There’s never been a good video game based on Friday the 13th, but the folks at Gun Media are hoping you’ll let them give it another shot.

Friday the 13th: The Game just went live on Kickstarter, proposing a 1-on-7 multiplayer game where one person gets to prowl around as Jason and everyone else plays the poor camp counselors. It’s possible to attack Jason, apparently, but not recommended. Remember, it doesn’t go well for people in the movies.

Former games journalist Adam Sessler (and horror fan) has been teasing a “dream project” on Twitter for a little while now, and he’s part of the pitch.

(To be clear, Sessler and I used to work together—we’re friends. Cool? Cool.)

If the setup for Friday the 13th: The Game sounds familiar, that’s because it started life as a Friday the 13th-inspired game called Slasher Vol. 1: Summer Camp. When the game was unveiled, the developers were reportedly contacted by Friday the 13th producer Sean Cunningham, who proposed joining forces.

There’s not much to show of the game itself just yet, with the teaser trailer focusing on a CG-rendered setup for the game.

There are, however, a few “pre-alpha” screen shots available.

Asking for $700,000 is no joke, and it comes days after the P.T.-inspired Allison Road abandoned its crowdfunding efforts in favor of a traditional deal with a publisher. One reason Allison Road probably took the deal? Barring a last-minute boost, it wasn’t looking likely the game would get funded. Allison Road was riding a wave of hype that’d lasted months, and it still proved difficult to fund.

Gun Media is claiming they’re avoiding a publisher to keep the franchise’s identity—violence, nudity, etc.—in tact:
We love working with publishers, most of them are great companies to work alongside. Fans of the “Friday the 13th” film series know that when it comes to Jason Voorhees, violence, gore and nudity aren’t just concepts to consider – they’re necessities. Collectively, we wanted to make certain that this game delivers the same kind of fun, brutal scares and creative kills that the franchise is known for and didn’t want to risk having to tell our story with a “T” for Teen rating. We don’t want that. You don’t want that.
Despite being in development for a while now, Friday the 13th: The Game is seeking crowdfunding to increase its scope, including a single player mode:
To that end, the proposed single player portion will give you the Jason experience you’ve never had; direct through his eyes. We’ll be offering several ‘scenarios’ based off classic movie scenes from the franchise as you stalk and kill each and every counselor from a first person perspective. Not to leave the counselors out, we’ll be adding several counselor scenarios where you’ll have to confront your fears and take on Jason directly, especially in compromising situations! We are not going for anything less than a Mature Rating on this; the franchise deserves it! These scenarios might also make their way to VR, and would bring an entirely new perspective to the slasher genre!
As of this writing, it’s raised a little over $20,000, with one person already backing the hefty $10,000 tier. Getting to $700,000 won’t be easy, but as a horror buff myself, I’ll be keeping an eye on how this project does.

I'll buy it when its half off.

Star Wars Battlefront is a beautiful game that's riding the wave of enthusiasm about the upcoming film and renewed interest in Star Wars in general. The game's beta was open to everyone who wanted to play on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One or PC, and EA is reporting that the game has given them record numbers of players for the company.

"Yesterday, the Star Wars Battlefront beta surpassed a major milestone: more than nine million players logged in and played," the official blog post states. "That makes this the single largest beta in the history of EA. We could not be happier that so many of you wanted to come in to get a small taste of what our passionate team has been working on."

The game doesn't ship in North America until Nov. 17, and Europe will see the game on Nov. 19. That may not seem like much time, but EA and DICE now have mountains of player data and feedback to sift through, and at least some time to tweak the game based on the beta.

"Even more importantly than just showing up, you’ve been spending a lot of time playing, having a great time and leaving us some invaluable feedback, as we continue to tune and balance the game," the post states.

You can read our thoughts on the beta, as well as explore my inability to tell if the danged thing is any good, even as I was having fun with the included content.

if the game does happen there better be some Jason X DLC

Just got the new dashboard

Just messing around with it i actually kinda like it. Looks pretty damn good vs the old tile set up.

Now, i haven't tried recoding clips or anything like that but just from initial handling it is cool with me.

Hopefully it stays that way

MUCH faster, awesome community section now!
Sound effects when navigating the UI. Feels much better.
Notifications icon in the sidebar/guide is now the windows 10 equivalent. New messages icon in the sidebar.
You can now see when someone is in a party/game from friends list. You still can't see party roster.
Haven't used profiles much but there is a captures section where it shows all of their clips in a neat fashion.
The menu you get when pressing and holding the Xbox button is now a wire frame menu with no solid green (only highlighted item is green). In this menu they added quick shortcuts to narrator and magnifier (don't know if new).
You can now "snap" friends, messages, parties, settings.
Plex can play .mkvs flawlessly now and without crashes.
Xbox select now works correctly on the home screen/guide.
Background is brighter and actually fits the screen now as you select the image.
Netflix input bug was fixed. It used to get input from the guide/home screen with the menu open.
You can now snap achievements and the UI is FAST. I think it is faster due to only showing your recently played games though. But the achievement tracker works and it shows like your last 5-10 played games. No more delays on this shit. Just a quick loading indicator.
You can now remap your controllers!
You can now toggle "Appear Offline".
Edge no longer loses it's cursor randomly. Edge no longer crashes on HTTPS websites randomly.
You can now dismiss notifications with x from the notifications pane.
You can now kill background apps with the menu button from the home screen.
With party open, press x to quickly mute the party or y to quickly mute your mic.
In friends list press x to invite someone to your party when they are highlighted. Based 360 features
People are reporting that overscan is fixed for them. I never had this problem as my TV had native resultion detection anyways.

As long as my clip recording is fixed I'm happy. I missed a lot of good clips last night because of that shit.:angry::angry: but if it's working now like stated above in the previous posts :D:D:D

Successfully navigating fall gaming season is sort of like trying to thread a needle. There’s so much that you have to account for. Even the most basic of games comes with extra downloadable content that only those that pre-order can get their hands on free of charge. There are season passes to consider and multiple versions to sort through. The task is even more tedious when you’re looking into Halo 5: Guardians pre-orders.

Halo 5: Guardians is this year’s biggest launch for the Xbox One. It’s excusive to the console, meaning gamers won’t get to play it anywhere else. So closely are the fates of Halo 5: Guardians and Xbox One intertwined that Microsoft has saw fit to inundate the gaming space with exclusive extras and different versions designed to give anyone who wants to play an on ramp to the franchise.

Here’s what you need to know about the different Halo 5: Guardians Editions coming later this October. This information should allow you to place a Halo 5 pre-order for the extras you want now or at least decide if you’re better off waiting until the Halo 5 release day on October 27th to pick up a copy.

Halo 5: Guardians Pre-Order Extras

Amazon

The Halo 5 pre-order extras start with Amazon. The retailer says that it’ll ship Halo 5: Guardians to shoppers in time enough to arrive on release day. Theoretically, this means that users will miss the midnight launch festivities, but have their physical copy of the game in time to start the campaign or experience the multiplayer on release night.
<center>
</center>
Anyone who pre-orders a copy of Halo 5 at Amazon gets a Projection SMG gun with a Long Barrel. The retailer’s pre-order extras also include a Saturnine Visor. Both items are exclusive for use in the game’s multiplayer and will arrive in code form after Amazon has shipped the physical game itself.

Wal-Mart

Wal-Mart, the world’s largest physical retailer, is doing something a bit unorthodox. Users still get their Halo 5: Guardians pre-order on release day, but they don’t get a code to unlock any extras inside the game. Instead, Wal-Mart is handing out $4.99 codes to its VUDU video service with every pre-order.

Microsoft Store

The Microsoft Store is doing a lot for early buyers. Pre-ordering any copy of Halo 5: Guardians gets shoppers there a $10 Xbox Gift card to use for anything in the Xbox Store. Shoppers also get a Recon Assault Rifle with an Energy Bayonet and a Lagrange Assault Rifle Weapon Skin. Buyers should get their copy on release day too.
A Sentinel Rifle with weapon skin.

GameStop

Pre-ordering a copy of Halo 5: Guardians from GameStop is the only way to get Hunter Class Armor and Helmet that Spartan Jameson Locke wears in the game’s campaign. GameStop is also giving away codes for a Rampant Visor and Emblem, a Bloodthirst Battle Rifle Weapon Skin and the Sentinel Battle Rifle. Codes for these items will come on shoppers receipts if they make their pre-order in store.

Best Buy

Best Buy is giving users a code for the Longshot Assault Rifle with Recoil Compensator and Athlon Iccus Armor when they pre-order Halo 5: Guardians. In edition to that, it’s giving My Best Buy members $10 in gift certificates and My gamers Club Unlocked member another $10 in gift certificates. Shoppers save 20% off the game too.
Remember to pre-order at the right place to get the in-game extras that you want as a reward. All that being said, it’s hard to imagine that 343 Industries won’t make all of these extras available for purchase through the game’s REQ System. The REQ System lets players earn credits for doing things. Players redeem those credits for new customization options and add-ons.

Halo 5: Guardians Edition Breakdown

Besides the pre-order bonuses, shoppers should take into account all the different editions of Halo 5: Guardians Microsoft has coming. Theoretically, it’s a good idea to start with this decision first and then pick a retailer. Gotta Be Mobile broke down each edition of Halo 5 this summer, but Microsoft has added a new wrinkle to the line-up.

Halo 5: Guardians Standard Edition

Halo 5: Guardians Standard Edition is the cheapest way to get the game this year. It comes with the game’s campaign, arena multiplayer, Warzone multiplayer and the Forge when it arrives in December. Depending on where it’s purchase it also qualifies for pre-order extras at all the different retailers offering those sort of things. Disc or digital, a standard version of Halo 5: Guardians costs $59.99.

Halo 5: Guardians Limited Edition

Halo 5: Guardians Limited Edition comes with a physical copy of the game, a 14-day trial of Xbox Live Gold and a Steelbook case. Microsoft also includes a Metal Earth Guardian statue that buyers must assemble themselves, a WarZone REQ bundle, access to the Fall of Reach series and a book containing Spartan Locke’s orders to hunt down the Master Chief. Halo 5: Guardians Limited Edition costs $99.99.

Halo 5: Guardians Digital Deluxe Edition

Available exclusive through Xbox Live, Halo 5: Guardians Digital Deluxe Edition includes a downloadable copy of the game, a WarZone REQ Bundle and access to the Fall of Reach series. There’s also a load out weapon and a weapon skin included with the bundle for $89.99.

Halo 5: Guardians Limited Collector’s Edition

At $249.99, there’s the Halo 5: Guardians Limited Collector’s Edition. Packed into the massive box is a massive statue featuring both Master Chief and Spartan Locke. Buyers get the other extras too, like the Guardians statue, Xbox Live Gold free trial and WarZone REQ Bundle. Also included is the copy of Spartan Locke’s orders and a Steelbook case even though the bundle only includes a digital copy of the game. Users can trade that digital code for a physical copy ahead of the Halo 5: Guardians release day. Pre-order this bundle now if you’re a hardcore fan, Microsoft says supplies are limited.

Halo 5: Guardians Limited Edition Xbox One

Finally, there’s the Halo 5: Guardians Limited Edition Xbox One Bundle. This console comes with a Halo 5 themed Xbox One and matching controller with 1TB of storage. Also included is the Guardians statue, REQ Bundle, and a game download. The physical copies of Spartan Locke’s orders are also included along with a 14-day free trial of Xbox Live. This bundle costs $499.

Good luck with your Halo 5: Guardians pre-orders.

We’re only two weeks away from a new Halo game, and if you’re an Amazon Prime member, you can save $10-$20 on your preorder. As always with Amazon preorders, you won’t be charged until the game ships, you should get it on launch day, and if it gets any cheaper between now and October 27, you’ll automatically get the lowest price. Remember, you won’t see the discount until checkout.

Preorder Halo 5: Guardians ($50) | Amazon | Prime members only. Discounts shown at checkout.

A new menu called Beta games and apps will be available to NXE Xbox One Preview members today through the Xbox Preview Dashboard app. The Beta games and apps section allows Preview users to directly download betas and apps to test out before they go public. Integrating it into the main interface will avoid having to deal with entering codes and having to go through multiple steps. To inaugurate this new feature, the Community Calendar app will be unveiled. The Community Calendar will highlight major upcoming Xbox Live events.

Last week, Microsoft removed Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 digital preorders from the Xbox One store without a proper reason, but today it appears the title is back up on the store for digital preorders.

As of now, the Xbox One Store is now accepting preorders for both the standard edition and the Digital Deluxe Edition. The description for the game still says “Available at your local retailer for preorder,” but the “Bundle Only” button is gone and “Preorder for Xbox One” button with the official price is back.

If you’re interested in pre-ordering, you can visit the Xbox One store on your console or store.xbox.com.

For pre-loading, many users that have already preordered have stated that they have been able to preload the title. The game is a 44.9GB download on Xbox One.

I am looking forward to co-hosting the big event later this month. Here is the press release about the event we shared today via Xbox Wire

Xbox and YouTube team up for one-of-a-kind “Halo 5: Guardians” launch celebration

“Halo 5: Live” broadcast and global fan events commemorate biggest game launch in Xbox history.

REDMOND, Wash. — Oct. 15, 2015 — Halo fans around the world will join together on Oct. 26 to celebrate the global launch of “Halo 5: Guardians,” one of the most anticipated games of 2015. Streaming exclusively on YouTube, “Halo 5: Live,” a six-hour live broadcast, will kick off at 6 p.m. EDT on Oct. 26 and culminate at midnight when “Halo 5: Guardians” goes on sale in North America. The broadcast will feature exclusive gameplay reveals, celebrity appearances, live interviews with the 343 Industries development team and much more.

“Halo 5: Guardians” is the most ambitious addition to the $4.6 billion sci-fi franchise to date, bringing together a gripping story, deep character narrative and teamwork-based gameplay. As a mysterious and unstoppable force threatens the universe, the Master Chief has gone AWOL and the UNSC’s elite man hunter, Spartan Locke, is tasked with hunting him down. As the pursuit unfolds, players can band together in a four-player cooperative epic that spans three worlds, or challenge friends and rivals in new multiplayer modes.1

“‘Halo 5: Guardians’ is the game we have always dreamed of making, and it was important to us that Halo fans in every corner of the world could join us in an epic-scale launch celebration,” said Bonnie Ross, corporate vice president and head of 343 Industries. “Whether they tune into the live broadcast on YouTube or come out and celebrate with us in person at one of our global fan events, we hope Halo Nation will help make ‘Halo 5: Guardians’ the biggest game launch in history.

The “Halo 5: Live” broadcast will connect millions of fans around the world, allowing viewers to watch, comment and virtually participate in multiple launch celebrations held in key international cities. Microsoft is reinventing the traditional video game launch, inviting fans to join in the celebration, no matter where they are located. Festivities currently planned include the following:

* The world premiere of “Halo: The Fall of Reach” episode one, the new animated series that tells the dramatic tale of the origin and intrigue behind the SPARTAN program that propelled characters like the Master Chief and Dr. Catherine Halsey into the pantheon of Halo lore.2

* The first Xbox roundtable featuring the writers behind “Halo 5: Guardians” and Nathan Fillion, the voice of Spartan Buck.

* Special documentaries will get up close and personal with Halo superfans around the world, showcasing what makes Halo Nation unlike any other community in gaming.

* A lucky fan in Australia will play “Halo 5: Guardians” from a helicopter flying over Sydney, as gameplay is broadcasted via a screen suspended from a second helicopter.
* In London, iconic entertainment venue The Roundhouse will transform into a “Halo 5: Guardians” celebration, with a friendly tournament between four teams of YouTube creators and fans. U.K. fans can win a chance to attend the London event by visiting http://bit.ly/1REsmt6.

* In celebration of a Halo superfan from Japan who has played over 10,000 hours of Halo, Master Chief and Agent Locke action figurines will travel to the edge of space for the most epic Gamertag selfie.

* A Taiwanese cosplayer will bring his passion for the Master Chief to life when he collaborates with one of the hottest jewelry designers in Australia to recreate the Master Chief’s helmet with more than 30,000 Swarovski crystals. The one-of-a-kind helmet will be unveiled during the show and kick-start a chance for gamers around the world to bid on it for charity.

* In New Zealand, Halo fans will converge at the close of the Armageddon Expo for multiplayer sessions, cosplay displays and more.

* In Hong Kong, a real-life course inspired by the new “Halo 5: Guardians” competitive Arena multiplayer mode, “Breakout,” will be constructed, putting Halo fans into real 4v4 combat.

* In New York City, a special fan destination will take place at the brand new flagship store Microsoft at Fifth Ave. and 53rd St., located in the heart of Manhattan and culminating in the midnight launch of “Halo 5: Guardians.”

“Millions of our fans around the world are waiting in anticipation of the launch of ‘Halo 5: Guardians,’ so we wanted to do something special for them and launch a video game in a way that has never been done before,” said Aaron Greenberg, head of games marketing for Xbox. “We are excited to stream the ‘Halo 5: Guardians’ launch exclusively through YouTube so fans can share in a New Year’s Eve-like countdown moment together.”

Special fan events will take place at all Microsoft stores. All stores will be streaming the “Halo 5: Live” broadcast and are offering an exclusive Halo poster with a $25 purchase, early gameplay and more for the midnight launch of “Halo 5: Guardians.” Fans can also enter a sweepstakes to win a trip for two to Seattle for a tour of the Xbox and 343 studios. More information can be found on the Microsoft store Facebook page.

The full “Halo 5: Live” launch day programming lineup will be announced soon. Additional “Halo 5: Live” details can be found at https://www.xbox.com/Halo5Live.
