New Rise of the Tomb Raider trailer and Box Art Revealed

An all-new trailer for “Rise of the Tomb Raider” debuted this morning, offering a glimpse of Lara Croft’s drive and motivation as she embarks on a new adventure throughout the most treacherous and remote regions of the world and embraces her destiny as the Tomb Raider. The trailer showcases the spirit of adventure and discovery that drives Lara in this next chapter of her journey, launching exclusively on Xbox in 2015.

Looking Beyond E3, Microsoft Teases Major Plans for Gamescom

"We should have as much new content at Gamescom as we will at E3," Xbox executive Phil Spencer says.

Later this month, the focus of the gaming world will be on E3 in Los Angeles, but that's not the only gaming show this summer. Xbox company Microsoft has now said it preparing to have a major presence at Gamescom in Germany this August, promising a breadth of content as significant as what we'll see at E3.

"We should have as much new content at Gamescom as we will at E3," Xbox boss Phil Spencer said to a fan on Twitter who asked if Microsoft would be holding some major reveals for Gamescom.

Spencer didn't elaborate further about Microsoft's plans for Gamescom, which will be held this year in Cologne, Germany August 5-9. Unlike E3, Gamescom is open to the public, and historically draws crowds in the hundreds of thousands.

This news may not come as much of a surprise, as Microsoft has a history of making blockbuster reveals and announcements at Gamescom.

Just last year, Microsoft announced Rise of the Tomb Raider's Xbox exclusivity during the show. Other significant announcements out of Gamescom from Microsoft have included a 1TB Xbox One console and a white Sunset Overdrive system, among other things.

Competitor Sony held a Gamescom briefing last year, but the company will not do so this year. This would, in theory at least, give Microsoft an opportunity to capture more attention than in previous years.

This isn't the first time Microsoft has talked up its Gamescom showing. The company previously said that its 90-minute E3 show won't include everything it wants to talk about, meaning some reveals will be saved for Gamescom.

"This year, we have an amazing games lineup to share (who knew it'd be so hard to pack all of our exclusive E3 premieres into an hour and a half?)," Microsoft said last month. "So we're saving a lot of exciting reveals for Gamescom in August."

Looking Beyond E3, Microsoft Teases Major Plans for Gamescom

"We should have as much new content at Gamescom as we will at E3," Xbox executive Phil Spencer says.

Later this month, the focus of the gaming world will be on E3 in Los Angeles, but that's not the only gaming show this summer. Xbox company Microsoft has now said it preparing to have a major presence at Gamescom in Germany this August, promising a breadth of content as significant as what we'll see at E3.

"We should have as much new content at Gamescom as we will at E3," Xbox boss Phil Spencer said to a fan on Twitter who asked if Microsoft would be holding some major reveals for Gamescom.

Spencer didn't elaborate further about Microsoft's plans for Gamescom, which will be held this year in Cologne, Germany August 5-9. Unlike E3, Gamescom is open to the public, and historically draws crowds in the hundreds of thousands.

This news may not come as much of a surprise, as Microsoft has a history of making blockbuster reveals and announcements at Gamescom.

Just last year, Microsoft announced Rise of the Tomb Raider's Xbox exclusivity during the show. Other significant announcements out of Gamescom from Microsoft have included a 1TB Xbox One console and a white Sunset Overdrive system, among other things.

Competitor Sony held a Gamescom briefing last year, but the company will not do so this year. This would, in theory at least, give Microsoft an opportunity to capture more attention than in previous years.

This isn't the first time Microsoft has talked up its Gamescom showing. The company previously said that its 90-minute E3 show won't include everything it wants to talk about, meaning some reveals will be saved for Gamescom.

"This year, we have an amazing games lineup to share (who knew it'd be so hard to pack all of our exclusive E3 premieres into an hour and a half?)," Microsoft said last month. "So we're saving a lot of exciting reveals for Gamescom in August."

Microsoft's E3 2015 briefing is set for two weeks from today, on Monday, June 15 at 9:30 AM PDT. GameSpot will bring you all the news from the event as it's announced. For more on E3 2015, check out GameSpot's complete roundup of all the dates and times for every E3 briefing.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection Adds Remnant and Halo 3: ODST Today

Brand new content for Halo: The Master Chief Collection is available today. Remnant, a re-imagined version of the Halo 2 multiplayer map Relic, will be added to the multiplayer of Halo 2: Anniversary as part of a free game content update. And the fan-favorite Halo 3: ODST campaign, enhanced and running in 1080p and 60fps for the first time is also launching today. The Halo 3: ODST campaign will be free to eligible consumers who logged in to their Xbox Live account and played Halo: The Master Chief Collection between Nov. 11, 2014 and Dec. 19, 2014.




Eligible players will receive a download code that can be redeemed for the campaign of Halo 3: ODST through Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

The Halo 3: ODST campaign will be available as downloadable content for Halo: The Master Chief Collection through the Xbox Store for $4.99 (coming soon).

Next week, Xbox is kicking off the biggest games week of the year as we head to Los Angeles for E3 2015 where we’ll showcase the best lineup in Xbox history. But before the lights go up and we take the stage for our media briefing, we wanted to share a few pieces of early news as we continue to put games and gamers at the center of everything we do.

Since Xbox One launched, one of the most frequent requests from fans is to add more storage to their consoles. Today, we’re unveiling the Xbox One 1TB console, with a new matte finish and more storage for your games and media, making it the best place to play the biggest blockbusters this holiday like Halo 5: Guardians, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Forza Motorsport 6. Only Xbox offers the most choice when it comes to storage options, now with increased on-board storage as well as the capability to extend game storage by adding an external USB 3.0 drive.

But that’s not all. We’re also including our newly designed Xbox One Wireless Controller that now comes with a 3.5mm stereo headset jack, and in select regions for a limited time, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, the definitive Halo experience on Xbox One.*

I'm returning it...tried to watch the game the other night and ABC couldn't get a signal...was pretty pissed...the channels I get show perfectly but the rare time I wanted to watch something on local TV and the shit didn't come thru...I need a QAM TV tuner (cable cord)...and the XB1 only supports ATSC (antenna)...I just bought another hauppauge TV tuner for the PC...shit works cool and letting me pick up the free local HD channels that show w/o having to worry about a poor signal...have it attached to my asus vivo PC...so I can do the DVR thing even tho I really don't do that

Next week, Xbox is kicking off the biggest games week of the year as we head to Los Angeles for E3 2015 where we’ll showcase the best lineup in Xbox history. But before the lights go up and we take the stage for our media briefing, we wanted to share a few pieces of early news as we continue to put games and gamers at the center of everything we do.

Since Xbox One launched, one of the most frequent requests from fans is to add more storage to their consoles. Today, we’re unveiling the Xbox One 1TB console, with a new matte finish and more storage for your games and media, making it the best place to play the biggest blockbusters this holiday like Halo 5: Guardians, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Forza Motorsport 6. Only Xbox offers the most choice when it comes to storage options, now with increased on-board storage as well as the capability to extend game storage by adding an external USB 3.0 drive.

But that’s not all. We’re also including our newly designed Xbox One Wireless Controller that now comes with a 3.5mm stereo headset jack, and in select regions for a limited time, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, the definitive Halo experience on Xbox One.*

Xbox One 1TB consoles will start shipping to retailers June 16 in the United States and select markets later this month and will be available starting at $399 USD ERP.* We’re also pleased to announce that starting today, the $349 USD price on all standard Xbox One 500GB consoles will be permanent in the United States and select regions.**

With the updated controller, in addition to the volume and mute controls on gaming headsets, you’ll also have the option to adjust headset volume, mic monitoring, and voice and game audio balance through the Settings menu on your console. A major info-bomb was dropped by the folks at Game Informer today, as they announced their July issue cover story about ‘Halo 5′. A summary of the article’s content reads thusly:

“You’ve played the ‘Halo 5: Guardians’ multiplayer beta. Now it’s time to uncover the mysteries behind the story.

We went to 343 Industries to get the first hands-on with Master Chief’s campaign. As you can see from the cover imagery, the Chief is now accompanied by the legendary Blue Team in both single-player and four-player co-op. Linda, Fred, and Kelly were abducted when they were six years old alongside John to be turned into Spartan-II super soldiers.

This tight-knit squad grew up together and battled through many adventures in the expanded fiction, but this will mark their first significant role in a core Halo game. With the loss of Cortana in ‘Halo 4′, Blue Team steps up to interact with Chief, appear in cutscenes, and accept commands from him in single-player. In co-op play, everyone takes on a specific member, each with a different loadout unique to their specialty.

We played an early mission set before Master Chief and Blue Team are declared AWOL by the very military that made them. The flipside of the campaign follows Spartan Jameson Locke, seen in the ‘Halo: Nightfall’ TV series, as he tracks down Halo’s signature hero to bring him in or take him down. Locke recruits a team of his own, Fireteam Osiris, to do the job. This mix of familiar and new faces rounds out the team of high-tech Spartan-IVs, who all come from elite military backgrounds.
Our lengthy hands-on sessions also included plenty of time in the revamped competitive Arena multiplayer. In the cover story, we break down specific changes to the Empire map from last winter’s beta and we debut a never-before-seen map called Fathom. This undersea base looks gorgeous and is loaded with all kinds of hidden tricks for experienced players to dig in and discover. 343 also teases a new multiplayer mode never seen in a Halo game before.”

This game really looks like it’s ushering in a new golden age for the Halo franchise; in terms of story, characters, and gameplay. And this is just the beginning…I can’t wait to find out more about what is in store for us this year!
