What do Masons mean by "riding the donkey?"

 :roflmao:  :roflmao:  :roflmao:  :roflmao:  :roflmao:

Here too, I've wanted to be a Freemason since I was about 14 years old. My aunt married a Freemason about 3 years ago. I've sat with him and talked for a few, but when shit starts getting interesting, he tells me "I can't say any more, or you'll know too much. If you were one, we could talk about it..." type of stuff.

Case in point...

I found a gold ring one day in the gutter walking around in my neighborhood that had the Masonic symbol on it, I told him about it, and he said "Don't wear that ring out in public!!!" When I asked him why, he told me "just DON'T :hmm: "

He told me that if someone (another member)saw me with it on, and I wasn't supposed to have it on, that he had the right to take it from me. Right off my muhfuckin finger.

Now, I asked him "why is that?"

Guess what his answer was...

"If you were a Mason, you'd know why."

I just looked at him like :hmm:

yea yo, they can take the shit, anything with a mason sign ... and if u got sumthin with a sign, they will test u to see if u are a mason and if ur not, they will take it from u .... they wont hurt u or nuthin, they will ask u nicely to run it ... but if u act funny, they will get tough ... that one of the reasons why i would love to join, cuz their brother hood and loyalty to each other is tight .... i would say tighter then family ...but like i said, i kno nuthin about it. ...

Incorrect Sir 2b1ASk1...you are not choosen you do it by choice...of your own free will...Im going to leave it at that Travel Light Brethren

We are a fraternal organization that helps good men become better men. As a fraternal order we assist poor people, widows and orphans. We provide burial rituals almost as good as a military funeral and we try to carry ourselves in a professional manner.

My brothers include Booker T. Washington, W.E.B Dubois, Scottie Pippen, Kweisi Mfume, Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton, Medger Evers, Thurgood Marshall, Nat King Cole and many others.

If you are a good brother seek them out. Be prepared to be interviewed, etc. Some lodges, mines includes, are very particular about who can join.

Gotta Co Sign with this..and add that my other brothers include...Dr. MLK Jr., Marcus Garvey, Louis Farrakan, Geroge Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Chris Tucker

Aiight let the exposure begin. This dude here is really full of shit. Aint NO GROWN MAN age 53 says your profile, gonna ask stupid shit like this.. HUH?? you sure?? last i heard " 2b1 you had to ask 1" I never "requested" a man to join, regardless of what he has accomplished in life.. Its his choice first.

First off, a MAN is not (should not) let another MAN take any thing from him. Secondly if a Mason saw another man in possession of the Compass and Square, and after speaking with him he found out that he was not of the CRAFT, then he would/should simply inform that Man that he should not be in possession of such items because he leads other masons to believe that he is in fact one also (at first glance). As far as taking a ring from some one who is not a mason, thats silly.. So what he walks around frontin like he is a Mason. after a few questions he will look like an ass. There are men who front like masons (and members of other organizations) all the time. You can get almost any type of information right off the net if you want to. I and all other true masons knows that there are alot of questions you can ask a person to see if they are in fact a mason, that you will NEVER see in a book or on the net.
Hey, let them front all they want .. That doesnt stop me from doing what it is that i do in the order.. lol "what you eat, dont make me sh*t!!!

Understand this gentlemen,
As in frats, masonry is supposed to make good men better. But, like a frat, if you're an asshole before, then chances are you will be the same asshole afterwards. Ideally, the processes and ideals should motivate you to become better but this is no pancea for being a jackass if you yourself don't want to change. It all about perfecting yourself to become the best that you can be. Funny thing is, none of us need an organiztion to do this. Just live righteous and it should come naturally. There's not too much I've learned in my travels that I couldn't have learned on my own. Onwards and Upwards

Some of the realest talk I've heard. I'm not really one for frats and "secret" organizations, but if all the brothas thought like this, I'd respect the organizations more and would possibly consider joining. (been approached a few times)

I'm not down with groups and organizations.:smh:

I actually had a friend I used to tell to shut up about that dumb ass shit unless you gettin money from it.

What is their biggest known accomplishment?

Thats a secret also.

This thread sux dix also.

And oh i wish anyone would try to take some shit from me on some above the law shit.

Hasn't happened since 10th grade.

bottom line, if you want to know something research it yourself. after that, if you are interested go find a brother and ASK ONE. No one will come look for you to bring you in. stand on your own 2 feet first.

where do you guys get this from??? :smh:

fuck u mean where i get it from? from a mason ... there may be more but i think he just told me 3 ....

if u cant support ur family, u cant afford to be a mason .... IF ur a mason, u know u pay dues and pay for books that u must study from.... Cant be under 21 .... and they want u to belive in some type of god ... if u never heard of any of those requirments then u must not be a mason

Good Looks Zeldar

I try to teach my young boys this before they go online, etc.

Its funny but I feel that as Black people on a whole, we tend to have a need to be apart of something greater. Sometimes these groups need to be elitist so that we can place ourselves above the rest of our lots. This is probably how many see us who are not in our circles. Then you have people who either are like I wanna get down too or fuck 'em, who needs them anyway.

ok this is what you originally wrote

1..first off the requirement are that you be a Man, free born (go figure)
2. of legal age - in some states its 21 and in some other states its 18, or 19 or 20.. again it depends on the state
3. well recommended - hence To Be One, Ask One
4. belief in a supreme being

so NOW you see why i asked where did you get your information from? For you to say what you said earlier, you DEFINATELY are not a Mason. But hey I will let you tell it!! lol Close, but no Cigar!!

I've always wondered if a lot of ppl try to join just to "help out their pockets"??? I know there are networking benefits that non members don't really have....Business etc..Have there ever been any homeless masons?
