With the “Onslaught” expansion bringing iconic Halloween villain Michael Myers to Call of Duty: Ghosts, the upcoming “Devastation” DLC pack seems like it will be bringing another classic movie monster to the game, according to a new teaser video from Infinity Ward.

Published on the official Call of Duty Instagram account, a short teaser video was released featuring a short glimpse at one of the new maps in the pack, along with mysterious clicking sounds and an invisible enemy – familiar sights to fans of the Predator films. Having had Michael Myers teased in a previous Instagram video, it seems that we can expect the “Devastation” DLC will include another movie villain, The Predator.

The “Devastation” DLC Pack will be heading to Call of Duty: Ghosts on Xbox One and Xbox 360 on April 3rd, 2014, followed by a release on PS4, PS3, and PC at a later date – in the meantime, you can check out the teaser video below for a taste of Predator:

Respawn has announced that Titanfall matchmaking system has been updated to better support skill differences amongst players.
We have been watching the game performance and we know that there has been a problem of a lack of variety in the teams. We are fixing that – but let’s get into matchmaking and skill a little bit.
Titanfall has a skill system behind the scenes, even though we don’t show this to players.
Respawn has made changes that are now out in the new Improved Matchmaking Beta playlist under Play Classic MP.
We’ve made some changes to address this:
1. Searching for teammates and opponents will now sometimes take more time to look for players that are a good skill level match, rather than purely prioritizing speed over quality. This will give us more time to build better teams and create closer games that are worth staying in for a longer period of time.
2. Rather than playing against the same opponents over and over, the game will periodically split the teams apart and search for new opponents for each team. This means if one team is dominating, we will update the skill for all of the players and then find each team a better suited match for the next round. Did you lose to a really great team? We’ll make them disappear and replace them with a new opposing team – and they will have no idea that you just got your butts kicked. This should end some of the frustration with playing for extended periods when you’re having an off night.
We’re making these changes available immediately in a new “Improved Matchmaking (Beta)” playlist that you can try right now under “Play Classic MP”. We may expand this into the other playlists after we watch the behavior and tweak things so that we’re happy with it.

The End of Arkham: Why Rocksteady Is Done With Batman

rxtt96aygalpcgpzunuv.jpg

Hanging up the cowl to "control our own destiny."
by Mitch Dyer
March 28, 2014

Rocksteady is ready to end its time with the Batman: Arkham series.

Rocksteady made the decision itself, so it's not like Warner Bros. or DC Comics have had their fill of the UK developer's work. Rocksteady's Dax Ginn said of bringing Arkham to a close, "the decision was a vision from us that our colleagues at Warner and DC Comics bought into, and it was decided, 'yeah, let’s do that.'"

But why stop now?

"We’ve done all we can do here," Ginn says. "It’s…it’s kind of time for us to walk away from it."

Ginn explains, "Anything we do is a collective decision between Rocksteady, Warner Brothers, and DC Comics. But it was something that we were really pushing for because we had a really clear vision for how this story should end, and the way we wanted it to end."

That finality comes by way of the Batmobile -- and a sizable Gotham City in which to use it.

"For us I think the Batmobile is that final thing," Ginn says. "It’s such a critical part of the game, the epicenter of the design, but once we’ve done this, I don’t know we’re ever going to feel like we’ve missed out on a critical piece of what it feels like to be the Batman. That was kind of our driving force all along."

None of this is to say, of course, that Rocksteady's future doesn't involve Batman at all. Warner Bros. and DC Comics could tap Rocksteady for a bigger-picture look at the DC Universe, whether that's in a Superman title, a Justice League game, or a new brand of Bruce Wayne. But Arkham is over for the team, presumably to be continued with WB Games Montreal, the studio behind Batman: Arkham Origins.

So what's the future of Rocksteady?

"I’ve had a dream of us just shuttering the studio and walking away like rockstars, 'We’re done here!'” Ginn jokes. "Our attitude is, if we deliver on Arkham Knight, smash it out of the park, the opportunities we’ll have in the future will be massive. We will be able to control our own destiny in that respect."

The team's focus now, of course, is accomplishing exactly that -- creating something special to send off the Dark Knight. Ginn points to the box art, of all things, to show what Rocksteady's aiming at.

"The color spectrum between Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, and Arkham Knight was something that we wanted to develop and explore…. That was a temperature spectrum that’s really interesting," he says.

Arkham Asylum has a cold hue, while Arkham City took a more neutral black-and-white stance. "Arkham Knight is the other end of the spectrum. It’s hot, it’s fire, it’s heat, it’s flames. So when you look at the trilogy of games there’s this really nice color spectrum…with an explosive ending."

Pete Dodd QUITS after being exposed by audio dev and Col Rodgers

(There will be a lot of links, so please excuse them)

The infamous industry insider Pete Dodd, aka FamousMortimer, took to NeoGaf in an attempt to contextualize all the recent departures at the Sony studios. He had made claims such as Stig Asmussen from Santa Monica Studios being let go from Sony for wasting money on a project that was ultimately cancelled and Amy Hennig from Naughty Dog leaving due to creative differences between her and others on Uncharted 4. But it appears that his chickens have come home to roost when Dodd was called out by an audio developers and personal friend of Col Rodgers, Anthony Putson from Orchestral Media Developments.
.
Putson challenged Dodd’s “insight” saying that Col Rodgers left Evolution for personal reasons.

“Mort, Col Rogers left Evo for personal reasons in Feb, he wasn’t pushed, he left on his own terms, and certainly wasn’t replaced and let go. I know this because he’s a friend of mine, so please be sure next time of the accuracy of your information.”

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=106037408#post106037408
.
…to which Dodd denied and proceeded to question just who Orchestral Media Development is (for those of you who don’t know, they are a prestigious audio team that has been in the industry for over 20 years).

https://twitter.com/atPeteDodd/status/449323757790691329
.
Putson called him out on NeoGaf responding
“ …20+ yrs in the industry with nearly 400 projects completed, THAT’S who. Complete lack of respect to me, and to Col and pretty much everyone as long as he gets his fix. I used to like him, I followed him on Twitter but sorry, I don’t follow trouble makers.”

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=106074977#post106074977
.
To make matters worse, even Col Rodgers came out and called out Pete Dodd as “Obviously not an insider.”

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=106121033&postcount=1393
.
.
This isn’t the first time Pete Dodd has been called out as a phony as way back in February Dodd started rumors of Amazon buying out Xbox after the news the Amazon bought Double Helix studios. Aaron Greenberg, Chief of Staff for Devices and Studios Group at Microsoft commented on the matter citing it as “Ridiculous, cannot believe people would even believe something like this.”
.
In response to all this, Pete Dodd has called it quits on his career as an “insider” His final words being
“I hereby decree that I am retiring from my position of “gaf insider.” Whatever the fuck that ever meant. From henceforth! Good day, gents.”

https://twitter.com/atPeteDodd/status/449621566083829760
.
At this point, I’m not even sure we can trust anything else he has said as of late since we was so sure of Col Rodgers being fired which was completely false. And to Pete Dodd who clearly was making up rumors for some unknown purpose, good riddance.

Col_Rodgers

Hello, all.

This is my first post on NeoGAF, and whilst I'm not generally one to deal in internet speculation, I have to put the record straight with regard to Pete Dodd's comments above.

Everything he has said with regard to myself and Driveclub is incorrect. It's also libellous.

As Putty (who is a personal friend of mine, and has been for about 25 years) suggests, I left Evo in February for personal reasons. The personal reasons being that my son, who is 4 years old, has been diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome, which is a potentially life threatening condition. I live 220 miles (4 hours drive) away from Evolution Studios, and was away from home 5.5 days a week. Given the circumstances, I could not continue to work there.

Driveclub is a great game, and the direction hasn't changed since my departure. This has been confirmed by SONY in various press releases over recent days.

I have no problem in dealing with very large projects, as I've been working in the games industry for the last 19 years, and have worked on some very prestigious titles, so there is genuinely no truth to anything posted by Mr Dodds at all. My departure (and indeed the setup of my 'indie' operation, BigRedSwitch) is 100% driven by family necessity, not some professional failing on my part.

I left SONY on very good terms. There is no animosity there, and I was absolutely nothing to do with the recent redundancies - in fact, the news of those redundancies was probably linked on here before I knew about them.

The games industry is a tough place at the moment. My circumstances with my son mean that I've had to leave secure work in order to try to make my own way in the world. This may entail getting another job. With people who obviously know nothing about the situation blackening my reputation for the sake of internet 'fame', this could be made much more difficult. It's nothing less than trolling.

I've contacted Mr. Dodd on his email address on his site. Due to the factual inaccuracy of his statements, I've informed him that he needs to remove the statements and apologise for the damage they have caused, as posting incorrect information and claiming it's true is quite simply libel.

I'm sure you can all appreciate just how difficult things are for myself and my family at the moment. I'd genuinely appreciate it if you can take my statements as word from the origin, and realise that there has been no big cover-up when it comes to my departure from SONY/Evo.

Thanks, all.

Col.

Angry Joe didn't say shit we haven't already said in here... Fun game, but the campaign is ass, the servers and matchmaking sucks at times, and the grunt and spectres are retarded... What else is new?...

I'll say this tho. I can't remember the last time I used "fun" in the same sentence with BF or COD...

I hate that this will be their last game but I understand that a team can get tired of working on the same project after years & years. I hope the next title gets passed on to someone who's passionate about the franchise. Im happy to buy a next gen console just for this.

Hope they add some nine sizable story dlc missions to this. I wouldn't mind playing as Night Wing or Catwoman again. Playing as Arazel would be cool also.

In laymen terms,,,they are not paying right. No one turns down good money.

John Carmack, co-founder of id Software and current CTO of Oculus, has weighed in on the Internet's ... shall we say "mixed" reaction to the news of Facebook purchasing the virtual reality-oriented company. Carmack responded to a post titled "Wrong and Right Reasons To Be Upset About Oculus" on Anamanaguchi lead songwriter Peter Berkman's Tumblr page, noting that, while he was not involved in the negotiations with Facebook, he has "reason to believe that they get the Big Picture as I see it, and will be a powerful force towards making it happen."

That being said, even Carmack seems surprised by the acquisition. "Honestly, I wasn't expecting Facebook (or this soon). I have zero personal background with them, and I could think of other companies that would have more obvious synergies," Carmack wrote.

Many have expressed concern over Facebook's policies regarding private information, but Carmack doesn't share those worries. "I'm not a 'privacy is gone, get over it' sort of person, and I fully support people that want [to] remain unobserved, but that means disengaging from many opportunities. The idea that companies are supposed to interact with you and not pay attention has never seemed sane to me," he wrote in a separate comment. "I have never felt harmed by data mining, and I rather like the recommendations that Amazon gives me on each visit."

You'll be able to create a fighter in EA Sports UFC, but you won't be able to share your creations with other players because of headaches surrounding intellectual property rights, said creative director Brian Hayes in an interview with MMAjunkie.

EA's previous mixed martial arts title, 2010's EA Sports MMA, included a feature called Fighter Share that allowed players to upload their created fighters to EA's servers so other players could download and use them. (A similar feature was available in EA Canada's Fight Night series of boxing games.) People frequently created fighters whom EA did not license to appear in EA Sports MMA, including UFC combatants such as Chuck Liddell and Georges St-Pierre.

Players also created and shared unrelated individuals like Bruce Lee, Rocky Balboa, Snoop Dogg and Harry Potter — and that's where EA ran into trouble.

"Nowadays, when people can make YouTube clips and share them, there's this whole gray area where if our game allows users to make a Rocky character that's the intellectual property of somebody else, it causes a ton of problems," said Hayes, while noting that the developers at EA Canada "loved" the feature. "There is a Create-A-Fighter, and you could create you own [sic] Rocky, but when we are facilitating the sharing of content, it gets very difficult."

In an interview with Polygon last month, Hayes said that EA was aiming to launch EA Sports UFC in "very late spring." Asked about the publisher's latest release plans, Hayes told MMAjunkie, "We've been saying spring 2014. It was always going to be late, late spring. But that was the plan. We could say spring or we could say summer."
Check out our full interview with Hayes for gameplay details on EA Sports UFC.

A new trailer for Call of Duty: Ghosts showcases its second multiplayer expansion called Devastation and confirms a guest appearance from the Predator, the trophy hunting Yautja first introduced in 1987 film Predator.

Developer Infinity Ward teased the alien's inclusion last week in an Instagram video, which featured a jungle setting, a wrecked helicopter and a purring cloaked opponent. The latest trailer shows an uncloaked Predator, possibly in the new Ruins multiplayer map that is set amongst an ancient Mayan temple.

The video also offers players a brief look at the four new multiplayer maps rolling out with Devastation: Behemoth, set in a South American excavation site; Collision exists on a container ship; Ruins; and, Unearthed, a call-back to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's Dome map.

Devastation features Mayday, the second installment of four-player co-op story mode called Extinction. The trailer offers glimpses at the monsters included in Mayday, such as the 100-foot-tall Kraken and a "insidious wall-crawling" creature known as the Seeder.

The expansion also introduces the Ripper, a new two-in-one tactical weapon which provides two different configurations: medium to short-range capability as a SMG, and medium to long-range as an assault rifle. Ghosts' DLC season pass holders on Xbox 360 or Xbox One received access to the Ripper earlier this month.

The expansion is part of the $49.99 season pass, while non-season pass holders can purchase it separately for $14.99. Devastation will launch April 3 on Xbox 360 and Xbox One as an exclusive to the consoles for an unspecified period of time.

Phil Spencer is taking over as the head of Microsoft's Xbox branch, the company announced today.

Spencer, who most recently served as the chief of Microsoft Studios, will now lead that division as well as the entire Xbox business, including Xbox Live, Xbox Music and Xbox Video. His official title is Head of Xbox.

"Combining these teams will strengthen the connection between some of the world's most innovative creators and those building the Xbox itself," said Spencer in a statement on Xbox Wire. "It's been a remarkable year for Xbox and I am honored to lead the team at this incredible time for Microsoft and the games industry."

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced Spencer's promotion in a companywide email today. Spencer will report to Terry Myerson, executive vice president of the company's Operating Systems Group, which covers Windows, Windows Phone and the Xbox One operating system. According to Nadella, Spencer will continue to work with Yusuf Mehdi, chief marketing and strategy officer for Xbox; George Peckham, head of Xbox third-party relations; and Mike Angiulo, corporate vice president of hardware development for Xbox.

"Combining all our software, gaming and content assets across the Xbox team under a single leader and aligning with the [Operating Systems Group] team will help ensure we continue to do great work across the Xbox business, and bring more of the magic of Xbox to all form factors, including tablets, PCs and phones," said Nadella. "I love the way the Xbox team is focused on great games and gaming experiences (go, Titanfall!), connects with its fans, pushes the boundary of entertainment and has embraced the power of the cloud in such interesting and impactful ways. Phil is the right person to lead Xbox forward."

Spencer has spent 25 years at Microsoft. He worked on products such as Encarta and Microsoft Money before taking the position of Microsoft Studios' worldwide general manager in 2008 and being promoted to corporate vice president the following year. Prior to that, he was the general manager for Europe, the Middle East and Africa of what was then known as Microsoft Game Studios. Under his tenure, Microsoft has built up a stable of key franchises such as Halo, Gears of War, Fable and Forza.

The Xbox branch at Microsoft had been without a single, official leader since Don Mattrick, the president of the division, left the company last July to become CEO of Zynga. Shortly after Mattrick's departure, Microsoft announced a major reorganization under which Julie Larson-Green became the head of the Xbox hardware and studios groups, while Myerson was given leadership of development on the Xbox One OS. Larson-Green took a new position within the company in February, and was replaced by former Nokia CEO Stephen Elop. Marc Whitten, who had served as chief product officer for Xbox, departed earlier this month for audio equipment manufacturer Sonos.

Nadella announced today that Elop will serve as executive vice president of Microsoft's Devices group once the company's $7.17 billion acquisition of Nokia closes, which is expected to occur by the end of April. Elop, said Nadella, will work with Spencer and Myerson when it comes to the Xbox platform.

Phil Spencer, the newly appointed Head of Xbox at Microsoft, says he'll lead the Xbox team — which includes Xbox Live, Xbox Music, Xbox Video and Microsoft Studios — with a "gaming first" philosophy, focusing on video games as the most important component of the four-month-old Xbox One.

"Xbox is a gaming brand and [Microsoft] took the person who was at the head of the gaming franchises to lead the Xbox team," Spencer said in an interview with Polygon today. The appointment, he said, "really shows a commitment" to games on the platform that was first introduced to the world with a focus on entertainment.

"With me you're going to get a focus on gaming first and a best platform to play games on," Spencer, formerly the head of Microsoft Studios, said. "It's not a focus we ever lost but it's one I'll be accentuating at Microsoft. It's really going to be a gaming-led focus with Xbox and my new role allows us to execute on that."

Spencer said that in discussions with Microsoft executives, like new CEO Satya Nadella, Microsoft Devices Group executive vice president Stephen Elop and Terry Myerson, operating systems head and Spencer's boss, defining his new role as Head of Xbox was about "ensuring that from a company level everybody understand the importance of Xbox as a brand and the strength of our platform."

A unified organization, Spencer said, with the key Xbox businesses aligned under him, will help create "a tight feedback loop" between the people who play games on Xbox, the Xbox team at Microsoft and the game developers who create content for the platform.

And according to Spencer, Xbox customers are more interested in more gaming content on Xbox One over anything else.

"I see the conversation focusing more on the games: what new IP we are investing in, what's going on in Japan, what are we doing with Halo," Spencer said. "It's my job to make sure the best content shows up there... maybe a mix of things we're bringing back from the past, like Killer Instinct, which was very successful, as well as new IPs, like Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive and other things we haven't announced yet.
"As the conversation with the customers today centers around the content that we have, that's the majority of my focus. And we're talking to developers about the next thing they want to be doing on Xbox."

Spencer said the biggest request he hears from Xbox owners is that gamers want Microsoft to bring back Shenmue, Sega and Yu Suzuki's unfinished action adventure epic. "The big Shenmue contingency," he said with a laugh, has definitely managed to garner his attention.

While a new Shenmue may not be in the immediate future, Spencer said Xbox has "the best lineup of content in a long time" planned for this year's E3 and beyond. That, he believes, will help Xbox One sales catch up to those of Sony's PlayStation 4, which is outpacing Microsoft's platform in sales so far.

"We're early on in the console generation, and obviously Sony's having a great launch," he said. "Console gaming is doing incredibly well right now. Six months ago, everybody wondered if console gaming was dead... but this is a long, multi-year generation and my fundamental belief is that great games create the best platforms."

Two years after leaving G4, veteran games journalist and TV presenter Adam Sessler is now seemingly leaving the field behind entirely.

In a short blog post, he announces that after sixteen years in the field it's time for something new.

After some incredible achievements over the last year and a half, I am announcing my departure from Rev3 Games and Discovery Digital Networks. Sixteen years in front of the camera covering the videogame industry has brought me to a point where I am ready and desiring to explore new opportunities. While I would never say no to doing one more review, interview or opinion piece, the time feels right to explore new avenues inside of gaming that help further the medium. The audience, my wonderful and talented co-workers and the last year at Rev3 Games will forever be appreciated for what was accomplished. There never is a right time to part ways with something that has become as natural as breathing, but things do end and now feels right.
That "new avenue" appears to be consultancy, as his Twitter bio now says he's "the President of TheoryHead, Inc.", which is a "consultancy for entertainment and media".

In Tangier the Parade Bar is closed…. [Ex-Sess]

His opinion on his last review hurt a lot of feelings.
He one of the best, wish him good luck.

gametrailers sucks now and Adam is gone, fuck.

thatguyisonpc Luke Plunkett

I'm pretty sure some of it has to do with the absolute toxic community that YouTube has. Every time he posted a video review or gave an opinion on something that people didn't like the masses would insult him every way they possibly could. I'm sure it was a much different experience going from TV where the communication is one sided and he has no direct relation to his viewers to YouTube where everything he says and does is instantly viewed, rated, criticized and is directly fed to him.

When he knocked off points on God of War for the Trophy "bros before hoes" he was panned by the internet as some sort of traitor to their brand loyalty and people said that his opinions were invalid for the rest of his career because of that. It's absolutely stupid.

KaiserWolffthatguyisonpc

That probably is only part of the reason, because really if that was a major factor he could just disable comments like TotalBiscuit does with his videos.

Sucks for Sessler. Wish him the best. But something is Really wrong with gamers nowadays. Titanfall metacritic reviews and any IGN article prove that.

Add the whole YouTube gaming section, N4G, Neogaf, gametrailers & Gamestop to that.
Shit got so bad that Amazon had to delete reviews from there site. And Toys R Us had to disable comments on the Fabulous 15 video, then they took the video down. :smh::lol:

Phil Spencer talked about this a week an a half ago. This shit is out of control now. Sony needs to say something, but they won't.

But metacritic though. :lol::itsawrap:

i remember both adam AND morgan would get clowned on the g4 forums for their reviews sometimes for days on end..thats why they had to keep remaking those"fan threads":smh:

Well today, Respawn announced that Improved Matchmaking will be leaving its beta stage and that the Attrition and Hardpoint Domination playlists will be updated with this new feature. However, other game modes like Last Titan Standing, Pilot Hunter, and Capture The Flag will be recieving the update later.

I used to be on the IGN boards back in the day and that shit was sickening.
