What unpopular opinions do you have? Hip-Hop/Rap edition

Respectfully I disagree

I'm not MAD Kai doesn't know who Wale is but as a major media personality in this so called hip hop culture these folks claim to want to keep saving?

Yes he SHOULD know who Wale is.
He would’ve been more recognizable if he was outside more

Out of sight out of mind when it comes to this industry

You can literally be forgotten tomorrow

Reality bars

Damn you not wrong but its still harsh.

* interesting though that I've noticed that of your a female rapper? And you "make it" it? Your ability to not only maintain a presence but to diversity not only your fan base but revenue opportunities is much higher as opposed to men. I guess its the diversification that leads to the wider longer presence in the public consciousness.

Am I wrong?

Because the men are missing out on an opportunity to be bigger than their counterparts

Think about what made the artists we look up to who they are

They all have the same thing in common

They made music for the ladies

The blueprint is simple women buy music and men tend to buy it cause their women like it

It’s why wale was major when he first hit

Lotus flower bomb was huge but he wanted more acknowledgment from men and killed his momentum

I don't want to start no sh*t

But I do not understand why your artists don't do EVERYTHING you tell them to do.

Happens more than you think

Remember we were talking about "ghost" producing etc?

That is what I still don't understand.

If a beat is hot? Its hot period.

I UNDERSTAND having a name like Swizz Dre Pharrell Timbo attached OBVIOUSLY is a big deal but its NOT a guarantee.

I think in the old days? seeing that producer name attached on a CD MEANT something.

But in the streaming age? not so much.

I think with your connections a HOT GREAT PRODUCER will get placement and doesn't need to SELL the beat

Unless the price is VERY high which I assume it wont be.

This new generation THINKS it knows EVERYTHING about the business including splits and residuals...

so why go through a big name when you can allegedly do it yourself?

From napster to ITunes to mergers to streaming...

Artists have never been able to unify

And allowed the industry tongetbf**ked and inevitably f**k them the worse

Dame is losing his mind but instead of hoping he is seeking help?

the world sees it as entertainment.

This is sad.

I watched a couple of these clips and figured out Dame's angle with this interview.

He's regularly discussing the benefits of setting up a family office (which is a real thing and potentially very beneficial to people with a decent amount of money) as a way of first trying to dismiss or deflect from the fact that he's clearly fucked off a significant amount of money which put him in this situation.

He's essentially saying I'm not broke I just appear broke to haters and lesser intelligent individuals who can't understand I'm throwing all my money into a family office to take care of my family which is my only priority and flossing/buying expensive shit is now corny since I can't do it.

Essentially the Pee Wee Herman "I meant to do that" defense.

In reality he's telling all if that because he's clearly bothered by the fact that he's in debt, is facing the prospect of losing a lot of his assets, and most importantly everyone knows this is the case.

Sad thing is him revealing all this could make the job of a forensic accountant a lot easier.

Lastly, Dame was venting in the clips I saw that people were saying he needed financial help and that Jay or others should send him money if they're worried.

The problem is that in previous interviews Dame himself was the one who was saying if people see him fucked up or think he is they should look out by sending him something

Why they surprised?

I told all them when I say his face he was the enemy...

But the white man water is always better

Their opinions their validation is always more cherished.

I fuck with Little Simz though, if that counts.

Just listening to her episode on Song Exploder as I type this ...
