TP has another number 1 movie at the box office. So obviously his movies are not lacking in quality. Just because you don't like his movies should not be a reason to knock TP. Let's assume for 2 seconds you're actually serious here. That you really made a parallel between The Wire and Tyler Perry's tragic attempts at cinema.

Each season of The Wire showed different decaying segments of a city. If you've ever watched The Wire, you'd know it's not about drug dealing, it's about the death of Baltimore and how drugs, the police, politicians and other have played a hand in it. Season 1 actually put a face on drug dealers. Proved that no matter how much America wants to paint drug dealers as monsters, circumstances lead young people to the corner. Season 2 showed how the drugs got into the country, and to the streets. Painted a much broader view of drugs as not just a blacks on a corner issue. Season 4 was almost entirely dedicated to the shitty public school education system and how it leads to apathy and hopelessness. Season 5 showed the decaying of the inner city newspaper system among other things. As one writer put it:

The Wire has echoes of the Victorian social panorama of Charles Dickens (who gets a mention this season, as an obscene anatomical reference). The drama repeatedly cuts from the top of Baltimore's social structure to its bottom, from political fund-raisers in the white suburbs to the subterranean squat of a homeless junkie. I can name quite a few great actors who got their starts in Spike Lee movies. Just name me ONE. I'll wait.
