Possible side effects of drinking Red Bull

Though Red Bull remains a popular beverage, research suggests that it may negatively affect your health.

Can increase blood pressure and heart rate
Blood pressure and heart rate are two important measures for heart health, as increased levels have been associated with a higher risk of hypertension (high blood pressure) and heart disease (4Trusted Source, 5Trusted Source).

Several studies in healthy adults have shown that drinking one 12-ounce (355-ml) can of Red Bull significantly increased blood pressure and heart rate levels within 90 minutes and up to 24 hours after consumption (6Trusted Source, 7Trusted Source, 8Trusted Source, 9Trusted Source).

These increases in heart rate and blood pressure are thought to be largely due Red Bull’s caffeine content, as one large 12-ounce (355-ml) can contains 108 mg of caffeine — about the same amount as a cup of coffee (2Trusted Source, 10Trusted Source, 11Trusted Source).

Despite these increases, moderate and occasional intake of Red Bull is unlikely to cause serious heart problems in healthy adults.

Still, excess intake — particularly in younger people — has been linked to abnormal heart rhythm, heart attack, and even death (11Trusted Source, 12, 13Trusted Source).

Additionally, while research is limited, drinking Red Bull could worsen heart health and be life-threatening in individuals with pre-existing high blood pressure or heart disease (11Trusted Source).

May increase type 2 diabetes risk
Excess sugar intake, especially from sweetened beverages, may increase your risk of type 2 diabetes (14Trusted Source).

In fact, a review in 310,819 adults found that drinking 1–2 servings of sugar-sweetened beverages per day was associated with a significant 26% increased risk of type 2 diabetes (14Trusted Source).

As Red Bull is sugar-sweetened — providing 29 grams of sugar in one 8.4-ounce (260-ml) serving — drinking one or more servings per day could increase your risk of type 2 diabetes (2Trusted Source).

May damage your teeth
Research indicates that drinking acidic beverages can damage tooth enamel, which is the hard outer coating that helps protect your teeth against decay (15Trusted Source).

Red Bull is an acidic beverage. As a result, regular intake may harm your tooth enamel (16Trusted Source).

One 5-day test-tube study found that exposing human tooth enamel to energy drinks for 15 minutes, 4 times a day resulted in significant and irreversible loss of tooth enamel (17Trusted Source).

Furthermore, the study noted that energy drinks were twice as harmful to tooth enamel than soft drinks (17Trusted Source).

May negatively affect kidney health
While occasionally drinking Red Bull is unlikely to have any serious effects on kidney health, research suggests that chronic and excessive intake could.

A 12-week study in rats found that chronic intake of Red Bull may cause a decline in kidney function. However, these results have not been replicated in human studies (18).

Additionally, research indicates a link between high sugar intake and an increased risk of chronic kidney disease (19Trusted Source, 20Trusted Source, 21Trusted Source).

As Red Bull is high in sugar, frequent and excessive intake may increase your risk.

May increase high-risk behavior
Research has shown an association between drinking Red Bull and increased high-risk behavior, especially when combined with alcohol (1Trusted Source).

When consumed together, caffeine in Red Bull can mask the effects of alcohol, making you feel less intoxicated while still experiencing alcohol-related impairments (22Trusted Source, 23Trusted Source, 24Trusted Source).

This effect can have serious consequences.

One study found that college-aged students who drank energy drinks and alcohol together were more likely to drink and drive and experience serious alcohol-related injuries than when alcohol was consumed alone (25Trusted Source).

Even when not paired with alcohol, observational studies indicate that in young adults, regular intake of energy drinks like Red Bull is linked to an increased risk of alcohol dependence and illicit drug use (22Trusted Source, 26Trusted Source, 27Trusted Source).

Of course, not everyone who drinks Red Bull will experience an increase in high-risk behaviors. Still, it’s important to be aware of the potential risks, especially in younger adults and when alcohol is involved.

May lead to caffeine overdose and possible toxicity
While safe doses of caffeine vary by individual, current research recommends limiting caffeine to 400 mg per day or less in healthy adults (28Trusted Source).

As one small 8.4-ounce (260-ml) can of Red Bull provides 75 mg of caffeine, drinking more than 5 cans per day could increase your risk of caffeine overdose (2Trusted Source).

However, the average half-life of caffeine in the blood ranges from 1.5–9.5 hours, which means it could take up to 9.5 hours for your caffeine blood levels to drop to half of its original amount (29Trusted Source).

As a result, it’s hard to determine the exact amount of Red Bull that could lead to caffeine overdose.

Additionally, adolescents under the age of 19 may be at a greater risk of caffeine-related side effects (30Trusted Source).

Current recommendations call for limiting caffeine to 100 mg or less per day in adolescents aged 12–19. Therefore, drinking more than one 8.4-ounce (260-ml) serving of Red Bull could increase the risk of caffeine overdose in this age group (28Trusted Source).

Symptoms of caffeine overdose and toxicity can include nausea, vomiting, hallucinations, anxiety, rapid heart rate, dizziness, trouble sleeping, and seizures (31Trusted Source).

The bottom line

Red Bull is a sugar-sweetened, caffeinated energy drink.

Frequent and excess intake may have serious and possibly life-threatening side effects, especially when combined with alcohol.

Therefore, pregnant women, children, individuals with heart problems, and caffeine-sensitive individuals should avoid drinking Red Bull entirely.

What’s more, as it’s high in sugar and has little nutritional value, you may benefit from choosing healthier alternatives to help boost your energy levels, such as coffee or tea.

One of my biggest fears is dying alone, but not alone in the sense of no one is at home, but you're dead at home for a like a week or something. There was this woman i worked with that passed away and she didn't get discovered for 3 days. Now I'm not sure if she could have been saved if someone checked on her sooner, but you just never know. For Kevin, it happened the way they say it happened, he may have had a massive heart attack and there was nothing anyone could do anyway.

Everyone dies alone. So don't worry about the inevitable.

Im not the only one that sees the irony of his death. It’s sort of poetic in a way and I mean no disrespect when I say that. It’s like me dying in a hurricane or something even though I follow weather like I breath air.

Now, my biggest gripe with KS show is that he rarely, if ever, had anyone to challenge his thought process. Holding bitches accountable is one thing, the other this is that NOBODY is above this human shit. And that’s the part I wanted to challenge him on.

Death is the end result of us all and most of us will die alone regardless of who you’re with, what your money look like, how you label yourself, or whatever else.

So whatever we are doing out here. Whatever we call this life thing; ain’t none of us going to make it out here alive.

Until then, wing this life shit the best way you can.

RIP
I remember when I was working at a hospital on the retirement Ward I had this one old black guy tell me, "no one leaves this rock alive"

I'm going to use it in one of the books I'm going to write

And I swear to God if you die in a hurricane I'm going to kick your ass

I would hate Kevin too if he was lying but the brotha was telling the absolute truth!

It’s true, I try to drink a 50 oz of water often. It even kills most of the hunger cravings.

We don't drink enough. I think folks were even telling KS to slow up on the Red Bulls and drink more water. I agreed. I have a 32 oz bottle that I always take with me in the car. Stop by 7-11 whenever I'm about to go on my runs and fill it with ice water. It's always there when I'm thirsty. Costs nothing and is much more refreshing than a sugary drink. Add lemon or lime if you want a hint of taste without the sugar. Keep a big tumbler of water next to my bed at all times. If I wake up in the night, I have a sip. I could care less about going to the bathroom...staying hydrated is important.

Start drinking more water throughout the day. Eventually you won't crave all that sugar.
Buy yourself a refillable 20 oz bottle and carry it with you everywhere, especially during the hot months. You won't miss sodas after a while.
Yup... A lot of cravings is caused by dehydration.
I say add some electrolytes to that water. Simple lemon juice will helps with taste and to help your body retain that water to hydrate your body.

...men die alone ALL the time! Us dying alone isn't what we try to avoid. How many guys look at how he died and went; 'Yeah, that's how I'd like to go!' Alone isn't a fear for us.

Historically men have always had to go out and do battle/hunt and never knew if and when they would return home whole. That is our wiring. We think of legacy: our offspring or the work we did before we left Earth. I just want to pass and be sure folks appreciated whatever I did for them.

Like I said....

Let them be cruel towards Kevin and his followers, but nothing will be more cruel to them than... Reality.

Until they become accountable for their own actions.... Pets and loneliness is their future....
.... And check this out, if they do make the necessary changes in their life, they will prove Kevin right which means they are accountable which will kill them from admitting....

So they will stay the way they are throwing rocks and laughing along with their lonely crowd.

Yep...he was sophisticated..with his shit...if I let a woman...watch his show...and if she say he not Right...I fucks and keeps it moving...brah

I put my lady (who's now my fiancé) on to Kevin a couple years ago and she started following dude way more than me. She said he opened her eyes to how unrealistic women are & shed light on the dynamics of what men really want in women.

She tried to put some of her single friends on to him over the years. The thing I noticed is that most women in healthy long term relationships didn't really have an issue with Kevin. Don't let a few social media posts of women celebrating his death fool you.. He a had a large following of women on his platform & they took heed to what he said whether they fully agreed or not.

The brother was polarizing, unapologetic and never wavered in what he believed was the issues facing modern day relationships.

Yes, we all die alone to some extent, but that doesn't mean we have to live alone and what the brother KS attempted to get people to understand is that you have to make it work with someone, if not then you will live & die alone.

Life is hard enough as it is, its easier to just put forth the effort to make it work with someone

I dont know what the fuck YALL talkin bout dying alone

Im gonna be surrounded by all my beloved

He told the truth and people don't like that, truth is educated prefer educated and educated usually has a certain way of doing things. We don't expect a single mother of 4 to be educated, he kept it 100% real and these chicks got in their feelings.

Lotta them really hunting for a educated man but don't qualify for him and they wonder why, it's not the pussy he cares about and they don't get that, KS kept it pretty 100 with facts especially based around CLASS which is something most people completely overlook especially us in the black community cuz we usually socialize so freely with everyone but not everyone we socialize with gets something back from us.

He kept it too 100 for most people which is why they got offended.

I'm in my 40s and I got my life together not too long ago, I was 35 and doing pretty fucking bad, truth is I know who I am and which woman is gonna respect me, I know alot of women won't deal with me due to a long history of struggle they don't find too attractive or they feel I'm not marriage material based on my struggles. I know my place and I stay in it, KS had that same vision, just because someone got money that don't mean they ready for something.

All these hoes chase money end up getting nothing but dick or a ass beating and no ring, KS dropped real game on heads and people got upset. No one wants a fat 40 year old with 2 kids, we gotta keep it 100... and during my poor years trust me I'd rather watch some porn, beat off and go to sleep before I date that:roflmao:

He tried to use science to explain why he thought black women werent as beautiful

So a European theory to use math to map beauty??? I wonder whose beauty they were using to base this equation on when initially thought up in Ancient Greece and then adopted during the Europeans during the Renissance?

I mean it sounds like he said that shyt, but buying into a mathematical model that doesn't take into account our natural features is rather dumb.

When it's someone under investigation or they haven't notified the family you get the cannot confirm or deny statement.
