I think I know what church you're talking about over near RFK. I used to go to Union Temple off & on for awhile and I'd go to First Baptist Church of Glenarden (mainly because my dad flew with Jenkins, so he'd go from time to time to have breakfast with him). FBCG is almost like going to the damn club tho, there are some fine assed women in there..lol

Glenarden is the first church I would tell a young cat to attend if they just moved to the area. Lol

I don't know about reality show. More like science fiction.

Alien overlords from the planet Heaven use advanced cloning techniques to create a servant class for one of their colonies. At first the science looked good.

But there were two serious flawss.

The aliens were telepathic empaths, but they had trouble developing this ability in their servants. The few that could be reached through dreams and visions were instructed to write books and broadcast their orders to the rest.

The second was imparting free will. The aliens thought that it would allow their creations to serve them on a higher level through choice rather than blind obedience. However it also gave them the ability to rebel and disobey. The messengers alone couldn't handle it.

So the aliens use their advanced weather system to create natural disasters. Attacked their servants with bioweapons spreading plague. Used supersonic trumpets to destroy city walls. Shifted tectonic plates to literally swallow their wayward creations into the Earth.

But it didn't work. The aliens needed a different approach.

By this time their genetic research had discovered a way to artificially inseminate their creations. The head scientist placed his specimen aboard Gabriel 1 and implanted it in a young Middle Eastern woman.

Instead of frightening their servants through vulgar displays of power they used this alien seed to make servitude a virtue. However it was such a radical departure from the aliens usual communication style the servants got angry and put him to death.

However, much like Obi-Wan Kenobi, the seed grew more powerful in death. His transformation allowed him to communicate telepathically with every servant who called upon his name.

I don't believe he's speaking to the text as much as the overall ideal. A lot of the principles are meant to make safe communities. A focus on the group as opposed to the individual or their desires.For some, rule of man isn't enough. Most don't want to accept that their life is limited. The idea of punishment in the afterlife is supposed to keep those people in check.

The reality is it isn't very effective especially in our time where most things can be explained through science. Worse, it becomes a tool for those in power to abuse.

I agree that Black people shouldn't practice any religion and it's likely done more harm than good. For example, if you think all magically being will save you or he's somehow will do right by you in the afterlife, you aren't likely to make logical decisions that could change your life for the better. Basically we should be Humanists or at best Agnostic. Instead of wasting time in churches, the focus should be a blend of science (heavy) and philosophy.

Personally, my stance is I don't know or care if God(s) exist. Humans should concern themselves with the mortal realm. I also don't think most people in the US are truly religious. People are just programmed from a young age and made to feel ashamed to say otherwise.

I always find it funny that once someone figures out im not religious they start to feel uncomfortable and try to force their beliefs on me. Offering to take you to church or show how you just went to the wrong church or religion. As a non-believer, I've never felt the need to do these types of things or disrespect religious people for their beliefs. I normally try to avoid the discussion unless im directly asked. Its just annoying to have people try to convert you or worse try to scare you into believing.
