Experience with Xbox One Backward Compatibility.

Today, I’m happy to unveil to you the first 104 Xbox One Backward Compatibly games. Some of my favorites are included, like the complete Gears of War catalog, Assassin’s Creed II, Fallout 3, Borderlands, and Castle Crashers. The full list of the first 104 games is below and can be found at the Backward Compatibility page at Xbox.com. And, as I said at gamescom, going forward, all Xbox 360 games available through Games With Gold after Nov. 12 will be playable on Xbox One.

Our launch of 104 titles on Nov. 12 is just the beginning. You can expect new Xbox One Backward Compatible games to be announced on a regular basis, starting in December. More titles are on the way, including fan favorites like Halo Reach, Halo Wars, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Bioshock, Bioshock 2, Bioshock Infinite and Skate 3. Stay tuned because this just the beginning of a long list of Xbox 360 games that will run on Xbox One.

Read the full announcement over at Xbox Wire. And for more information about Xbox One Backward Compatibility check out this video where FLitz from Smosh Games asks me questions about the feature, and this post where I discuss what you need to know in preparation for Backward Compatibility.

If you don’t see your favorite Xbox 360 title on the list and you want to try and get it added, visit the Xbox Feedback website and vote on the existing nominations or submit your own.

I’m also providing a handy list of Xbox One Backward Compatibly titles for your reference:

Rise of the Tomb Raider Reviews

Rise of the Tomb Raider captures the thrill of being an adventurer and leaves you thinking about Lara's next move. You have daredevil sequences, heroic moments, fun exploration, and exciting fights that even Indiana Jones would envy. If Crystal Dynamics keeps raising the bar from here, I can't wait to see what's next for Lara.

Rise of the Tomb Raider executes the franchise formula with confidence

In many ways, Rise of the Tomb Raider could be viewed as a fairly modest sequel. It successfully builds off Crystal Dynamics' excellent reboot, but it doesn't introduce any massive changes; the scope is greater but still in spitting distance of the previous game. But successfully regaining the feeling created in an extremely good game is no small feat. This is the inauguration of Tomb Raider as a formula once more, but for now, it's a formula I'm happy revisiting.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is better than its predecessor, but only because of its additions; it doesn't fix any of the things that were wrong with Tomb Raider (2013). The story is smoothed down, much of it hidden away in dull audio logs. It's not about "survival" as billed, given the ease of mowing down dozens of folks and plenty of resources. But finding tombs wherein to clamber about ancient Rube Goldberg machines, coupled with the gorgeous visual flair and diverse environments, make Rise's wilderness one worth exploring and elevate Tomb Raider's otherwise perfunctory take on the third-person action platformer. I still get a strong sinking feeling in my stomach when I've misjudged a jump and watch Lara careening towards a splat.

Fallout 4 Reviews

Fallout 4 brings great gameplay to match its world and ambiance

Bethesda's open-world strengths have always differed from its contemporaries in that focus on world-building and a sense of place above all else. Fallout 4 has all the ambiance and history that made its predecessors such wonderful places to get lost for hours at a time, with a much more coherent set of stories within it. That Bethesda has integrated a major building and crafting tool while finally building a great-playing game almost feels like a bonus.

After spending over 40 hours with the game, I can safely place it somewhere in the middle of Fallout 3 and New Vegas in terms of quality. A lot of the franchise's signature problems have carried over directly into Fallout 4, but all of its charms have come along for the ride as well. It manages to do a whole lot right, but the story drags at times, and glitches...glitches never change.

Fallout 4 didn’t blow me away like the previous iteration did, but it did keep me thoroughly entertained and fully vested in journeying across the wasteland. As Bethesda's "Welcome Home" marketing campaign teases, when fans of Fallout 3 or New Vegas enter this new world, it'll feel strangely familiar. As one of the top games of the previous generation, this isn't a bad thing at all. Fallout 4 has all of the trappings that can keep you engaged for days on end.

Fallout 4 has given me some of my best gaming memories of 2015, along with some of my most frustrating. These are legacy problems that aren't going away any time soon, and as fun as the settlement crafting is here, I'd gladly do without it for a game engine that offers a more dependable foundation for future adventures. Fallout 4 is a great game. It's also kind of a mess. Caveat emptor.

As a whole, though, it's a loving production. It's filled with care and attention to detail—like the expanded set of radio stations, or the way flash radiation storms bathe the world in a sickly, ominous green hue. It's a pleasure to pick through the world, to discover new sights, and to pick through the perks and customisation option to conceive the perfect character build, however bizarre. In short, many of Fallout 4's problems, like every Bethesda RPG before it, are a consequence of what makes them unforgettable. That might not be the neatest conclusion, but it explains why, 50 hours in, I'm still having fun. It also explains why, now that I've finished this review, I'm going to play it for many hours more.

Xbox-One-Elite-Controller.jpg

Microsoft warned buyers that Xbox One Elite controllers might be low in stock for the rest of 2015. Amazon has decreed that controllers might not be available until 2016.
Amazon posted a long note on the availability of the Xbox One Elite controller as of right now. The outlook does not look pretty if you want one in time for Christmas.

Amazon announced:Due to high customer demand, orders shipped from and sold by Amazon.com placed now are unlikely to be delivered until Spring 2016. Order now and we’ll notify you by email when we have an estimated delivery date for this item. Orders will be fulfilled in the order in which they are received.”

The semi-good news is that if you ordered the controller between October 9th until October 20th, you should be able to receive it by mid-December sometime. Hopefully those orders will be delivered in time for Christmas.

Retailers and Microsoft may have underestimated the demand for the Xbox One Elite controllers. These bad boys cost $149.99 a pop. They may be expensive, but they’re the most accurate controllers you can get for the console. They are perfect for professional gamers or anyone else that wants accuracy and precision.

^^^ the MS store sells a few thru out the day periodically...walmart too...I actually had them in my cart from both stores today..."perfect timing" but I hesitated on pulling the trigger...a minute later both sites were showing out of stock again...no word on my order from gamestop yet...just sent them an email asking for a status update since my order has been saying "open" for almost 2 weeks now and the bundle officially releases today...I'm hoping they don't fuck me over and cancel my shit

I should've preorderd that controller when i had the chance, I was waiting for a deal. Now i have to wait until next year :smh: lol. Unless The Microsoft store comes through with extra controllers in December. Major Nelson said they will.

The Target deal is not working for Tomb Raider and Fallout. :( Maybe i have to wait until 12:00 pst :dunno:

And you can't combine those two games for the best buy deal.
