Xbox One Console Reviews

Off subject but the Microsoft Store is giving $10 in Microsoft money for any game you preorder from them. I'm preordering games from them and Gamestop. Buy the copy in the store for bonus DLC, then return it unopened while my online copy comes in with my free ten bucks.

ReddX: reddit App for Xbox One Available Soon

In June we announced more than 45 new entertainment experiences coming to Xbox One and we continue to deliver on that commitment with additions like ReddX, an app that we are confident our reddit fans will embrace with open arms.

At Xbox, community is a big part of who we are. And we know at reddit, community makes up the very core of the service there, too. The launch of ReddX on Xbox One is exciting because it combines the intense community involvement we’ve come to know on both platforms with the unique capabilities offered by Xbox One.

Starting tomorrow, you can combine your reddit experience with the biggest screen in your home: thanks to Xbox One, while you game, you can also browse the first-ever reddit app for the TV. ReddX on Xbox One can be Snapped to the side of your TV while you’re gaming or using another app to help you monitor and join in threads on the site while you’re doing anything else. Thanks to ReddX, redditors can interact with each other in similar ways to the reddit.com experience, and in addition unlock unique media achievements named after some of the Internet’s favorite memes. In fact, I just posted the first reddit thread created from a console tonight before we officially launch in the morning – check it out here.

ReddX on Xbox One lets Xbox Live members in the U.S. and Canada check out every subreddit in addition to a customized main page. You can read text and view images, videos and GIFs on your TV and can even zoom in or out of text and images for a closer look.

Using ReddX also allows you to upvote or downvote a thread with just the touch of a button, as well as easily add your comments using your Xbox One controller, media remote or Xbox SmartGlass on your smartphone, tablet or laptop. If you find an image that’s just too good to pass over, ReddX lets you save a photo to your profile or set any image as the background for your ReddX app.

Also launching this week on Xbox One is MTV along with new updates coming to the Twitch app on Xbox One. For more details on those, click here to head over to Xbox Wire.

We have just confirmed with 2K Sports, NBA 2K15 will have Ernie Johnson and Shaquille O'Neal. Unfortunately, it will not feature Inside the NBA.

You can watch this quick video clip of Ernie Johnson at 2K Uncensored, talking about what it was like to be on the NBA 2K15 motion capture set with Shaq. He also provides his best "Shaq impression".

No other details were revealed to us. So we don't know exactly how the duo will be utilized. We hope to hear more later this week.

Konami's finally giving the world a look at the multplayer component of the next Metal Gear Solid this week.

First unveiled at Gamescom last week, The Phantom Pain's online portion will have players invading each others' bases. This video from IGN starts off with the previously shown chunk of the single-player campaign; seven minutes of multiplayer start at 16:55.

The preview gives a look rewards from the single-player campaign can be used to trick out individual bases, making them trickier to infiltrate. You can also use the Fulton balloon to yank stuff back to your own ops center, including enemy soldiers that you can convince to work for your version of Snake.

Pre-purchasing and pre-loading of Xbox One games has come to Xbox One earlier than expected, thanks to EA Sports' Madden NFL 15. The Xbox One version of the game is now available for pre-loading to those who pre-purchase the game through the Xbox Games Store.

Microsoft announced at its Gamescom press conference that game pre-loading would be available on Xbox One this September with the release of FIFA 15 and Forza Horizon 2. Microsoft was rumored to have pre-loading available on Xbox One earlier this year, when a page on Xbox.com hinted at a pre-load option for Respawn Entertainment's Titanfall.

On Twitter, Xbox Studios partner studio manager Mike Ybarra said the move was in response to giving Xbox fans a feature they've been asking for.

Xbox One owners who subscribe to Electronic Arts' EA Access program are able to pre-purchase and play — for a limited time — game like Madden NFL 15 ahead of their official release date. This year's Madden will hit Aug. 26. The Madden NFL 15 pre-purchase listing on Xbox.com says the game download won't unlock until 12:01 am BST on Aug. 29, which appears to be in error.

It appears as if Microsoft has begun a new program that would allow Gold subscribers to demo certain games for a 24 hour period, according to an image shared on Reddit.

"Yes I am in the preview program. I already own the game so it doesn't work for me. All it does for me is go to the store and I can select play from there because I already own it," the Reddit user posted.

We've reached out to Microsoft for comment, and have yet to hear back at the time of publication. Having a way to allow users to play a game for free for a day would be a nice addition for Xbox Live subscribers, and could also be a powerful promotional tool for the games supported.

Xbox Support seemed to confirm this as a new feature.

The idea of cloud-based gaming has been around for a long time but nobody has seemed to have nailed down the functionality because of one major issue, latency. Microsoft has a vested interest in both gaming and cloud based services, so finding a way to resolve the latency issue could be a big win for the company.

And that's exactly what Microsoft Research has done with a project called DeLorean. You can read the full paper at the source link below but what they have done is created a way to render frames before an event occurs in a game and based on your inputs, the platform delivers the correct set of frames to your device. The paper says that using this method they can mask up to 250ms of latency and they do this by combining future input prediction, state space subsampling and time shifting, misprediction compensation and bandwidth compression. When you combine all these features together, Microsoft refers to it as DeLorean.

If you are thinking that cloud based gaming is only good for RPGs and other slower paced games, think again. While Microsoft did test out the service with Fable, they also used Doom 3 as a benchmark too. The end results were that the user preferred to use the DeLorean setup for cloud based gaming over that of traditional cloud based gaming technologies that are currently available.

The implications of this technology, if it works in the real-world as well as it does in a controlled environment, will be a way to deliver Xbox style gaming on any screen that has a solid Internet connection. It's easy to see why Microsoft would want this feature as it could be a huge addition to its Xbox Live Gold product offerings.

The hacker group claiming responsibility for today's PlayStation Network outage sent a bomb threat, via Twitter, about an American Airlines flight carrying Sony Online Entertainment president John Smedley. Smedley has confirmed he is on the flight and that it was diverted for security reasons.

"Something about security and our cargo. Sitting on Tarmac," Smedley tweeted. Polygon has reached out to representatives of Sony Computer Entertainment America, SOE and the Federal Aviation Administration for additional comment.

Earlier this afternoon, the hacker group that says it brought down PSN tweeted this threat to American Airlines' account. A tweet since taken down also contained an image appearing to show an e-Ticket for Smedley's flight, with a confirmation number, asking Smedley and Sony if this was indeed his flight. The hackers continued to tweet threats about the flight.

Both American's flight tracker and FlightAware.com (screenshot above) show American Airlines Flight 362 being diverted from its path to San Diego into Phoenix.

Smedley earlier today mentioned he was flying from Dallas back to San Diego; SOE has significant operations in both areas.

Xbox Live has been suffering intermittent issues today, but Microsoft doesn’t seem too worried.

xbox_live_down.jpg

Reports of Xbox Live’s demise seem to wildly exaggerated.

Xbox 360 users have had some trouble logging into Xbox Live today, but the service alert spotted by GameInformer has already been resolved.

At time of writing, the only Xbox Live service status alerts concerned Diablo 3′s party chat, intermittent server issues, and the PBS app.

If there were indeed widespread log-in issues for Xbox Live – and we have no reason to believe there weren’t, of course – Microsoft seems to have resolved them pretty easily, which makes “hacker” group LizardSquad’s Twitter boasting look a bit silly.

LizardSquad has also claimed responsibility for the PSN succumbing to a DDOS attack this weekend, but this claim is not being taken seriously in security circles.

LizardSquad is responsible for making a bomb threat against American Airlines to inconvenience Sony Online Entertainment president John Smedley, though.

LizardSquad is now strutting about on Twitter claiming the FBI cannot do anything to its members, despite authorities having great success tracking down similarly disruptive users in the past. The crew has provided contact details, presumably for press. We’re not biting.

Playstation Network Vulnerabilities 2014

Welcome followers and supporters of FamedGod. Over the past 9 hours many are wondering why such events have occurred to the playstation network. Sony is a company that lacks the security which makes every user vulnerable to having their information leaked. Jailbreaks can access hidden and prohibited content now. Memory dumping can reveal the hidden servers which personal and main information is stored. Simple hex converting and decryption lead to a full DDoS on playstations main server data center. Please understand, I am here to show, that you as a corperate company are vulnerable. Sony You just launched a new system on a new network but it all leads to the same server. How more vulnerable could you make your network? Take advise from microsoft and their ways of security. They know what they're doing and have the security to prevent most attacks. This took little to no effort to preform such an attack. The funny thing is that you still allow people to access the network on these jailbroken consoles. If you really wanted to remove them from your network entirely, you would drop the current network and forge all the information to a new and well secured network making it impracticle to mod the next. The fact you cant even stop the sign in from modded firmware is ridiculous. You apparently, didnt solve a thing when you went down for a month. I hope you think twice next time. Thank you and Follow me on twitter at famedgod.

:eek::eek::eek:DAMN!

I seen that IGN gave Madden an 8.7, I'm thinking about getting it only because they don't make NCAA Football anymore. Any other reviews out there on Madden yet?
