Whovians!!!

Between about 1964 and 1973, large amounts of older material stored in the BBC's various video tape and film libraries were either destroyed,[note 3] wiped, or suffered from poor storage which led to severe deterioration from broadcast quality. This included many old episodes of Doctor Who, mostly stories featuring the first two Doctors: William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton. In all, 97 of 253 episodes produced during the first six years of the programme are not held in the BBC's archives (most notably seasons 3, 4, & 5, from which 79 episodes are missing). In 1972, almost all episodes then made were known to exist at the BBC,[67] while by 1978 the practice of wiping tapes and destroying "spare" film copies had been brought to a stop.[68]

No 1960s episodes exist on their original videotapes (all surviving prints being film transfers), though some were transferred to film for editing before transmission, and exist in their broadcast form.[69]
damn...

good post

If you missed the prequel last night I don't think BBCA is showing it again. It's out on Dailymotion but if you want to dl it I think most of the world missed it.

Moving on to the episode...I'm not one to give out spoilers but if you never saw the 4th's adventure on Skarro when the ****** were **** you have a few hours to research and catch up.

And here I as thinking that Moffat couldn't bring back old plots to tie up loose ends. (Those of you who are impatient might want to wait until next week to watch both episodes together.)

:)

Oh, you're going to get more of her...

You so fine

You so fine you blow my mind
you have a link?

Witch's Familiar:
Missy is hilarious. She's a cold bitch, but she's hilarious.
I hope she tags along after Clara's gone, but she needs someone to play off of other than the Doctor.

Doc went all hi-tech on em, like "screwdriver? we don't need no stinking screwdriver!"

Why Peter Capaldi Said No To Extra Doctor Who

It seems like eons pass in between series of Doctor Who. As with many shows which only run 10 or so episodes in a season, they’re over so quickly, and then there’s another year or more of wait before the show comes back. It turns out that the BBC would love to see more Doctor Who as much as fans would. However, the cast and crew, led by Peter Capaldi himself, have said no to requests for more episodes. The reason, according to Capaldi, is that while they could make more episodes, what they couldn’t do is make more good episodes.

UK’s Mirror has Capaldi’s comments at the Radio Times Festival in London over this past weekend, where he took on the question of doing two series per year. The main issue? The man is tired.

We’ve been going since January 6 and the crew, who are wonderful, are exhausted. There reaches a point where you can’t drive people any harder; we do the best we can to produce our show to an immensely high quality. If you did it all year round there would be casualties; one of the casualties would be the quality of the show.

As Capaldi says, the production values of Doctor Who are fairly high, considering all the special effects used. While this fact is more than a little humorous considering the lineage of the series - classic Who episodes from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s include some comically bad effects - it’s nonetheless true. While one would expect the BBC would be willing to shell out the cash for another series at the same level, the show is ultimately put together by people. If it does take them most of a year to put those 12 or so episodes together, they likely wouldn’t be able to get a second series out in the same year without cutting some corners. Of course, the other problem with producing a second series in a single year is that Steven Moffat might not even be able to, as he has other responsibilities as well, such as Sherlock.

Doctor Who has never been a series that hits home runs with every episode as it is. As much as we’d love to see more of The Doctor, the idea that we would get more of those terrible episodes (and we know that we would) is scary. Nothing is more terrifying than more "Night Terrors" or "Fear Her".

British television has always been more focused on telling a good story than providing a certain number of episodes. Since the relaunch, Doctor Who has always hovered around 12 episodes a season, though they’ve occasionally had more or fewer as the story demanded it. The very early days of Who did many more episodes in a season, though it should be pointed out that they were half-hour episodes back then.

What do you think? Are you happy with Doctor Who as it is, or would you rather they put more episodes out each year? While we might get a few more weak episodes, we’d almost certainly get more great episodes as well.

It would be nice to have more episodes but I see his point. Probably the same deal with Orphan Black.

I'm still catching up on the series. Did they ever say hoe the cracks formed across the universe? I know that The Doctor's enemies blamed him for all the cracks.

Oh and what's up with these dumb ass sonic shades. My co worker told me about them the other day. I didn't believe her.

I think the cracks had something to do with Pandorica opens when the Tardis exploded

I like the shades it's different. It does take away from the dramatics when he would whip out the screw driver tho [emoji38]

i don't like it... it's corny (damn i hate that word) but it is

Moffat changed it he never liked the screw driver

I think they have decided to make the Doctor appeal to the younger crowd by looking cool. Every time you look around he is playing a electric guitar or whatever instrument it is. David Tennant and Matt Smith were very young Doctors compared to the new Doctor.

the episode w/ Maisie(Arya Stark)Williams is this saturday..they way how they hyping it i bet this wont be the only time we see her on the show

Yep, I hope he doesn't start rapping or talking in slang. :) I would prefer if the writer(s) would stop making the Doctor seem confused or unsure about who he is. I just want to see him explore new worlds and dimensions.

Allons-y to the exciting world of audio! Donna Noble might have had her memory wiped at the end of her tenure as the Tenth Doctor's feisty companion, but that's not stopping Catherine Tate and David Tennant from reuniting once again in the Who-niverse for another rendezvous. As announced today by Big Finish, Tennant will be returning as the Tenth Doctor, and Tate as Noble, in a series of three audio dramas for the company. The specials will be released simultaneously in May 2016, and all feature different and unique plots: Doctor Who – The Tenth Doctor Adventures: Technophobia is set in near-future London, when mankind starts to lose its ability to use technology; Doctor Who – The Tenth Doctor Adventures: Time Reaver centers around a scoundrel-ridden mechanical planet; and Doctor Who – The Tenth Doctor Adventures: Death and the Queen finds the lovestruck Noble in the unknown and mysterious land of Goritania. If history repeats itself, we're expecting a lot of classic Doctor-Donna banter. And running. Lots of running.

Big Finish also released a video to coincide with the announcement

Damn I was excited for a minute when they introduced this new sista.

I really have to stop reading articles about top companions, episodes, moments of Doctor Who. First Jack being the Face Of Boe gets spoiled from an article. Then about a month I fucked up about reading a article that spoiled River's identity.:smh:
I watched the Demon Run's episode over the weekend like well I knew that was coming.:smh:

Worst Season ever

I wouldnt say worst. I would say the freakiest and craziest. Real deal the doctor got older and turned into this one. I feel like these are loose ends he is tidying up. Stuff you have to go back years to look at to understand what is really going on now. BBC America plays the old joints all the time and the old Doctor seems like its close to the this doctor.

Spoiler Alert! If you haven't watched the episode from last night then do not scroll down.;)

I can't believe what the writers did to Clara. That was messed up. I really liked her. The previous episodes were setting up as if she was going to die though. I didn't appreciate how the angels took Amy and Rory, but I really didn't care too much for that duo anyway. Clara was one of my favorites. I guess she shouldn't have quit the show.:smh::smh: Now, it seems the Doctor might be getting a brother as his new companion, but we will see.

Also, the girl from Game of Thrones always bring trouble with her characters. She needs to leave Doctor Who.

yea when i heard the woman playing clara was leaving the show, i knew it was only a matter of time before she was axed. didn't expect it in this ep tho

this season sucks. If they had let the Doctor kill the Dalek while Clara was in it or left her in it, that could have been such a great episode, but they had to fuck it up. It would have been a great explanation to why Clara was trapped in that Dalek the first time they met.

as to the 12th doctor who like him or not this is the first time a doctor has failed to grow on me not the actor but the doctor as written just ............:smh: and some of the stories this season were soooo good and some sooo bad "under the lake", "sleep no more" :smh::smh: wtf??? clara or not somebody please end this shit.

I'm not digging this season.
Every story was a two-parter and most weren't interesting enough for a single episode.
Ashildr is a straight-up bitch. The Doctor must have a really good reason for not placing some limits on this chick by now.
And I never liked Danny Pink, but it was fucked up how they let him go out like that. I was under the impression that they were going to find a way to help him out this season.
I'm thinking Jenna Coleman will have at least one more appearance this season. Maybe she shows up in the Christmas special?
And why has River Song been MIA for 2 years? She's the sexiest woman on this show. She's supposed to be in the Christmas special.

***And I like this Doctor, the character and the actor. But it just seems like he's a completely different entity from all the other incarnations. I mean it's been 2 years, and dude still comes off as an asshole more often than not. It was interesting at first, but now the fact that he doesn't know how to talk to people is getting annoying."***
