I'm in Vancouver right now...Shit looks nothing like those pictures... Hung out in Yaletown last night . Very nice. My cousin and I had these 2 Punjabi chics buying us shots. Ended up at a strip club called " Brandi's Show Lounge".

Yeah - they got rid of the $1 bill back in the late-80s or early-90s. Been fucking with the loonies ($1) and toonies ($2) for many years.

White Russians and lobster Mac and Cheese at the Rogue.... Then to the Roxy. Man, these cats smoke mad trees out in the open here.

I've been in Vancity in 2006.., looks like it change quite bit since then, I see a lot more buildings in the recent pictures, it's a very nice city too bad it's so expensive.

What you mean expensive... Use your debit/credit card and you're paying about .75 cents on the dollar for everything...

What are the best seafood, Chinese BBQ , Japanese in Vancity or any great eating spots...on the not so expensive side.I'm in Coquitlam till Friday morning!

What places did you end up hitting up earlier this week, West E'?

I hit up Pho 99 at the Coquitlam centre, Sushi California on North Rd and the boathouse restaurant in New West Minster.
For my next visit l need recommendations on Malay, Jamaican and Seafood spots....

That's wassup. Some good restaurants around Coquitlam and easily accessible from nearby cities/districts. How did you like the Boathouse in New West?

Looking to visit Van City later on this year after a 15 year hiatus. I want to know the best spots to hit up, preferred places to stay, what the night life looking like? Was there Labor Day weekend 2009, I hit the Caprice and some other spots but I'm not sure if they're all still around.

Get paid to visit Vancouver, British Columbia

Vancouver has one of the most scenic locations of any major city in North America. Ringed by snow-capped mountains and surrounded by water, it’s like the sexy love child of Hong Kong and Alaska. It’s blessed with terrific food, tons of activities, and one of the best urban park systems in the world.

If that wasn’t enough to get you to visit, here’s one more reason: they’ll pay you. Every year, the awkwardly named Vancouver Hotel Destination Association (VHDA) runs a promotion that gives folks a Mastercard gift card when they stay at one of a few dozen downtown hotels.

The only condition is that you stay for two or four nights, and that the stay must take place between Oct 29, 2026 – Feb 28, 2027.

a city with many tall buildings and boats on water

Quick Thoughts

This is a regular promo that the Vancouver Hotel Destination Association runs at least once per year. I’ve actually done it a couple of times, and it was pretty straightforward. You make a booking through the provided portal, and the amount of the free gift card varies by property and stay: from CA$150 to CA$250 for a two-night stay. Anyone who’s ever gone out for a drink in British Columbia knows that $150 will buy you about three beers, but hey, it’s better than a kick in the toque.

The promotion can be used up to three times, and you get the gift card upon checking into the hotel, the idea being that you then get to spend it painting the town Red Maple leaf. Both times that I used it a few years ago, I also received elite credit and points, but your mileage may vary.

The prices at the participating hotels I looked at were largely the same as what I found on online travel agencies like Expedia and Hotels.com, but it’s worth double-checking the property you’re interested in to make sure. Also, note that reservations made through the promo are non-refundable and non-cancellable.
