WWE Royal Rumble PPV : official thread- results + links inside

While they're full of shit calling this "the most star studded Royal Rumble ever" (92, easily), at least they gave us some new matches with Taker/Mysterio and Sheamus/Orton. Too bad the tag titles are meaningless because DX/Punk and Gallows could be good.

I think they mean relative to the era they were released. Sure, Flair & Hogan are bigger than ANYONE in this rumble, but relative big names/era ratio, the 2010 rumble has more big name current (for its time) players that entered than the 1992 one.

With that said, I have to say the 2010 rumble is easily among the 3 best ever (and this is coming from someone who isn't much of a fan of WWE's current product as a whole). I'd put it behind ONLY 2004 and the 1992 versions. There wasn't much slowdown, and nearly anyone that entered there could have won (something I can't say for most royal rumbles). All hate aside, this was a fantastic royal rumble.

Nigga you fucking high. This shit was TERRIBLE. My lil nephews hated this shit. 3rd best ever? This was mid-90's bad. WOW.

To each there own. I'm not just thinking about the high points of the match (even the horrible 1999 rumble had a point), but as a whole. Let's face it, most rumbles get bogged down a lot during the middle with more than half of the people who enter clearly having no chance of winning. That wasn't the case here. Although this rumble wasn't perfect (pretty obvious botch on Batista's part, for example), it is easily in the higher end of the rumbles if you break things down unbiasly (i.e. not just looking at things from the perspective of not being a fan of most people in the ring, your personal favorite wrestlers of all time not entering, the WWE is PG now so therefore they can't have good PPV anymore, etc).

Sorry if my opinion hurt your feelings. :smh:

Note: Just for clarification, I'm ONLY talking about the Royal Rumble match itself, NOT the PPV as a whole. To my count, there was only one good match outside of the rumble match (Rey/Undertaker). Taking the PPV as a whole, it's somewhere in the middle, with 2 matches saving the show and the booking not being as irritating as they could have been for the other matches.

The Royal Rumble 2004 was REALLY disappointing, for example, if you take the PPV as a whole (even the HBK/HHH match, after coming off a really great RAW matchup between those two, ended up being weak for some reason). But the Royal Rumble match itself was easily one of the best.

ATLANTA TO HOST WRESTLEMANIA® XXVII

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ATLANTA, GA – February 1, 2010 -- The Atlanta Sports Council, Georgia World Congress Center Authority and World Wrestling Entertainment® are proud to announce that the Georgia Dome will host WrestleMania XXVII on Sunday, April 3, 2011.

The announcement was made at a press conference today at the Georgia Dome. The Honorable Mayor Kasim Reed, Atlanta Sports Council President Gary Stokan, Commissioner, Georgia Department of Economic Development Ken Stewart and Atlanta Falcons President Rich McKay joined WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon in making the announcement. WWE Superstars John Cena®, Batista®, Big Show®, Rey Mysterio®, Mark Henry™ and WWE Divas Kelly Kelly® and Eve™ were also on hand for the announcement.

“Atlanta has a long-standing reputation of hosting the highest level of sports and entertainment events and adding WrestleMania XXVII to the list is a major coup for our great city," said The Honorable Kasim Reed, Mayor of Atlanta. "We've built our reputation on over-delivering for such prestigious events like the Olympics, Super Bowls
, NCAA Final Fours and All Star Games. WrestleMania will further showcase Atlanta as one of the leading sports and entertainment capitals of the world and will bring substantial economic impact to Atlanta and the state of Georgia."

“We are thrilled to bring the biggest sports entertainment event in the world for the first time to the city of Atlanta in 2011. The enthusiasm of the sellout crowd at last night’s Royal Rumble® was just a small sample of what to expect when WrestleMania XXVII takes over Atlanta,” said Vince McMahon, WWE Chairman and CEO. “We look forward to focusing the eyes of the world onto the great city of Atlanta and making history at the Georgia Dome.”

Visitors from around the world are expected to converge on Atlanta and participate in a week-long series of events that will culminate with the annual pop culture extravaganza, WrestleMania XXVII. Among the activities will be the 2011 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, WrestleMania Axxess, WrestleMania Art auction and a Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament. The pay-per-view event will be televised to more than 100 countries. Last year’s 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania and the events surrounding it pumped nearly $50 million into the local Houston economy, as 72,744 fans converged on Reliant Stadium for the event.

The Georgia Dome is no stranger to hosting major sports events such as Super Bowl XXXIV and XXVIII, NCAA Men’s and Women’s Final Four, the SEC Football Championship and Chick-fil-A Bowl, along with major entertainment events such as U2, Rolling Stones and NSYNC.
