Bungie got to wonder by now why theyre taking so many L's..
Destiny's story originally revolved around players and their hunt for Rasputin, a Warmind now found in the Cosmodrome. According to a report by Kotaku, that story was scrapped in 2013 and completely retooled using assets already in place in the game.
"Bungie ditched everything" that had been written by former cinematic director Joe Staten and his team, according to the report. That meant everything needed to be reworked, as Bungie "scrapped plot threads, overhauled characters, and rewrote most of the dialogue" for the game.
The game's original plot was condensed into a cinematic "super cut," which was shown to Bungie leadership. According to Kotaku, the plot revolved around the Alien Hive kidnapping Rasputin and taking him to their Dreadnaught spaceship, something which was moved to The Taken King. "Originally, this Hive ship would have been part of the main story," the report states, saying the last third of the game took place entirely on the Dreadnaught.
However, studio leaders felt the story was "too campy and linear," and scrapped it, starting again from scratch. Parts of the game that already existed needed to be reworked to fit into the new story, and many elements of the final game were much larger parts of the original story. The Trials of Osiris reference Osiris, who originally served as a guide for players. Osiris' robotic guide was also scrapped and retooled and, according to the Kotaku story, eventually became The Stranger.
Other parts of the game were reused and retooled for The Taken King, and a piece that originally was planned for The Taken King expansion was given to High Moon Studios to be part of the alleged Destiny sequel planned for 2016.

there are several single player missions for battlefront...no overall campaign tho
Companies / Devs probably take into account statistics of players playing or finishing the story campaign versus the players who play multiplayer. They might as well save put more focus on the multiplayer modes. I know people who will jump right into the multiplayer without even touching the single player. Leroy didn't even unlock Trevor in GTA 5. I think new IP's can get away with scraping the single player campaign replace of a co-op campaign or the very least a 5 hour campaign if nothing else. The retail price should be at $50 for if they are gonna skim consumers are less game modes.
True, but after a couple months people get tired of multiplayer.... Titanfall.

GTA V is a huge exception for me tho...first time I've ever gone crazy over multiplayer...what helps immensely is 2 things...one minor...one major...the minor plus for me is that online is 3rd person...but the major plus is being able to create/customize you're own character...I knew from the start I wasn't gonna suffer thru the campaign and online would be where it's @ once they revealed that you'd have a chance to include "yourself" in the game...but I still need campaigns...I'm probably one of the very few ppl who still buy/play COD solely for the campaign...I don't even bother going online...battlefront doesn't have a traditional campaign but there are enough single player missions that can hold me down before I decide if I want to play online...being in 3rd person I'm pretty sure I'll get in some multiplayer sessions too...I'm surprised you remember that comment about trevor tho...I made it to his first mission and said fuck this
ya it pretty much is...I'm not gonna lie...I was disappointed when I heard no campaign but I'll wait and see some reviews/gameplay on twitch 1st before getting it anyway...but right now I'm leaning toward it from what I've read
ya that was a waste of $$$ granted I paid like $15 for it...but I played it once and haven't bothered since...it was fun but nothing really different than any of the other multiplayer FPS that's out there...but a campaign would've been really nice
I was going to preorder this but I'm confused as to what no campaign mode means but they're having single player missions.
Like how many missions are we talking?
these are all the missions...I am not sure if they all are/aren't capable of being played as single player but they were listed separately from the various multiplayer modes
ya I'm wait first but it looks good...@ least I can practice and have options to play solo w/o jumping into a lobby...the missions can be good practice prior to jumping into multiplayer combat...and I like that you can switch from 1st to 3rd person...I wish COD or battlefield did this
thats precisely what Respawn did for Titanfall..then again they were like"why even bother to put a campaign when no one even plays it..?"
now games like Fallout 3/4,the Deus Ex series and Bioshock 1 and Infinite(2 had a wack MP mode IMO) and Wolfenstein The New Order seem to be the go-to titles for ppl who like campaigns/stories
