Why are Black people still Christian?

Generations have changed, people are changing and also religion is changing with each new generation.

How people believe in a God but never read a bible,Quran,Hebrew bible or any of that and haven't stepped one foot into a place of worship.

But I will never say anything bad about religion because I've had to believe in it at some point in my life and I can't and wont take that away from anyone else....

But things have changed cause a motherfucker will fight, stab, shoot and kill you in the name of Jesus and that's just what it is.

After almost 500yrs of programming by our oppressors...on every level of our conscious/sub-conscious..most of us are still essentially slaves.

I have zero problems with anyone thinking this way, to quote Rick and Morty " I'm just a dumb ass bug" God and the creation of the universe is way above my pay grade lol what I do know is that man made religions and it's believers are b.s.
I think deep down many pastors know that they are scamming; it's a hustle for many of them. There are just a few that believe in the altruism of religion.

i've never understood why we adopted a religion that white folks would go to worship after they've just hung 3 of us off a tree. but i come to accept it cause all the shit our people been through..... that might have been that constant that got them through. so just like the pilgrims who came here because of their religious oppression turned and did exact same thing with christianity . just gives me a headache some times. anyway close to 30 years i've realized i'm way more a spiritual person as opposed to a religious one. wayyyy too many religions out here in the world and a lot of the people who represents them keeps a lot of us divided

I don’t understand why y’all can’t refute that we are the Hebrew Israelites of the Bible that fullfiled the prophecy of Deu 28:68…if we gone talk about it then we gone talk about it.

This Bible has led every slave revolt in America.

People will say they believe in God, but aren't religious or that they are "spiritual".

I've told this story before. Bishop Luther Blackwell of Cleveland's mega church on Scranton had the church do a fundraiser so he can send he and his wife to Africa for their 30th anniversary.

When not enough money was raised he said and I quote, "You want your man of God to fly COACH?" And those people donated more money so he and his wife could go first class, likely when they have never even flown first class. Fuck Church, and fuck the Mind controlling institution of church
So you use one incident to say "Fuck Church"? That's stupidity on their part. I would tell them "Yes, you fly coach and why do you have to go to Africa for your 30th wedding anniversary. We pay you a good salary and you can't pay for it out of your own pocket? How does this benefit the parishioners?"

Man I got to tell you about this church in NE DC. This was a few years ago when one of my boys graduated from theology school at Howard. He was a guest speaker at the church off east capital right around the corner from RFK.
This was the first time I had ever been to a church where they took up 5 collections. I can’t not make this shit up. There were 4 collections for just random shit and the 5th collection was to get a gift for the pastor’s anniversary. The deacon actually asked everyone to give $100 and if you didn’t have it we can set you up on a payment plan. I said WTF?

The DMV is also the only place I’ve been on the east coast where church’s have ATMs at the front entrance. Now for some people that may not seem like a lot, but it’s almost like they low key trying to say don’t come up in here broke.

There are some solid church’s though. I found a good church in Mo County that wasnt on that bs and did a lot for the youth - college fairs, boy Scott’s, girls scouts, young men of passage program, and had a nurse practitioner on site a few days a week for people to get healthcare.

Church’s can do more, but I think they are needed from the standpoint of things like building presentation skills when kids have to present on youth Sunday or learning how to sing from being on the choir, or learning how to play an instrument. These are invaluable skills IMO.

I will say between the church I was going to in Mo County and Union Temple in SE DC these were the first church’s I’ve ever gone to where the pastors spoke from Afrocentric point of view of the Bible.
I believe there are a few churches in Atlanta like this. I haven't been inside but I've heard from a few people that Creflo Dollar's church is like this.

Dude, I gave one example. I could give more. The amount of beamers and benz's seen in church parking lots driven by pastors without number the amount of times it was said in the Lost Boyz song. Inherently dirty doesn't even cover it. I've seen Trump administration officials that I trust more than Mega church pastors... And most of the parishioners don't care.

I asked my mother one time if she found out that the pastor was stealing from the church and funding his own pockets if she would stop giving tithes, and she said no. "That's between him and God," she said.

Nah. I'm different. I don't have a problem with helping the homeless, but I'll be damned if I'll help a crackhead get more crack if I'm the one giving them the money to buy crack.

Bishop Luther Blackwell is a crook, but he's not the biggest or the only one. A friend of mine is a pastor who used to work under him who would attest to this.

This is what church is in America. Black people learn from white people how to run a scams, and the flock will intentionally give the pastor their own flight feathers even if it grounds them... I've never been that gullible

:WADR to your mom, "Thats between him and God" is the wrong mentality to have. For me, I would change my membership if I found out my pastor was doing this. That's just me though. We all sin and come short of the glory of God, but come on now. Same thing with a pastor that is repeatedly cheating on his wife and getting up to preach every Sunday.

I agree, that's the wrong mentality to have, but that and other things is just a few example of why me and my mom rarely talk because we don't see eye to eye on a goddamn thing

Why is anybody?

I'll let someone who writes much better than I to crack it open. I give you Mark Twain, an excerpt from The Mysterious Stranger.

...a God who could make good children as easily as bad, yet preferred to make bad ones; who could have made every one of them happy, yet never made a single happy one; who made them prize their bitter life, yet stingily cut it short; who gave his angels eternal happiness unearned, yet required his other children to earn it; who gave his angels painless lives, yet cursed his other children with biting miseries and maladies of mind and body; who mouths justice and invented hell--mouths mercy and invented hell--mouths Golden Rules, and forgiveness multiplied by seventy times seven, and invented hell; who mouths morals to other people and has none himself; who frowns upon crimes, yet commits them all; who created man without invitation, then tries to shuffle the responsibility for man's acts upon man, instead of honorably placing it where it belongs, upon himself; and finally, with altogether divine obtuseness, invites this poor, abused slave to worship him!...

Now who in their right mind would board that train?

The bible has been used to ENSLAVE people around the world, and to commit the greatest genocide in human history.

The programming is strong in this one.

I grew up on Detroit's East Side, many moons ago, post 67 riots.

The neighborhood was bad. Most of the adults in my neighborhood were involved in criminal activity.

Even as a very young child, I noticed how many of the gangsters, thieves and junkies, after a stint in prison, decided to found churches and walk around preaching after their release.

What's the difference between a preacher and a pimp?

The preacher generally wears better clothes.

Imma pray to Colin Powell for the strength to read all that shit.

If anyone wants to read what is actually written in "The Bible", I suggest you get a bible translated directly from Amharic to English. The bibles we have been taught from were translated from Amharic to Greek to Latin to English. A more direct translation is free of dogma interpolated into the scriptures we are commonly exposed to.

No need. It's a collection of parables. While there MAY be some legit actually happened shit in there, It's packaged with 1350 lbs of shit in a 5 lb. bag, So it's impossible to make out the real versus the bullshit.

Add to it, we have all played the telephone game. These events supposedly occurred over centuries before the shit was written down. In the telephone game, a speech couldn't get from one side of the classroom to another without being completely changed, that's over a 40 minute period and 30 to 35 students. You want me to believe that nothing at all was changed over 100 years and different people looking it over wanting their particular point of view or spin on it?

I would believe someone from Trump's cabinet before I would believe the Bible.

End of the day, it doesn't matter. You believe what you want to believe and what you eat don't make me shit. I strive to be a good person, and other than trolling Charlie Kirk supporters which may or may not be wrong, I just drove down to Cincinnati last night and spent the evening thru after with my friend on a Suicide Walk for her son who committed suicide 3 years ago.

Jesus might be real, he may be completely fabricated. There may be no Adam or Eve. Who knows, who cares. If you want to believe it, fine. That's up to you. I don't and never will and it doesn't matter to you. There is no need to attempt to convince me of this because You've got as much proof that these events really occurred as I have that it didn't.

No it hasn’t. The Bible was misquoted to keep you from understanding it. Which obviously it worked well. You can not enslave someone with a book. When they came and took us into cargo slave ships did they read us the book and we just went in? Or were we physical forced?

This book tells you exactly what’s going on in the world today to a T. There are no parables. uFO’s is not a parable. Martial law is not a parable. The mark of the beast is not a parable. The rise of homosexuality and lawlessness is not a parable. America being destroyed is not a parable.

Meanwhile satanism was and still is being used to sacrifice humans, to murder, rape, torture and no one has an issue with it.

Always remember there is a big lie right in the middle of the word beLIEve. BeLIEve What you want, dude. If you want to believe that shit's real, go right ahead, because what you eat doesn't make me shit, but I believe that entire book is bunk

The most important and influential empires to rule the world all of them are mentioned only in 1 book. That is the Bible.

The Egyptians, Babylon empire, Assyrian empire, Persian empire, Greek empire, Roman Empire.

You can cross out the Assyrian empire cuz it was kinda like the same and patterned after the Babylonian empire, but these are the only empires to ever exist that had power over the known world.

No other book mentions all these empires. These empires are so big and influential that it is impossible to say that they didn’t exist.

To say the Bible is fake is like saying the encyclopedia is fake. You have to account for too much world history to say the Bible is fake.

I told y'all about the church in Atlanta, where the congregation pooled their money to buy the preacher a Caddy for his birthday. After they gave it to him, he had his wife stand up and tell them that he was thankful, but he had his heart set on a Jag. At the end of the service, there was a long of people waiting to apologize to him.

Man that’s crazy.

Money could’ve been used to pay a few students college tuition for the semester or something more valuable.

The thing is, I couldn't care less how many people are praising and lauding and following this bullshit ass book. I know it's bullshit, and nothing you say is going to change it in my mind. So go ahead, worship your little Make believe book full of fables

In this book, God told Abraham to kill his son because he thought that Abraham loved his son more than Abraham loved God. And Abraham's dumbass was going to do it before God sent a messenger telling Abraham to chill and not do it, he just wanted to see if Abraham was going to do it or not.

Fuck that book. I don't give a goddamn. If that's what God want me to do, then that's the wrong God. And fuck anybody trying to tell me to follow some shit like that where a God would do something like that

Imagine trying to get into heaven knowing that you played God’s lil homie and didn’t get him the British Yugo that he wanted.

The Bible (which one?) is a collection of stories that has been written, rewritten, significantly edited, and purported to be the word of the Deity just because someone says it is. That ain't good enough for me, especially when the people who presented us with the stories hail from the Middle East and Europe. I don't trust either regions nor the peoples therefrom.

I don't argue with people like you any longer. Saves me a great deal of stress.

I realized long ago that extreme religious devotion, especially to a religion so patriarchal, violent, and haphazardly assembled and reassembled(King James "version"?) as the abrahamic religions (three versions of the same woman despising religion) suffer from a form of mental illness.

As for slave ships, my father's people didn't come here on a damned slave ship. They were here countless centuries before white folks and their religions imposed themselves upon us. Perhaps that I why I think a bit differently. However, they married African Americans, and both Indians and Negros have a SERIOUS holy rollin' habit. Two peoples, fucked over by the white man, who will defend to the death the religion that same white man imposed upon them. I don't get it.

ANY religion that POUNDS into a person's head that he is BORN a worthless, hell bound piece of shit because he has not given his soul to someone that ARABS/SEMITES/WHITE FOLKS or whomever insist is the son of the Deity is faulty in my opinion.

I also have a problem with the "love thy enemy" bullshit. I may not hate my enemies, but I damned sure don't love the fuckers. I propose it is a hallmark of enslavement, of the mind and spirit, to convince a man that he should love the man who takes turns raping his daughter and his wife on a weekly basis, and sells his other children to plantations down the way.

I also have issues with the inherent patriarchy. The peaceful tribes in what is now the Americas were often matriarchal. Testosterone got us so many invasions in the modern era it is hard to keep count.

Anyway, I won't go back and forth with you, because you, in my view, epitomize the problem with African Americans.

I once drove down Mack Avenue in Detroit, from Woodward, which is essentially the main street, to Grosse Pointe. I decided to count the number of churches. I lost count very quickly.

There are churches that have build brand new churches across the street. There is the mansion looking church in Indian VIllage, a neighborhood of historic homes

There were intersections where almost, if not all, corners were inhabited by a Christian church.

The whole damned community has relied completely on welfare, social security disability or both (and of course crime), and has the highest child poverty level outside Mississippi. But somehow, the people manage to afford to build, rebuild, gut, and rebuild churches all over the goddamned place.

The ability to commit genocide because someone told you a book says it is OK is significant of a slave mentality, as is the ability to break bread with the man who raped your daughter and your wife.

It is significant of a slave mentality to love people who are hell bent on your destruction.

The worst part is people like you, who seem to think common sense is a form a brainwashing.

NO, I will not argue with you. I have a passport, quite literally, to get away from people who think like you.

Cheers.

It makes one wonder: what kind of god plays fucked up mind games like playing chicken with the life of a (riteous!) man's son?

What kind of god sentences one to ETERNAL hellfire because he chocked his chicken while thinking about the chick working at the library?

What kind of god insists you spend half your fucking time prasing "him" (if I am a god, and male, first thing I am creating is GODDESS)? This is significant of a serious inferioirity complex.

I could go on. But why?

I could re-write any book and edit any book. I could rewrite cat in the hat if I wanted to.

But could I re-write every copy of Harry Potter that ever existed? If every copy of the Bible was re-written & all the previous bibles were destroyed then you have a point.

But why does the oldest copy of the Bible sound exactly like the KJV? The Dead Sea scrolls….what was changed please let’s start there
