Not a lot of games get my attention and anticipation but that Divison got me like :hellyea:

I wanted this for the PC, but most of my friends have XB1s. I was going to get one anyway, so I'm saved the trouble of playing with asshole strangers that like to take all the weapons and health items.

I was sold on this game when the player is pinned downed by fire behind a police car...and as he is changing position, he closes the slightly opened car door. That level of detail made this game a must have for 2015

Evolve offers something different, even if it doesn't always succeedEvolve occasionally

brushes against a real breakthrough for Turtle Rock, with its distinctive take on a different kind of multiplayer shooter. New territory always presents new problems, and Evolve doesn't always solve them. But it distinguishes itself from the pack of multiplayer options out there with the flair of something truly different.

Note: At this time, we haven't had what I would consider to be an extended amount of play time with Evolve in an environment approximating its final retail release. While Evolve's Beta ran reasonably well, this review will remain provisional until we're able to ascertain that 2K's servers can handle its launch.

Gamespot - 8

As with Turtle Rock’s Left 4 Dead, Evolve is best when you play with buddies; getting matched with a novice can lead to ghastly results if your newfound friend constantly seeks out the nonexistent “I” in “team.” It doesn’t take long to whip a newcomer into shape, at least, meaning you can usually focus on Evolve’s unique brand of greatness: the suspense of the hunt, the exhilaration of battle, and the drive to dominate Shear. Even Sasquatch would shiver at the dangers.

Escapist - 4.5/5

All in all, when Evolve is working well, it's one of the most enjoyable co-op experiences I have had in a long time. It looks great, the varied classes are all fun to play, and there's almost certain to be one that becomes your favorite. It's a great addition to Turtle Rock's resume, and a solid entry into the early release slate for 2015.

Bottom Line: Evolve is a strong co-op title that rewards good teamwork with an amazing experience. Plenty of variety in classes and game types makes every round something new.

Recommendation: If you're a fan of team shooters, or you just want to be a giant monster, Evolve is the game for you.

Something Bigger

In a world of overcrowded shooters, I've grown to enjoy Evolve and the uniqueness it brings to the table. One item that should be noted, though, is the shakiness of the game's shooting mechanics. While I mostly embraced the Assault class for a chunk of the review, that only made the iffy physics surrounding aiming and firing that much more apparent. Aiming doesn't get much easier with the monsters and when Goliath's arsenal contains a "rock throw" ability, not being able to reliably aim is a killer. This is part of the reason I wound up veering more towards classes like Support and Medic, but those looking for a solid "shooting" experience may want to take this into account.

Overall, it's a bit of a time investment, but after learning the ins-and-outs of hunting, Evolve starts to become a more engaging time-killer. Evacuation is a keen way to mix the game's otherwise uninspired game modes and its solid bot play means that I'll still be able to enjoy it even during down hours. The table for an enjoyable multiplayer session is set, whether jumping in with friends or getting more anti-social and devouring opponents as a lone monster. But considering some of the subpar game modes, I can't help but feel this package could have been something bigger.

Shadow Realms, EA and BioWare's 4v1 Action RPG, Is Cancelled

shadow_realms-970x0.jpg

Shadow Realms, the 4v1 action RPG from EA and BioWare, has been cancelled.

The news originally came from multiple unnamed sources speaking to Game Informer, but has now been confirmed in a blog post by BioWare Austin General Manager, Jeff Hickman.

According to Hickman's post, BioWare has chosen to focus on enhancements for Dragon Age: Inquisition, the next Mass Effect game, and "other new IP."

The team's biggest focus, however, will be on Star Wars: The Old Republic, which received its fourth expansion, The Shadow of Revan, late last year.

Commenting on Star Wars: The Old Republic last December, Hickman said, "If you like what you see in Shadow of Revan, wait until you see what we have coming for you next year. Next year is our big year."

As for Shadow Realms, Hickman says the team is working on a way to thank the players who participated in the game's closed alpha early on.

He also adds: "To all those players that gave us feedback at Gamescom and PAX, and those that shared their thoughts and impressions in the past months, we thank you for being part of the conversation."

They usually take a little longer on multilayer games because the servers aren't live. They'll have a review up in a day or two after playing with the general public.

Its only a few titles that they do that with. Like dude who posted above me it's mostly those multiplayer games like Destiny. I'm more cautious with throwing away money on games now than before. So if a bad review can save me some cash I'm fine with it.

Typically, game announcements fall into major console manufacturers presentations at E3. Metal Gear Rising was famously announced during an Xbox 360 conference, Destiny has firmly sat in the Playstation camp, but both games were multiplatform.

EA and Ubisoft publish so many games that it usually warrants full blown press conferences of their own. This year, for the first time, Bethesda will be holding its own press conference. Spare underwear time.

Bethesda are renowned as the kings of RPG, from Elder Scrolls to Fallout. At more than 20 million copies sold, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has crossed into the top 20 best selling games of all time, joining the likes of Super Mario World and Grand Theft Auto.

Besides Skyrim and Fallout, Bethesda have become a successful publisher. Critically acclaimed games like Wolfenstein: The New Order and Dishonored have put the company on the map as a competent partner for publishing, as well as developing their own games in house. Bethesda are also the purveyors of Doom, one of the the most prolific franchises in video game history (and a personal favourite, yeah even Doom 3, screw you).

B9fdQ1HCYAE7JFu.jpg

The announcement of Bethesda holding its own E3 conference (which, by the way, costs a bomb) is a testament to how successful the company has become, and perhaps more importantly, the fact that they've clearly got a lot to talk about this year.

Doom 4 has been in development for a while, Arkane Studios could be in a position to reveal long-rumoured Dishonored 2 following the cancellation of Prey 2, and we may see the announcement of a follow up to last years incredible sleeper hit - Wolfenstein: The New Order.

But really, what fans are hoping, and praying for, is Fallout 4. A new-gen exclusive, post apocalyptic, irradiated WRPG of our dreams and darkest nightmares. Please let it be so.

On June 14th, you can check out what Bethesda has to offer via their Twitch channel here: Twitch.TV/Bethesda. Bring spare underwear, for reals.

wouldnt mind a Wolfenstein II set in either the 70s or 80s..at the rate they going the new Doom probably wont be out till 2020

theyll probably talk about Fallout 4 once they bring in ron perlman at the E3 conference to say that opening line..

I'm patiently waiting for Gears Of War 4. I'll settle for Gears 3 HD till then.

I had gears 1 but I barely played it cuz my PS3 got more burn @ the time...I would gladly welcome a next gen reboot

Stepping up from his role as art director for the last entry, Brian Horton is now the game director on Rise of the Tomb Raider and is paying a lot of attention to the look of Lara Croft's new environment. Rise of the Tomb Raider takes players to Russia as Lara seeks a long-lost city and answers about the existence of the immortal soul. The new setting means new animals to hunt, new challenges to overcome, and new tech that the team had to create to make the world believable.

Watch the video interview below to learn more about the new world/worlds you'll explore and why wolves are always so hungry for tomb raiders.

Turtle Rock Studios already revealed plans for Evolve's monstrous amount of downloadable content prior to the game's launch, but even that doesn't include the more than $130 worth of skins and cosmetic items up for sale.

The game's Xbox One DLC hub spans four pages and includes 44 items that can be purchased a la carte. A quick breakdown: 24 are priced at $1.99, nine priced at $2.99, eight priced at $4.99 and three priced at $6.99 for a total of $135.56.

None of that is included in the game's season pass or the DLC associated with it. With the $24.99 Evolve Season Pass, players gain access to three skins exclusive to the pack and four new hunters. Hunters will be available individually upon release for $7.49 each.

The regular edition of Evolve, which includes only the game, rings in at $59.99. Players who purchase the Digital Deluxe edition for $79.99 also get access to the season pass.

Last month, following criticism in the face of copious amounts of DLC, Turtle Rock co-founder Phil Robb said the content amounts to "options, nothing more." Turtle Rock previously said that it will release any future DLC maps and game modes for free to prevent splitting the community.

Some Evolve players' progress is being wiped when they attempt to try to access their game's data from a second console, myself included. It's not clear why yet, but you should probably avoid playing between consoles if you value your time.

It's happened to me consistently now, as I switch back and forth between my home Xbox One and the office Xbox One, but at least one player on Reddit has noted that it's happened to them on a PS4, too.

My Xbox One certainly attempts to make the sync when I load up the game from a different console than the last I'd played it on, but my progress—including my level, attained perks, and unlocked characters—get totally wiped clean. Frustrating! In the interim you can always use an external hard drive to physically transfer all the data over, but who wants to do that? Developers Turtle Rock Studios are aware of the issue and say they are working on a fix, but I've reached out for the official word and will update as soon as I learn more

Microsoft makes a big deal about how the Xbox One lets you watch live TV directly through the console. Just plug your cable box into the HDMI In slot, they say, and you can view the full channel guide and schedule your DVR without ever switching inputs. You can even change channels with voice commands (if you have Kinect) and “Snap” the video to the side of the screen while you play a game.

Unfortunately, Microsoft hasn't given much love to cord cutters, at least in the United States. The console itself lacks an RF antenna input, and while users in Europe can buy an official Xbox One TV tuner, that device won't work for U.S. broadcasts—and there's no word on whether we'll see a proper U.S. version.

There is, however, a workaround: Reading through some recent posts in Reddit's cord-cutters forum, I discovered a $35 box called the MediaSonic HomeWorx HW180STB.

xboxoneguideantenna-100567903-large.jpg

The HomeWorx HW180STB is both an analog-to-digital converter and an over-the-air tuner for U.S. ATSC broadcasts. Equally important, it has an HDMI output that can be connected to an Xbox One, enabling most of the gaming console's TV features.
Here's what you need:

  • MediaSonic HomeWorx HW180STB (Amazon has it for $35)
  • Two AAA batteries
  • A TV antenna (This $12 amplified one works for me; TVFool can help you figure out what range antenna you need.)
  • An extra HDMI cable
  • Either Kinect or some IR extension cables (any off-the-shelf ones with a 3.5mm jack should suffice.)
Setting up the box

Before connecting the MediaSonic box to your Xbox One, you'll first want to plug it directly into your television via HDMI. You should also plug your TV antenna into the box's RF In jack before before powering the box on.
MediaSonic's remote control doesn't come with batteries, so you'll need to supply your own, at least to get through setup. From the setup screen, scroll to the “Channel Search” option and hit OK. Wait a few minutes while the box scans for over-the-air channels.

Once the scanning is done and you have live TV coming through, unplug the HDMI cable from your television and plug it into the HDMI In jack on the back of the Xbox One. The cable should run from the MediaSonic box to the game console, and a second HDMI cable should run from the Xbox One's HDMI Out jack to to your TV.

Fine-tuning the Xbox One

Turn on the Xbox One, press your controller's start button (the one with three horizontal lines) and go to Settings and then to TV & OneGuide (under the Console section). You'll land on the Device control menu, where you should select “Cable or satellite box.” Don't worry about MediaSonic's status as a lowly DTV converter; you should still select “Cable or satellite box setup” from the next screen.

Type in "Mediasonic" when the console asks what brand your box is. At the next screen, choose the manual “Enter it” option instead of guided setup.

Type in “HW” and hit enter. A sidebar menu should appear, from which you can select “HW180STB (new version)." This allows your Xbox controller to communicate with the MediaSonic box, either through Kinect or your IR extension cables.

All that's left is to set up the programming guide. Head back to the TV & OneGuide menu, select “OneGuide,” and then “TV lineup. Choose “Antenna” from the sidebar menu and enter your zip code.

And that's it! You can now watch live, over-the-air programming through the Xbox One's TV app. With Kinect or IR extension cables plugged into the back of the console, you can change channels with the Xbox controller instead of the Mediasonic remote. Kinect users can also use voice commands, such as “Xbox, watch ABC.” Who knew watching TV with rabbit ears could be so futuristic?

If you have an external hard drive hooked up to the MediaSonic box, you can also pause and resume live video through the Xbox interface, though I had trouble getting playback to run smoothly. MediaSonic also offers DVR scheduling for over-the-air programs, but you must use MediaSonic's clunky remote control and built-in interface for that.

Is there any reason to hold out for an official TV tuner from Microsoft? Not really, unless you believe Microsoft can deliver SmartGlass video playback on phones and tablets, like it does in Europe. To bring that feature stateside, Microsoft needs to grapple with content-licensing issues, and I'm skeptical that'll happen anytime soon.

In the meantime, MediaSonic's box offers nearly all the same features for cheap. It's worth considering if you've cut the cord and feel like you've been missing out on the full Xbox One experience.

Far Cry 4 $29.99

Amazon

Price match this at Target and then use the 30% off Cartwheel coupon to get the game for $21.
From past discussions best way to make this happen is to have another small item in your hand, price match discussion on the way to electronics counter, give second item, then use Cartwheel coupon without saying it is for game. I have made it work this way in the past a few times. Cartwheel coupon expires tomorrow in case you miss this deal.
