I have noticed that when Masons are asked questions about anything, they clam up like it's something top secret. What if I was considering becoming a Mason. No disrespect, but who would join the Army, Jehovah's Witnesses or any other religion, a frat or even a street gang without knowing "something" about them first? My boy that grew up with me became a Mason and the main change that I saw in him was conceit. He was the same deadbeat Dad to his daughter, couldn't keep a job, and ended up getting locked up. All the while he was on this "I'm a Mason" "untouchable" type stuff. I respect them as an international brotherhood just like many others, but there's got to be more to it than that. I know the Masons don't "need" our respect, but you're a man before a Mason which makes you no better than the next man. Let the clownin' begin please and try to keep it on a masonic maturity level.

Not always true.. You can also be "born into" Masonic orders - growing up as either a junior Mason or junior Eastern Star. You can also marry into the orders.
Or you can just have homeboys in it that want you get you in it too. Seen it plenty of times when I was in college.

What "Final Phase" are you speaking of? Why do you ask? How "Do you know" ? If a "Mason" told you he was "riding a donkey" during his final phase I would question his motives and check myself for imperfections.
You be real brotha. There's lots of organizations out there that are not benefitted by everyone. Most are private, respected, honored and have a long Tradition & history. This forum is not the place to ask questions. That's what I mean when I say show respect.

Now aint no way on Gods green earth you are going to give up any of that info without knowing who is going to have it and what they are going to do with it. As in frats, masonry is supposed to make good men better. But, like a frat, if you're an asshole before, then chances are you will be the same asshole afterwards. Ideally, the processes and ideals should motivate you to become better but this is no pancea for being a jackass if you yourself don't want to change. It all about perfecting yourself to become the best that you can be. Funny thing is, none of us need an organiztion to do this. Just live righteous and it should come naturally. There's not too much I've learned in my travels that I couldn't have learned on my own. Onwards and Upwards

We are a fraternal organization that helps good men become better men. As a fraternal order we assist poor people, widows and orphans. We provide burial rituals almost as good as a military funeral and we try to carry ourselves in a professional manner.

If you are a good brother seek them out. Be prepared to be interviewed, etc. Some lodges, mines includes, are very particular about who can join.
