Red Dead Redemption, Castlevania SOTN, Tekken Tag 2, Left 4 Dead 2 & Halo Wars Xbox Backwards Compatibility Listings Leaked

X1bclistingleaks.jpg

We’ve talked a lot about Xbox One’s Backward Compatibility feature since it was announced last Summer from the preview program all the way up to last month’s list of games released. Going back to last month, Xbox stated that they would no longer be releasing games on backwards compatibility as a bundled monthly release and would start releasing titles to the public when they were ready. Earlier today, while snooping around for news on the feature on when the next game or set of games would be released I ran across some interesting sights within the Xbox Store…

l4d2x1.jpg
halowarsx1.jpg

castlevaniax1.jpg
tekkentag2x1.jpg

That’s right, I located listings for 4 Xbox 360 titles, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Left 4 Dead 2, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Halo Wars, 3 of which have yet to be announced for the service. Which brings me to my question, WHY DO WE NOT HAVE THESE NOW? I know what you are gonna answer with, “It’s because they might not be completely ready for public consumption” which could be true, however, I was able to download and test one of the games and i’ll let you judge for yourself on quality with the video below.

So with this game running as smooth as the 360 title (minus the minor hiccup) the question remains, “Why is this not available to download publicly?” This runs 8 million times better than Halo Reach and that made it to the masses. I doubt that Symphony of the Night takes much tweaking for emulation. So that now raises the question on what Xbox means by games becoming available when ready. The main reason for this article is to hopefully shine a light on the subject and help speed things a long. If quality is such a concern, maybe they should include preview members to test out games (that might be a thing already but i’m just covering all bases here). Anyways, let me stop rambling. Microsoft we just wan’t X1’s Backwards Compatibility to shine and not be forgotten like it was on 360.

UPDATE: Red Dead Redemption has also been listed on the marketplace

How To Get Red Dead Redemption Running On Your Xbox One Right Now

u1uitlo3nht06dwefl7o.jpg

One of the most requested additions to the Xbox One’s backwards compatibility list, Red Dead Redemption is now available for download and play. Folks just need to own the game digitally and find someone already following the game. Don’t worry, I know a guy.

From a screenshot showing Rockstar’s Western available for download on an Xbox One posted at NeoGAF the news spread like wildfire, but don’t expect the game to show up in search on your Xbox One. In order to access the Red Dead Redemption page on the Xbox One you have to find someone following the game. If you look up F4hey you should be able to go to my followed games and find it.

Once there you can download the game, as long as you own it digitally. If you don’t own it digitally you’ll see “Bundle Only” in the purchase options. You can grab the Xbox 360 version over at Xbox.com for $29.99, which is what I just did.

And here we are.

If you own the game on disc, give it time. If the digital is working the disc should get a roll-out soon.

Looking through Twitter I am seeing folks reporting other games popping up the same way—Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night—but my “games I already own on other consoles” budget just got blown.

Happy trails!

red dead redemption tho is HUGE...still hoping they gonna release something for this gen :please:

Update 3: According to Microsoft’s official Xbox Support team (via GTAOnlineNews), Red Dead Redemption will be fully playable again on Xbox One later today. When asked about the title being removed from the program, an Xbox Support agent told GTAOnlineNews that they were fully aware of the error and that it’s currently being worked on by their engineers.

Apparently, the game is currently undergoing sever maintenance for Xbox One, and should be ready within the next few hours. In addition, the support rep also clarified that both digital downloads and discs will work later today.

“Right now, the main server of the game is updating [and] that is why digital downloads and disc are not yet accessible on [Xbox One Backwards Compatibility] program, but we are aiming and on track that this will be sorted within the day.”

As for DLC, Xbox Support explained that the Undead Nightmare expansion should be available sometime on Backwards Compatibility, however, no set date has been confirmed.

Finally, the Xbox Support rep also confirmed to GTAOnlineNews that she would like some chocolate. You have to love the humour that Microsoft’s support teams have!

The TRUTH About The Division

An interesting question about The Division being an rpg with shooting by the homie, but easily explained. Games are being more realistic and since this game is set in modern times, we expect modern physics. Shooting an enemy with a rocket and not killing him because he is a higher rank than you makes complete sense. In real life that would kill a person, and multiple people around him, but if we question that, we'd have to question Cloud swinging that giant sword at a security guard and only taking away a few hit points. Cloud's sword should destroy any human being, but we understand it's a role playing game and that's how they work. The Division was always marketed as an action-rpg, we are getting what was promised...so far.

The future of Destiny revealed.

By Mitch Dyer Ahead of its quarterly earnings call today, Activision has revealed more on the future of Destiny, which will see a major expansion this year and a sequel next year.

"Activision Publishing, along with its partners at Bungie, expects to bring a large new expansion to Destiny in 2016 and to release a full game sequel in 2017," the investor note reads. Activision also stated that 25 million players have logged more than 3 billion hours in Destiny.

Last month, a report asserted that Destiny's sequel was delayed out of 2016 and into next year.

Destiny's Valentine's Day event is ongoing right now.

No new Assassin's Creed game this year, Ubisoft confirms (update)
The franchise is taking a break

ac_syndicate.0.0.jpg

Assassin's Creed is taking the year off, Ubisoft announced today. The publisher won't release a new entry in the popular franchise during 2016; instead, the development team is "stepping back and re-examining the Assassin's Creed franchise," according to the post.

"We've also updated our development processes and recommitted to making Assassin's Creed a premier open-world franchise," the company stated. "We're taking this year to evolve the game mechanics and to make sure we're delivering on the promise of Assassin's Creed offering unique and memorable gameplay experiences that make history everyone's playground."

Instead, the upcoming Assassin's Creed film will be the only major release for the franchise this year. Assassin's Creed, starring Michael Fassbender, will debut Dec. 21.

Reports emerged that the franchise would take a yearlong break in January. Sources close to the Assassin's Creed team shared that the developer was reconsidering its annual release schedule. The next game would launch in 2017 and take place in Egypt, the report claimed.

The news coincides with Ubisoft's third-quarter financial report, which the company shared today. The fall release of Assassin's Creed Syndicate had a "slower launch than expected," it noted in the report.

Regarding the company's upcoming financial targets, CEO Yves Guillemot said, "We are now in a position to take the decision not to release a new Assassin's Creed game in 2016-17, in order to give the brand a new dimension, while still presenting very solid targets for the fiscal year."

Ubisoft's calendar for the year includes South Park: The Fractured But Whole and Tom Clancy's The Division, among other titles launching by March 2017.

Update: Guillemot explained the break from Assassin's Creed during the company's earnings call today. The goal, he said, was to finish developing future games in the series earlier so that the company can spend more time polishing them. The point is to spend less money on that final polish, limiting the amount needed to be done post-launch.

Assassin's Creed Unity, for example, notably shipped in 2014 with several issues, which the company attempted to address after its debut.

Guillemot also addressed debuting the Assassin's Creed movie without a corresponding game on the shelves this year. Ubisoft is dedicated to launching the movie franchise as a separate entity from the game franchise, he said. It's not based on any existing game, and won't receive a tie-in.

"We didn't want to connect the movie to a game that would be about the same subject," he explained. "The movie guys are actually extremely happy we don't have a game."

The focus this year is to grow the audience for the film as its own brand, Guillemot said.
